They want a QB this season?

Maybe? But you'd think they would wait to see what happens first with Willis/Pickett. Now they are just stuck in the middle.

I find it strange that they'd do this trade pre-draft. Unless if the Saints want to preemptively have ammo to move up into the top 10. Still weird.

Not a bad trade at all, because I don't see the Saints as a playoff team next year.

I was one of them and I am happy with the trade.

Glad we made this trade. Regardless what ppl want to hear, the 2 1st picks is a dline and oline combo.

I bet we're going to start stockpiling picks to trade from now on

Made the trade with Miami to go from 6 to 12 before the draft last year. Then moved up on draft night to get Smith.

Honestly, I have no clue why the Saints did this now. As for Howie -- say yes to that deal as quickly as possible.

It would help their trade partner know they have the picks to do it beforehand and get visits organised, etc.  Could be looking at WR, I'd think

They now have picks that can get them to #5 ahead of Carolina.

So essentially it boils down to trading #16 for a 2022 3rd, 2023 1st, and 2024 2nd (give or take moving up or down a little)?

Per the Fitzgerald-Spielberger value chart:

Eagles get 2,425 Points this year. Saints Get 3,433 Points. That leaves 1,008 Points as the difference to be made up in the future 1 + 2. 1,008 Points is basically equal to the 51st Pick this year. I would call that a clear value win, even with the time decay.

AWESOME trade. They essentially traded back 2 spots and sent pick 19 for a 3rd this year (LOT of value in R2-3, even moreso than R1 this year IMO), a 1st next year, and a 2nd the year after. Plenty of ammo to rebuild the defense still and have maneuverability next year to get in place for a QB. Plus, the Saints may very well blow next year, especially if Kamara is out.

God I love this trade. Well done Howie

I find it unlikely with one less 1st rounder we'll go OL. I'm guessing DL and any one of DL/WR/CB for the second pick. Just depends on how the board falls.

That clown doesn't get much right but credit where it's due, that's an awesome trade

Sure but Carolina could also like Pickett enough to move up a spot or two. Just seems like there is another shoe to drop for it to make sense that's not announced yet.

Kiss WR in round 1 goodbye. It's not happening now. Eagles won't use one on a WR with only two picks now.

They trade up to like 4 or 5 now, right?

That's not true

The trade also suggests they are not going to draft a QB high this year and will take one if they fall to them.  Could say all you need to know about this QB class from their perspective

Give me Jordan Davis and Jermaine Johnson and I'll hail Howie as a genius

This trade pretty much reduced the chances that we were drafting a LB in the 1st to zero.

I hate to break it to you all, but the Saints are gonna draft Kenny two gloves, he will go all Mac Jones and get into the playoffs and we will be right back where we started.

Kudos to Howie for getting a lottery ticket in next year's draft that could be the high pick that's needed. Not being sarcastic. It was going to be hard to find a team who might suck who would trade their 1 and he did it.
