Who said they had a really good QB?  They had a young developing inexperienced QB that showed growth from his limited action as a rookie and won over the locker room and he and took a team to the playoffs that no one was expecting to make the playoffs especially after they fell into a hole in the first half of the season.   You look around at how many teams are QB desperate and don't have one and the Eagles are in a pretty good spot QB wise.

I know we all have our opinions, but I’m genuinely interested to see what is going to happen this season. The eagles have publicly said they need to be a better passing offense and specifically talked about getting their current weapons more targets.

That isn’t about upgrading the talent (though I expect they will do that too). it is about the QB.

No more hiding his passing deficiencies by going run heavy. They want to pass, and we will see if Hurts can answer the call.

how many games do you give him before making a final judgement?  I think 6 games should be more than enough for him to demonstrate he took a big step forward.

Who knows when Chris Rock's issues with Will Smith first started.  Can't think where they may have met before 😉😉

I note that Vulture took back the Razzie they had awarded to Bruce Willis, saying it was inappropriate to make humor given his medical condition.

People are busting on Will Smith, but did Chris Rock apologize to Jada?

No.

P.S. Chris Rock went off script with his joke about Jada. The Oscars producer said that the joke was not on their teleprompter. It would appear that he has some animus for Jada.

I anticipate Rock will apologize just as soon as Smith is arrested.  He should be expelled from the Academy and, in effect, blacklisted by producers.  I think we all know none of that will happen, either — but the Academy failed by not switching the envelope and awarding someone worthy.

Smith laughed at the joke and was subsequently ‘shamed’ by his overbearing subpar spouse.  I do feel bad for him in that way.

I’m aware of that , if he didn’t have those legal troubles , he would be another GA first round pick .., best edge guy in the draft

Well I mean he clearly has a high motor, easily gets by blocks, and penetrates…and not just on the field.

I suspect what you say is likely true but Eagles and their doctors get to decide the baseline.  Look at what they did with Brooks last year and then with him restructuring and retiring this year.  Eagles almost have to pay Graham this year but his salary isn’t much. It is whether he is worth a roster spot.  Next year as a post June 1 cut they spread $16.5 million over two years. The extension Howie did was just plain stupid. My thought on PUP was how much he has recovered, is it enough to give a roster spot to a 34 year old DE on a rebuilding team or do they say, nope, you didn’t pass, similar to leaving Brooks on IR this past season.

Even on a rebuilding team, you need a core of veterans to mentor the kids. One reason some franchises never turn the corner is they lack the "professionals" on the roster to anchor a team full of inexperienced players. And winning becomes contagious, as does losing. Having a few veterans on one year deals this year (Graham effectively, Cox, Harris, Kelce) won't impact the rebuild, between the roster and expanded PS squads (where 4 players are effectively on the roster since you can protect them each week) there's plenty of room for young players.

Graham at worst will be a solid 2 down DE, his strength and technique should make him solid against the run.

In all honesty, I'll be a bit disappointed if the Eagles don't come away with at least one UGA defensive player.  Man, I would love to have a Philly defender be described as playing violently.

Pretty sure that Rock already declined to press charges.

yeah he keeps getting brought up in here as the best pass rusher in the draft. Im not sure if he will ever see the field. And I kind of doubt he is worthy of being drafted and having an NFL career.

I guess we will see what happens with the cases.

Sam Williams who I brought up yesterday had a sexual assault case that was dropped. We will see what teams found when digging on that. If he is clean he will shock people and go much earlier than projected. Or, maybe he falls even lower.

The guy I'm gravitating to more and more is Cine for safety. I want that nasty intimidation factor in the secondary which we sorely lack and he brings it. I covet Davis, but he won't be there at 15. Maybe a Smith type trade up if he slides but I'm not sure that happens. I think they will be looking for a nose style player which would not be Wyatt but possibly Travis Jones. I would like Quay Walker as well if we don't get a better LB like Muma.

Dillard was fine, just bad luck, would have started his 2nd season if not for the bicep, then he gets beat out by a potential All Pro LT, no shame there!

I expect a trade the second day of the draft, when teams needing a LT fail to nail on in the first two rounds and figure Dillard is a better bet than depending on a 3rd rd pick.

My guess is he will get traded closer to training camp.  I probably should not have included him in my assessment of the 2018 draft as he was picked in 2019.  I don't think Dillard was necessarily a missed pick in terms of evaluation.  The mistake was not moving on from Peters when they took him.  If Dillard was given more of an opportunity early on you probably still get Mailata as a starter at RT.

Cine had a great workout. But hes a box safety. Im not interested.

Sirianni is not going to expect Hurts to become Mahomes or Allen. I think he'd like him to develop into a better, more durable version of Garoppolo.

Garoppolo has a meh arm, isn't a great athlete, but all he does is win, 31-14 in SF. His problem is he can't stay healthy.

Garoppolo got to sit for three years in NE before he started games in SF. And didn't start a full season until he was 28. So he had a chance to learn and grow on the job.

The key with Hurts is incremental improvement, this is still going to be an offense with a heavy orientation toward the run, especially if they add a power back in the draft - they may have the best run blocking OL in the NFL. And Sirianni will use Hurts' legs to keep defenses honest (the threat of Hurts running or rolling out keeps the LDE home).

What I think Siri will want to do is gradually increase Hurts' role as a passer, get him more comfortable in the pocket, improve his reads and mechanics. Nothing drastic here, a few more passes a game, get him to be a tad bit more accurate, improve his timing on deep balls. He's not going to be asked to throw 40 times a games.

But it's not just Hurts, adding Pascal will provide a security blanket (a lot more trustworthy target than Reagor), I think they'll try to incorporate Stoll more in the passing game (not as a major threat, but as an underneath target since defenses tend to forget about the blocking TE in two TE formations), improving Watkins' route running (sometimes it's the WRs fault for not being where the QB expects him), increasing Gainwell's role (the screen has been an Eagles bread and butter play for two decades), adding more skill (drafting a WR and or H-back).

Again, nothing drastic, but Sirianni got to work with different styles of QB in Indy, Luck, Brissett, Rivers, and knows how to tailor his offense to his QBs' strengths and weaknesses.

I think this is very interesting. Ezukanma looks like he got way faster as his career went on. The guy wearing 13 is a totally different player than when he wears 84 in the first half of the video.

Early on he makes a catch in traffic, and 3 guys converge to make the tackle. Later on he makes a catch in traffic and emerges out ahead of everyone who tried to catch him. And then starts making plays on the edge of the defense too. Whole new player.

Not sure anderson has the requisite money to avoid jail time.

I was annoyed when listening to inside the birds, they said if we landed Marcus Williams we would bypass safety. Not sure why, Williams and another top safety such as Cine is what this team needs. Not just one safety and call it a day.

There's a theme here.  But part of that theme is, in quite a number of cases (Peters excepted) they didn't actually have a viable alternative due to poor drafting.

San Fran wins with a really great defense and a very unique weapon in Deebo. Paired as well with a very strong running game. But they, much like us last year, won games in spite of their QB play. And eventually, it fell to Jimmy G to win the game for them, and he failed, twice honestly. Against Dallas he was terrible in the 4th q, and only Dallas's ineptitude kept them from winning. And against the Rams, he was again terrible when the pressure was on him to actually carry the team.

I don't want my team to win in spite of my QB. Which is where we're at with Hurts.

I honestly don't care how my team wins.  But... winning despite the QB normally ends in the playoffs.  It's a losing proposition.   The 2000 Ravens got away with it with Trent Dilfer, because they had an all-time great defense and a monster running game that could hide him.  But, that team was a massive anomaly, going 9 straight games (IIRC) without an offensive TD, and still managed to be the best team in the league at the end of the year.   That team was the closest thing I can remember ever to the 1991 Eagles, who suffered from the same issue - no QB to pair with an all-time defense.  Difference is, they at least had an OL and running game to rely on.  The Eagles' OL in 1991 was makeshift at best.

Probably will come down to if he's winning or not.

Let's say he goes 2-4 but looks good as a passer then what, or what if they go 4-2 and he looks crap as a passer?

Will be interesting to see how it plays out and how much leash he has.
