Reading through the Saints message board it seems like they are split on either trading up for a QB (which they don’t prefer for obvious reasons given who will be there) or staying put and taking a LT & WR. A LT & WR would make them better this year so let’s pray they do the dumb thing and trade-up for a redshirt Malik Willis.

I think his value is the highest now. decent year, it looks like we're trying to build something, or at least have confidence with him for another year.   Bait and switch and unload Hurts this week

Maybe Seattle would be interested... Not sure what he would fetch. A 2nd ?

Draft values have changed since 1990.

Depends on what team you ask, they’ll all have a different answer

There are plenty of armchair GMs in here that would say Hurts wouldn’t even fetch a 4th but I think a 2nd isn’t the craziest compensation for a young QB if a team thinks they can build an effective system for him.

I also may just be trying to speak it into existence so…

I think you could get a deal done with a 3rd.

The team getting Hurts thinks they "won" the trade because he was a 2nd round pick a few years ago, but we win cause Hurts is off our roster.

To be honest, with the Lions drafting so high each round I'll take their 4th tomorrow.

I'd take a 2nd next year. Going to need plenty of ammo for a trade up for a QB. We could use the two 1st's plus a 2nd if needed and still have a 2nd.

#16, #19, ##98 to the Giants for #5

If I was the giants I'd do that, I'd try to snag a 2023 pick as well. Maybe a 3rd

While the Lions and Texans almost definitely will have the highest original pick, I'd bank on the Saints having the highest of the traded picks by a pretty decent margin.

So Picketts out 🤣🤣

I really don't understand the Saints logic in making a move like that blind unless there's another shoe to drop. If they KNOW 2 guys they love are gonna be there sure I get it. I just don't believe there's a slam dunk pick guaranteed to be at 16.  Even a trade up doesn't seem like a guarantee to nail "thier guy" with #16 and #18.

They may just like the group of guys in the middle and want to load up on cheap rookies since their cap isn’t great

Whoops.  Seahawks and Texans can't both own the Broncos' pick.

1. Trade Hurts and Dillard for max value.

2. Trade the comp 3rd for Mayfield and a 2nd.

3. ????

4. Profit

Bold Prediction....

Saints are making a run at Lamar Jackson

I said it earlier the Ravens should unload Lamar. I dont think the Saints are sold on Winston and this year, and the following year QB's are worthy.

Plus the Ravens love Tyler Huntley as I mentioned earlier

If they were making a run at any nfl player they'd have been better served trading the picks they gave us then pick 16.

We need Davis Mills to look good to take them out of the running for a QB. Because if they and the Lions are picking top 3, they will just take the top QB's.

How far could the Eagles move up from 15 with that 3rd we got? 12-13 range?

I’d argue also need seattle to go after willis cause if they go with lock next year then they too could be picking top 3 and need a Qb

Saints are taking a run at a top 5 pick.

What doesn't make sense to me about Saints using the 2 1's to move up is that the Saint probably could have moved up more with their one and the haul they gave the Eagles. Think they actually want 2 players this year.

Probably. The three players I covet for a trade up are Sauce, Davis, Walker. The other two that are very enticing are Wilson and Johnson.

If I'm Minshew I'd ask to be traded if I didn't get a legit shot at competing. Eagles have sheltered Hurts from actual competition.

Texans have the Browns pick?

I'd also say we need for Tua to play well enough this season for the Dolphins to take them out of the QB hunting market.  Leave it down to DET and SEA.  Hopefully enough teams take QBs this draft that they won't be in for a 2nd draft in a row, though that has happened.

Predictions for our picks: Wyatt and Booth

Listening to his podcast, Chris Simms said he would be shocked if Stingley goes in the top 25.

Exactly, if you want to say instead of dropping the valuation of future picks a full round that it should be half a round instead (32 vs 16 spots), I can get onboard with that. But to think there's almost no drop in valuation is bananas. We have decades of trades that prove the trade market has clearly established a drop in valuation of roughly a full round. I'll meet proponents half-way, but there are several people questioning any drop in valuation at all. I don't get it.

I think that’s a good way to look at it.
That said, the hard and fast rule being this year’s draft pick is worth N+1 in the future is devaluing the future pick way too much. I understand why they do it. It’s easier and cleaner during negotiations, and you have to bake in potential risk.

That would be terribly disappointing, and I like Booth. Wyatt is too old to go top 18 IMO.

Yeah Dolphins too. Hopefully Seattle just takes Willis this year.
