He should be physically able to perform. Playing effectively is not the same as being healthy enough to play. There’s no reason to believe he won’t be ready to play at the start of 2022 unless he had a setback that has gone unreported.

I suspect what you say is likely true but Eagles and their doctors get to decide the baseline.  Look at what they did with Brooks last year and then with him restructuring and retiring this year.  Eagles almost have to pay Graham this year but his salary isn’t much. It is whether he is worth a roster spot.  Next year as a post June 1 cut they spread $16.5 million over two years. The extension Howie did was just plain stupid. My thought on PUP was how much he has recovered, is it enough to give a roster spot to a 34 year old DE on a rebuilding team or do they say, nope, you didn’t pass, similar to leaving Brooks on IR this past season.

I think Brooks was more about his mental health than physical.

At least he's the Commanders problem now. Oh wrong guy

Yup. And I’d argue is not that much of an upgrade if at all.

I’d point out 3 of 4 years maddox has missed significant time (3 games, 4 games and 6) . Add on, he was above average as a rookie. Had a 2 year injury prone and not good when he played. And then was good again. There’s a chance he reverts back to being injury prone and/or not very good. His pff grade the last 4 years: 63.3, 58.9, 37.8 and 72.8.

Scott has at least as much talent as Maddox but also has availability issues.  Hopefully between the two of them and versatile Vincent, nickel won’t be an issue.

To the draft ''experts'' of the board

If all of Hutch, Thib, Walker, JJ, and Kar are off by the board by 15, would Boye Mafe be a reach at 19 and a huge drop off from JJ and Kar.

I have to think so yes

Yes, also apparently most of his production is without his hand in the dirt so it doesn't help us much with trying to replace Graham going forward.

Slot CBs are very important. Number #1 CBs travel to the slot because teams put their #1 WRs in the slot.

Maddox was very good for 6 games last season and then completely disappeared.  That was the only thing he's shown since he looked like a very very very good FS his rookie season.

I think this is getting a little too much attention. We let Sweat and Barnett rush from a two-point stance quite a bit last year. I remember Barnett standing up on a third and short. The DEs get some freedom on how to line up, similar to the corners.

The question, though, is why did Mafe mostly stand up? Was he coached to do that or was it by choice? Was it comfort? There really isn’t any reason to assume Mafe can’t play with his hand on the ground when needed.

He’s a reach at 19. If we were able to swing a trade down with the Chiefs or Lions into the 29-34 range I’d be far more comfortable taking him there. The Chiefs need a wideout bad. If somehow Garrett Wilson or Jameson Williams are there at 15 (unlikely), or Olave is there at 19, I expect the Eagles telephones to be ringing. The Chiefs have to get ahead of the Packers. No reason it can’t be via us.

Sam Williams is going to be the best value DE in this draft, and maybe even the best DE at the end of the day

Look... be prepared for some reaches. It’s our MO

The Giants? How could they be out of cap room? Don't you have to have talented players that command real salaries to get into that kind of trouble?

Nope look at us

Reminder, today is April 1st.  The Eagles will not be making any of the surprising moves you may see on Twitter.

Coined by a franchise that was awful from Gannon to the arrival of Derek carr.

Also true, but it did start back in the late 60s and 70s when it was good.

In wins last year Eagles defense only gave up an average of 14.7 points per game

That is correct.

Mafe is 23. Yes, he has very good athleticism, but I'm always concerned with older players breaking out at positions where athleticism matters. At least with Jermaine Johnson, he dominated in his senior season and Senior Bowl + it made sense why he couldn't get the sack numbers at Georgia (look at his teammates).

Mafe only in a trade-down for me. Otherwise, no thanks.

And they immediately moved him back.  Never understood why.

Excellent discussion these last few pages

Who asked you? Ya overgrown bag of peat moss.

I note that Vulture took back the Razzie they had awarded to Bruce Willis, saying it was inappropriate to make humor given his medical condition.

People are busting on Will Smith, but did Chris Rock apologize to Jada?

No.

P.S. Chris Rock went off script with his joke about Jada. The Oscars producer said that the joke was not on their teleprompter. It would appear that he has some animus for Jada.

Chris Rock's joke was wrong.  Will Smith's response was wrong.   These two are not mutually exclusive.
