And Jimmy G's per game stats in the playoffs:

13/22, 59%, 160 yards, with a total of 4 TDs to 6 INTs in 6 games.

And his goal is for Hurts to be slightly better than Jimmy G 🤡🌏

Yes exactly. I guess my point was you know how the story ends when the QB is more of a hinderance than a help. In the playoffs, QB play is magnified as the pressure is on them, and that's why their salaries are so much higher than anybody else. Look at Jimmy G's playoffs numbers this year:

DAL - 16/25, 172 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

GB - 11/19, 131 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

LAR - 16/30, 232 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT

They certainly didn't win because of QB play. But they damn sure lost because of it. Is that what we are hoping for from Hurts? Those kind of playoff numbers?

Pre-supposing that Hurts is the starting QB for 2022 -- I'm still about 50/50 that a QB is taken in the draft -- the team won't bench him if they're winning.  If they are 4-2 or 5-3 regardless of how they do it, it's doubtful we'll see a starting QB change unless his performance is worse than last season.  I would say if that happens there is no way the team will have a winning record -- the defense and special teams are not strong enough to allow for that.

How far does Hurts develop in 2022 to warrant negotiating an extension with him after the season?  Will he be able to develop from 61% completion to above 65%?  Will he develop from 16 TD/9 INT to 25 TD/10 INT?  Will his running to pass ratio be reduced from 32% down under 20%?  If we don't see that trend in the first half of the season then it would be prudent to turn the page as an organization.

I'm just not that confident on the Eagles' talent evaluation of their own players.  Mills was kept too long.  Agholor was kept too long.  The worst thing that could happen is to extend a QB who isn't developing.  I wonder if the last mega contract the Eagles gave to a QB will make them pause long and hard this time around.

From all the reported stories on Lowie's interest in QBs, I have to think the leash is very short. He may very well get to play out this season as they refuse to acknowledge a viable option (Minshew). But if it is more of the same this year, and we revert to a run heavy approach to limit Hurt's flaws....I can't see them extending him.

Man can't believe I got a B on this draft image.thumb.png.f73e6f4fa86cd7ca00f8b904a42b0845.png

Frelund mock 2.0 on NFL.com

15- Wyatt (1st DT off the board)

16- Burks (2nd WR off the board behind Wilson)

19- Lloyd (1st LB off the board)

Meh. Love Wyatt, don’t like Burks at 16, and don’t see any way we go LB in R1 after signing White)

If Wyatt actually is 24, I’m out in round 1.

The Super Bowl against KC is the perfect example. SF got up to a 10 point lead in the 2nd half. In the 4th Q, Mahomes threw a pick with 12 minutes to go. You'd hope your QB at that point could engineer a scoring drive to put immense pressure on KC (a la Nick Foles!). What does Jimmy do?

Pass to Kittle for 12 yards

Incomplete

Run for 3 yards, they punt. KC scores thanks to Mahomes hitting Hill for a 44 yard pass, then a PI on Kecle in the end zone. TD KC.

Next drive, run by Mostert, incomplete pass, incomplete pass, punt.

Mahomes completes passes of 5,9,3,38 in a row, then runs 6 yards, gets sacked, and throws a 5 yard TD.

Jimmy G, now losing, and having to come back, completes passes of 8 and 16 yards. Then, incomplete, incomplete, incomplete, sack.

KC gets it back and runs for a 38 yard TD.

Jimmy G again gets the ball, and incomplete, interception, game over.

So after they had a 10 point lead with 12 minutes, Jimmy G went

3/9, 36 yards, and an INT.

Similar things happened this offseason in the Dallas and Rams game, he completely collapsed when they needed him the most.

I can see it being Davis instead of Wyatt. Burks sounds right.

Lloyd would be a bit of a surprise, but if you consider DEs are gone with the Ojabo injury, and safety is also a devalued position- it may be very possible Lloyd is the BPA there and would be an improvement over Edwards.

Id prever a CB like Elam, over Lloyd at this point. But there are CBs to be had in round 2 and 3 so I could live with it.

I was just reading some jetro lot stuff and it sounds like most NFL people have him in round 2. Matt does not have him in round 1 either. Mayyybe a late 1st, but not as early as our picks.

Matt also agrees with what Ive been saying- eagles are possibly leaning more towards a nose. Jordan Davis, Travis Jones... Not Wyatt.

Jeff Lurie's statement is in my signature, and we are the QB factory.  Anyone who thinks all the time spent with Kenny two gloves is just a smoke screen is kidding themselves.

With Davis size and athleticism can't see him getting out of the top 10. We need our second so I can't sacrifice to go up to 8 or so with it, even though it's tempting... We need multiple seconds if anything due to the amount of needs, not enough were filled via free agency.

yeah I dont think theyre trading up. If Davis isnt there theyll go for a different position there. Maybe Karalaftis.

And neither is public opinion. So why do we want to judge the player guilty before we know he is?

I'm not suggesting he is guilty.  I'm saying that there is extra risk involved with a player facing multiple rape charges, if convicted, you've now wasted a draft resource on him. Those are finite, and selecting him and having him incarcerated means missing out on another player.  Best move for an NFL team with him is to sign him as a UDFA, with incentives to raise his salary, similar to what the Cowboys did with La'el Collins.  Too much risk for an NFL team to draft him, IMO.    It's not about judging him, it's about risk assessment.

Similarly, teams avoid medical red flag players as well in the draft.

Even on a rebuilding team, you need a core of veterans to mentor the kids. One reason some franchises never turn the corner is they lack the "professionals" on the roster to anchor a team full of inexperienced players. And winning becomes contagious, as does losing. Having a few veterans on one year deals this year (Graham effectively, Cox, Harris, Kelce) won't impact the rebuild, between the roster and expanded PS squads (where 4 players are effectively on the roster since you can protect them each week) there's plenty of room for young players.

Graham at worst will be a solid 2 down DE, his strength and technique should make him solid against the run.

Typically carry four or five DE.  Graham, Sweat, Barnett and Reddick (maybe a SAM).  Jackson was performing better as the season went on. So no room for a DE on the rafter.  Sacrifice a Jackson for a 34 year old DE on a team in year two of a three year rebuild and have three first round picks and likely a pretty good DE prospect falling to them that they pass on because no room at the inn?  Doesn’t make great sense to me.

It's crazy that everyone is still mocking a LB to us in the 1st after the White signing. Has no one paid attention to this team for the last 20 years? There's plenty of good LBs in the 2nd and 3rd where we don't have to force one in the 1st round. I'd honestly see them trading down if the board fell that way.

I don’t think we’ll see last years Baltimore offense, I believe Nick did it to save his job, and this upcoming season they’ll be closer to a 50\50 run to pass offense. If Jalen is failing through week 4-5, he’ll likely get replaced with the QB they draft this season in rounds 2 or 3.
This way the Eagles can determine whether or not they will have to draft one early in 2023.
Maybe they’ll let Minshew play instead of drafting one in a few weeks and if it doesn’t work, they win 6-7 games in 2022, the Eagles be in a better position for 2023 to draft a QB.
That makes 2023 a throw away year since a rookie won’t be expected to win a bunch of games and if it goes right, they compete in 2024.  Basically they’ll be ready when Trey Lance hits his stride in San Fran, lol, ugh.

To further expand on Jimmy G's horrid playoff play....in the Dallas game, in the 2nd half, he went:

5/12, 40 yards, INT, with drives ending in punt, punt, INT, punt.

In the Rams game, SF again had a 10 point lead going into the 4th Q. The Rams tied it up with 6:49 to play. Jimmy G time!

1/6 for -3 yards (lol), game ending INT after LA had kicked a go ahead FG.

I'm not sure if I've made my point strongly enough, but F Jimmy G. Shanahan is the reason that offense is as efficient as it is in the regular season. If he loved Jimmy G so much, why the hell would he trade all that draft capital to move up for Lance? Because he knows as well as we do, that Jimmy G will never win it all. Much like most of us here know Hurts will never win it all.

Notice a trend?

"I currently have him 7th best QB in the NFC and after an improved year I think he can make the leap to right outside the top 5 (so 6th)."

"Hurts will inclemently improve. Sirianni's goal is for him to become a more durable Jimmy G"

No one actually believes in him, and they are hedging bets already in March/April.

Matt has always been a bit wonky in his valuations.  I remember disagreement with him on the Blog back in the early days. But he has a good eye for linemen.  But a versatile DT that can play on the nose in 4i and modified 3 DL with an elephant sure seems to make sense with Gannon.

I agree. Booth is still on the board at 19 when she takes Lloyd, that's a no brainer for me. My realistic R1 targets are Wyatt/Davis, Booth/Elam, and Johnson/Karlaftis/Burks/Williams.

Cossell likes Jalen Tolbert better than London. Pretty interesting...

Anyone know how much Jordan Davis can bench?  I've heard others (message boards so take with a grain of salt) say his personal best is only around 250-275 pounds but can't seem to find anything anywhere.  He skipped the bench at combine I believe.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32486465/the-legend-jordan-davis-growing-lead-georgia-bulldogs-football-promised-land

This said in High School he also struggled to bench half his weight when he weighed 300 pounds
