Huh? What? I think if Minshew has half a brain, he'd figure out by now the league doesn't see him as starting QB material, but one can make a fine living holding a clipboard for a decade, then go into coaching (Pederson). Make $30M, max out your pension and at 35, retire. Life is hard.

If anyone thought Minshew could start, they'd be throwing a 3rd at Howie to pry him away.

Giants:  D Jones, T Taylor

Pittsburgh:  Trubisky, Randolph

Detroit:  Goff

Houston:  Mills

Indy:  Ryan, Ehlinger

Tenn:  Tannehill, Woodside

Atl:  Mariota, Franks

Car:  Darnold, Walker

NO:  Winston, Dalton

Sea:  Lock, Eason

Whine about Hurts, but here are ten teams significantly worse at QB. And non have inquired about Minshew.

5 of those 10 teams I would trade Hurts for the bolded players before you even finish reading this sentence.

I don't like Winston or Mariota much, but I'd consider pulling the trigger for them as well.  I suppose that leaves 3 .....

Older than you young man and I was up after the game.

Sure, you're retired and don't have to get up at 4:30 am to go to work. By 8:30 or 9:00 pm I'm out (unless the Eagles are playing)

Would not mind this guy next year if we're going QB route.

A Few throws there that hurts could only dream of making.

Interesting reading in here after yesterday’s trade.  Love the speculation that the Eagles will be a Wildcard team again this year from some of the folks that are the harshest critics of Hurts and Sanders. That just doesn’t make sense to me.  It isn’t like WTF commies don’t get back their injured defenders or the giants don’t have their pick and the Bears this year.  Assumption those four games are in the bag.

As to the trade.  Eagles trade down from 16 to 18 and land a late third but must also give up a sixth for a seventh.  Last year, they traded a bit higher third to move from 12 to 10.  Seems like that part of the trade is a wash for both teams. They trade 19 for a first next year and a second in 2024. That’s decent value.  Something I haven’t seen factored in, but should be is financial.  Assuming successful picks (a gamble of an assumption with Howie), they now have only two fifth year options coming from this draft (think about how pretty much everyone felt about what they paid Barnett last season).  They cost to the cap of signing three  1st rounders to extensions, especially on the heels of resigning Smith, would stretch the cap. The cost of extending Smith with three fifth year options would be a similar strain.  Spreading out the finances has value to the Eagles.

I expect a trade of Dillard at some point.  Should be a conditional pick that can escalate based on playing time. A bit of a wall facing Howie because of decision time on picking up his option.

Won't happen, but I'd have to laugh if we made this trade and still took Pickett while setting us up for next season as well.

I'm not saying it would be a good move, but I would laugh.

I can see it as if it already happened.

Back when Utah played KS in the championship Utah had a 21 point lead in the 2nd half and lost by 3.

I didn't watch the game last night but I can't imagine NC choked more than Utah did against KS

We'll get the annual. It's a 1-yr deal but I hope things work out long term PC

Yep, no longer getting up that early. Slept in until 7:30 this morning.  But when I was getting up a 3:45 to get my walking in, I was going to bed around 10-10:30.  Love sleeping 7-8 hours now.

Losing a 15-pt halftime lead in a basketball game is not that uncommon and certainly not even close to what the Falcons did

Has nothing to do with kansas.  Could have been two EST teams and it would still have been 9:20.  Has been late for years.  People have been complaining about it...for years.  Guess what, Super Bowl is on a sunday evening as well.  And then NCAAF National Championship game is on monday night too.  Oh and preseason football is boring and hard to watch.

It's the same old tired things.

True, but it also starts at a more reasonable hour... 6:30ish, I think.   Trouble is, it still lasts about 4.5 hours with all the nonsense they've added.

Yes, down in Baja California Sur. Right now, we are catching yellowtail and mahi.  In a couple of weeks, there will be more mahi, wahoo, tuna and marlin

I think that Commies surprise everyone. I honestly haven't paid attention to Giants in a long time. Barkley looked like he lost a step after his recovery. Or maybe he wasn't 100%?

I think we trade Dillard as well. Though we do have a history of injuries and Lane is a year older. Wouldn't surprise me if Lane gets injured and we move Mailata over to RT and Dillard gets another try at LT

Retirees have it easy.  Can grab a nap before the game.... grab a nap during the game... and then grab a nap after the game.

I love nap time!

I am less enamored with the pass rushers in this draft than everyone else, it seems.  I don't see any true generational talents at the top.  And I don't see any elite burst edge guys (even allowing for being somewhat smaller and one-dimensional) later on.  I just see lots of depth with good prospects.

I know we have PTSD from "Howie-ing" deep positions in the draft, but I'm not sure that's a bad approach at DE.

Are there still going to be 7 teams in the playoffs?  Seems probable the Eagles grab that slot again.  NFC is extremely weak right now.  Two, maybe three teams competing for a title and the rest are just a bunch of JAGs.  AFC is monstrous.   I could see any of 6 teams potentially getting into the Super Bowl if they get hot at the right time... and another 6 that are likely battling for that last playoff spot (with winning records).   Overall, the AFC's records may not look that much better, because they will be beating each other up.  But, I think the AFC-NFC matchup record will be lopsided towards the AFC by at least 10 games.

Yeah that falcons Superbowl loss was an all time meltdown maybe only the Houston oilers losing to the bills have claim to a bigger choke job

The falcon could have literally just knelt for 3 downs and punted every possession in the 4th and the pats run out of time, I stead Matty ice throws a pic Six then that's compounded  by shottenheimer continuing to throw, one would have thought Andy was managing that game, just horrendously bad game management, tough to watch Brady and the stupid pats win that one.

EDIT: actually with the cap increase, we’re approximately keeping pace.

Surprised the Bengals are so low with all the guys they brought in.

Problem is the nfc was top heavy last year and weak after that. I’d argue the nfc is weaker this year than it was last year even with the top teams. Rams and Bucs are going to be the cream of the crop again. Packers are going to take a step back losing Adams even with those picks. Dallas has lost a bunch of players this offseason. San Francisco it depends on what happens with Jimmy g and if he’s gone is trey lance able to hit the ground running. Arizona is having issues within that organization. I think could collapse on kingsbury. Saints lost Sean Payton and Armstead but get back winston. I think they take a step back to being a 7 or 8 win team.

8 out of the 16 teams last year in the nfc were below .500. 7 of those 8 were 3 or more games below .500. As compared to the afc which had 4 at 3 games or more below .500. It’s not like the bottom half of the teams in the conference got significantly better. Carolina has made minimal moves. Atlanta lost 2 receivers and Matt Ryan. Minnesota has done little to improve. Bears traded Mack and hicks is a FA still. Lions are the lions. Seattle is significantly worse. Giants fired gettleman and done little and trying to deal bradberry. Washington might be slightly better as they got a QB better than what they had but who knows with what Carson you are going to get. The nfc is not nearly the challenge to just make the playoffs as the AFC especially when they added a 7th team.
