If the Eagles can assess the draft board correctly, then having 3 picks is great for moving around whilst still picking in the 1st round.  If they are comfortable with the WR depth in rounds 2 and 3, moving down makes a lot of sense in creating depth in the roster at other positions.  Their problem historically has been trusting the board and assessing the players.  The top brass got finessed a bit last year, but they need to keep it up again; doing a grand trade up is great, but it's not what the team needs.

To address the Tampa game in general, not to agree with AFan’s stance.  Mahommes, against essentially the same defense lost his two starting OTs before the Super Bowl at the end of the 2020:season and had a bad game against Tampa.  We forgive Mahommes because of losing those OTs.  The Eagles were playing a PS G at RG, down at that point three RGs (Brooks, Driscoll, Herbig) and Lane missed a third of the game at RT.  Kelce had his worst game of the year, probably impacted by Opeta at RG.  Note that the Eagles were down to Clark at RT.   Sanders was bad but he had been hampered by an injury for most of the season.  Hurts got surgery on his ankle after the season so he wasn’t in good shape either.  That offense couldn’t afford any bodies missing.  Meanwhile, the starting Tampa D that gave Mahommes fits played together, I believe for the first time all season.   Yes, the Eagles looked ragged.  Teams without depth tend to look that way.  (Yes, Burrows also had OL issues and looked better against the Bucs   Not denying that because I am not defending AFan’s argument.). Howie, has a ton of rebuilding left to go.  (Unfortunately, it’s Howie because the worst signing the Eagles made this offseason was extending him, IMHO.)

ahh... But here is the kicker in the Tampa game, that you are neglecting to address:

Hurts was bailing out of clean pockets with Wide Receivers running wide open downfield, multiple times. Both Watkins and Smith could have had multiple TD's in that game if Hurts stayed in the pocket, went through his progressions and made the throws ONTIME.

He was doing this because the defense was confusing him, they were showing one defense presnap and then taking away - post snap, what Hurts was determiniing to be his 1st read based off the pre look. This confused Hurts, who was unable to go adjust and make the proper reads post snap.  This is concerning since we all know that game 7 of this past season Siri dumbed down extensively the offense to fit Hurt's limited abilities.

there was a Tampa DB coach caught on the sidelines telling his players to keep doing it, because it was working because Hurts cant read the defense.

So not only does Hurts not have the prototypical NFL Arm, he , to date,  lacks the ability to read and react to what the defense is doing POST snap.... this is where I am not sure he can make enough progress to overcome his lack of NFL Arm talent.

And no, he wasn't basically a rookie last season.

Howie basically just turned #16 into a third in 2022, a first in 2023, and a second in 2024.

The Saints could be horrible.

This trade should tell all the Hurts squirts that the Eagles are not sold on Hurts and are preparing to replace him next year.

I think I like this trade?

Just wondering bc I must've missed the discussion. Does Baker make the team any better or potential for a SB?

Curious if they're targeting someone in particular

... and all the folks who wanted to trade back for a 2023 1st round pick get their wish!

Not a bad trade at all, because I don't see the Saints as a playoff team next year.

Why the hell would the Saints do that?

We play the Saints in 2022.  Get to push our pick up.

I...I really like this move? Kinda feel like a Saints 2023 1st has a chance to be really good (new coach, Kamara likely gone for a while), and the 2024 2nd is more ammo to move up for a QB next year.

Even like the extra 3rd this year to boot.

Bit of a giggle at those who said getting a 1 next year wasn't going to happen.
