Sticking to my prediction that only one QB goes before 15

I dunno man. Darnold, Rosen, Jones, Haskins, Trubiski...all recent top 15 picks. People do goofy things for QBs. Even bad ones.

He isn’t going to cover slots, but he can play deep safety well.

Consider how most college defenses play in the secondary. Mostly zone, with cornerbacks on the "boundary” on the outsides and the Ss taking the inside zones.  The S that is playing the weak side is either high, or more often than not, in the slot. Because so much of the college game is run option or RPO and short throws abound.  Ow teams don’t play as much "strong” and "weak” side as in my youth with the Option I, Wing T, Veer and Wishbone. Presnap movement is much more sophisticated these days than just identifying who is playing man.  So the safeties have to be more interchangeable.

It’s possible, but I think a lot of those guys listed is more hindsight. Jones I remember laughing at. Just my gut feeling it’s going to be more like the EJ Manuel/Geno Smith draft than last years with 5 going top 15. Plus some of the bad teams people are projecting QBs to have multiple 1sts next year to address the QB. I don’t think teams like Seattle or Atlanta will reach on bad QBs when there is a good shot they are picking 1 and 2 next year.

Cine has high potential. Dax Hill too.

after that I just dont see much to get excited about

Would be perfectly happy with a playmaker like Brisker in the 2nd.  Pitre has the ability too

If the Eagles feel the urgent need to make a high pick on a WR then they should wait until the 2nd or 3rd and get Christian Watson.  6-4 height with 4.3 speed.  Comes from a championship program.

Good choice. I’ve recently got my hopes up for Jameson Williams at 18, he’d really make a difference.

He could sneak in to late round 1.  No way he's there in the late 2nd or 3rd.

Cine and Williams would be a nice 1st round.

Like others have said.  I'd rather have Hill than Cine.

Nah too many QB needy teams, not enough good qb's to go around. And when you dont have one, you have to take chances. I say two in top 15

3 go in the first rd.

6’4” 4.3 WR with any production or intermittent big plays whatsoever won’t slip past mid round 2.

WRs with specs and questionable production/competition go earlier and earlier every year.

I like Hill a lot too.  I think Hill is more versatile than Cine but I just love what Cine brings purely as a safety.

I don't know enough about Jonathan Gannon to say he would be good at moving a guy like Hill around to use him best....same with my hesitance in loving the Reddick signing, does Gannon know how to use him to get the best out of him?

I wouldn't be made at Daxton Hill at all however.

Cine has a nastiness, aggressiveness and physicality about him that this defense lacks so much.  I would love for him to be an Eagle.

Too bad they didn't land Williams, him and Cine would have been a nice combination. I do like the safeties in this class and would be "ok" with even Dax Hill at 18. He looks like a well rounded safety to me. Can even play slot if Gannon wants to be creative.

we need safeties who can cover.

Needs safeties who can cover and play the run , and who can play all over in the secondary , most of the top ones can

I think when it comes to QB we have to ignore the talent level and just look at the position itself and that teams are desperate to find their franchise guy.  Look 1st round QBs taken.  You have to go back to 2013 to find the last time a QB didn't go in the top 15.

2021- 5, all in top 15

2020-  4, 3 in top 10, Jordan love at 26

2019- 3, all in top 15

2018- 5, 4 in the top 10, Lamar Jackson at 32

2017- 3, all in top 10

2016- 3, first 2 picks and Paxton Lynch at 26

2015- 2, first 2 picks

2014- 3, one in top 5

2013- 1, pick 16, EJ Manuel

2012- 4, 3 in top 10, Brandon Weeden at 22.

There are QB needy teams in the top 15.

Detroit, Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle,  Washington, possibly Houston.

Yea, that would have been nice to get Williams.  It is a nice safety class.  See my above post.  Does Gannon have the creativity to use a guy like Hill to his max potential or would he come here and just get plugged in to a single position.

I like Butler too , he reminds me of a much faster Whitehead  ,  he can close in a hurry  , just as physical , yet more in control .

Mckinley is probably the best playmaker of them all .

but I have been saying for months that Pitre will be the best  in the class , and I still think the same .

Cine is an elite athlete with very good production at a top 5 school. He's 22, so his age profile is fine. He played in the most complex defense in college football (yes, even more than Alabama). Cine is worth a late 1st if we trade down.

Ironically, Lance Zierlein compared him to Anthony Harris. Harris in his prime was good!

If teams do ignore QB in the top 15 this draft then they’re insanely dumb.  The #6 overall pick in the draft will make less than $7M per season on a 4-year entry level deal, with a 5th year option also cost controlled, and the ability to franchise tag after that.

Meanwhile, used QBs were pulled off the scrap heap by ATL, PIT and NO at a higher cost, for only 1-2 years of control.  The odds of Winston, Trubisky or Mariota becoming a long term starter for a franchise are slimmer than these guys coming out this year.

Watson is going in the 1st.  He was the best WR at the Senior Bowl then tore it up at the Combine.  I wouldn't be surprised if he is the Eagles pick at 18.

I’d be very surprised if the Eagles went with him in round 1.  They almost always go for more refined, less explosive, inferior athletes at WR.  The one year they went against their normal protocol (as an over-compensation for the JJAW over Metcalf miss), they went for Reagor over Jefferson.  So that won’t happen again.

Big, fast, and raw are not a combo they go for at WR.

And what draft class does this years compare to most in the last 10 years? Were there not QB needy teams in 2013?

Like I said to someone else, Atlanta and Seattle have a good shot at being #1 and #2 next year. Why waste a pick this year on sub optimal QB’s when they can just get a better one next year? Detroit, likewise, has 2 firsts next year. Why waste the #2 overall on Willis this year when they can try to make the move next year? There’s also still Mayfield and Jimmy G out there that QB needy teams can go after.

Because none of those teams have 1st year coaches and job security.
