I’d argue besides the dolphins all those teams have significantly worse rosters. Seahawks, Lions and Texans might be picking 1-2-3 and I’m doubting they’d trade out of those spots if young and stroud aren’t as good as advertised this upcoming college season.

Yep.

This could help, but unless the Saints are a top 10 pick themselves or we have multiple QBs rise, it might not mean squat.

Not liking this trade so much

Saints have to be going up for Malik Willis. How far up do they trade?

He was available in the game :)...  I took him in the 3rd.  You think he goes round 2?

Panthers crushed them last year and barely lost. (with Winston)

Falcons also went 1-1 with the Saints.

Falcons have a garbage roster and no QB. They're going to be a bottom 5 team.

#5 to be safe

Damn Giants are going to be stockpiled now too damn

So does NO now give up 16 and 19 to move up to pick 4 with the Jets?  Hoping it's not the Giants

Saints and Panthers definitely going QB. Do Willis, Pickett, and Corral actually all go top 10? That'd be nuts.

Issue with that though is Saints have to be making this play for a QB they really like & don’t want their rivals in the top 10 to grab instead. So it seems very likely Saints will be using both of those 1sts to move into the top 10.

possible. However not sure if they are gonna be able to move up high enough to get the one they want or have someone willing to trade back from their spot. I’m guessing it’s likely willis whom they want. Which i still think it’s Jameis starting the season cause willis by all accounts isn’t ready from day 1. 16 and 19 according to draft value chart is 1875 which gets you to pick 4. Problem is need teams willing and want to trade back from 3-8 to 16 and 19. I think willis winds up going anywhere from 2 (lions so who knows) to 8. I think a team like seattle if they want willis is easier to move up with a team like jets to get him as jets don’t fall all the way back to 16 and  get future picks as well

I hope so. Push a good defensive player down. If Eagles can trade up for Sauce or Hamilton without giving up too much I’ll be happy

I’ve always felt teams devalue future year draft picks too much, and I wouldn’t have a problem with Howie doing this again with 18

Maybe? But you'd think they would wait to see what happens first with Willis/Pickett. Now they are just stuck in the middle.

They could trade both picks to move up into the top 5.  Maybe acquiring one of the Eagles' 1st Round picks was their stepping stone to trade up?

So this is why the Blog blew up on a late Monday afternoon.  Basically we just swapped #18 and #19 while also giving them #16 for 3rd Round #101 this draft plus a 2023 1st Round and a 2024 2nd Round (eh, the swapping of 6th & 7th Round picks is just background noise).  Yeah, that's loading up on ammo for 2023.  Really surprised it was the Saints and that they did the trade this early before the draft.  Didn't think we'd see a move until Draft Day, maybe a few days before at best.

Only thing that gives me pause is Mickey Loomis is a better general manager than Howie. So for him to agree to a trade like this means they might have a better evaluation of someone we just passed on.

Falcons currently have mariota at QB and not Matt Ryan. As well as they lost gage their only wide receiver they had left last year. It’s basically pitts and Patterson and a bad oline. falcons also played Trevor siemian and tysom hill as the saints QB. Winston might not be great he’s better than both of those QBs. And they lost by 2 in Trevor siemian’s first game.

As for the panthers,  sam darnold was playing terrific football when they beat the saints in week 2. After his first 4 weeks the panthers QB situation went to crap and he is currently projected as their starter. He was 1-7 the rest of the season after a 3-0 start. Please show me anything the panthers have done this offseason to improve their team? Whereas Winston alone is better than hill and siemian

Eh they made the Marcus Davenport trade, I wouldn't sweat this too much

Remember though that they don’t have Sean Payton.

So insert Jameis (or rookie!) in at QB, remove multiple players due to cap ramifications, retire defense stalwart Malcolm Jenkins, and we very possibly just traded for a top 10 pick.

Maybe - but we still have more ammo then them

Agreed 100%. People acting like going from Sean Payton to Dennis Allen isn't almost definitely a massive downgrade.

Even with this trade, I think Young or Stroud are highly unlikely next season. Unless Eagles or Saints pick in the top 4. Teams like the Lions, Falcons, Texans, maybe even Seahawks should all be worse than the Eagles and Saints, and if those teams are sitting there with Young or Stroud in their laps, they're taking them and not trading down. I would focus on the projected 3rd-5th best QBs in that class right now. Now obviously, some other names could jump up and push Young or Stroud to 3-5 in the QB rankings. But until that happens, just right now, I don't think either are realistic still.

I'm talking long term, not next year.

I’d bet Winston plays most of this year until willis/rookie QB is ready. They were 5-2 when Jameis was out there and he’s much more competent than hill and siemian were. losing jenkins and Williams hurts their defense. I think comes down to how long kamara is out with suspension, did Allen learn anything from previous HC and how they replace jenkins/Williams.
