hes the Jordan Howard improvement. Hes not the game breaking speed guy.

I get where he’s slotting in, I just don’t see it as an NFL runner. Hope I’m wrong but hard to see

Just reading about WIll Smith's marriage and I have no idea how it has lasted this long.  Jada doesn't seem to be that fond of him; cried at her wedding because her relation didn't approve of having a kid out of wedlock, complained that her 40th birthday was all about his ego, etc.

In some respects, he deserves a lifetime achievement award from men for putting up with her all this time 😉

If he stays after this, it's his own fault.

You're blind. Hurts has a stronger arm, his mechanics are erratic, and that hurts his accuracy on his long ball.

If Minshew had an arm as strong as Hurts, he'd be starting in the NFL.

No Hurts arm is inferior to Minshew. Its a tire on Hurts best day

A friend just sent me this Tweet thread from Chris Pronger.  Very interesting reading for any NFL player drafted

What are the knocks on McKinley other than size? It seems like draft analysts aren’t that high on him.

Decent vision/angles but don’t see nfl burst from haskins

I'm not a huge fan but would be fine there if they got him with a late round pick. I'm ready to kick RB to next years draft at this point. Focus on defense, o-line and a WR maybe a complimentary TE this year. This year you have Scott, Sanders and Gainwell. If you want to sign a veteran insurance policy after the draft, they are cheap and usually productive for their cost, that's fine as well.

I’m not the only one who has London WO 1

As a WSU fan living in the area, I guarantee I have watched more Minshew than anyone  on this board.  His arm is stronger than Hurts.

I'm not a Georgy  fan but it's good. He could be a solid power player on the edge. I'm on the Mafe and Ebiketie bandwagon now with a trade back option. Perfect world to me is we have 4 picks in the first two rounds. There's more positions of need than we can shake a stick at.

I dont know what happened to him.

Ive noticed on TDN, Alec Pierce has dropped after blowing up the combine. McKinley had dropped from a round 2 to a round 7 player. He might be around round 5 now. Jurgens hasnt been bumped up their board at all. Castro-Fields might have moved up but theyve had him as a UDFA mostly.

There are some values that seem way off, but they werent always that way. Suggests to me that theyve heard something to make them adjust these guys.

Step one when becoming a pro athlete, get a financial advisor you trust and live like you will get cut tomorrow.  No big spending, even after the second contract.

Trouble is most of them spend money as fast as they earn it.  That's how anyone can end up in financial trouble.  The issue isn't what they earned, it is how they handled it.

Id have hope for Karalaftis. Hes not my preferred guy, but they all may be gone anyway.

It might be better to take Cameron Thomas, Logan Hall, or Ebiketie later as well. But, I wont be mad.

Forget where I heard it but someone was pointing out the attention that he gets. The example was in the minnesota game where Faallele was the tackle, but they also brought their other tackle over next to him, and they used their big blocking TE. He listed the weights of those 3 guys who were all ganging up on Karalaftis, and it amounted to "1000 pounds of protection". Thats some serious respect for a team to committ that kind of protection to his side.

I know its against all I have said about Barnett where the pressures are pretty impressive even though he doesnt finish a play with sacks. But this guy really has his work cut out for him. Im not sure teams even did that when Barnett was in college setting the sack record. I dont think an NFL team can afford that kind of attention to 1 player. Certainly not when facing the rest of our DL. He is more athletic than people expected. He has prototype size. He may have a better pro career than college career.

Not unlike many 20 somethings, the difference is scale. Your advice about getting a financial adviser is spot on. I imagine many young pro athletes don't have trustworthy family members to turn to for advice.

Agreed.   I got myself into financial trouble early on in my career... but with quite a few less 0's on the end of my paycheck... and with a much longer earning window, where as I work more, my earnings generally went up.  And now, at 44... the only debt I have is investments in my home.   Mortgage and an HVAC loan to upgrade those a year ago, at 0% interest.

I don't have extra money anymore... because its all going to retirement savings or a little rainy day fund.   "Discretionary spending" is extremely limited, and budgeted.

If you watched that much Minshew than the only conclusion is you're biased. It's not and you're embarrassing yourself.

Just throwing this out into the ether...  why don't professional teams hire a financial planning company to take care of their rookies.  No obligation for the rookies to participate, but offer them a 'trusted' partner to invest their money wisely.

I’m not a fan at all. Not even in my top 7.

Can’t wait for the draft so we can move on from QB fantasy talk 😂😂

Hurts is the 2022 starter

QB Combine Velocity NFL Combine 2008-2020:

2019 — Gardner Minshew, 55 (Left) 53 (Right)

2020 — Jalen Hurts, 54 (Left), 51 (Right)

This stuff isn’t all that hard to look up.  Watching the 2 players through their careers it’s clear Minshew is a target passer who throws to spots.  He’s a 63.2% career passer.

Hurts is a running QB who lofts his throws and looks his best as a passer out of the sandlot after the scripted play breaks down (although in many cases it’s Hurts himself who has gone off-script)

Will be very interesting to see how these receivers pan out in the next few years. Lots of differing opinions.

The league has seminars for rookies, and I think teams also provide guidance.

Problem is they have "friends," and if rich, supposedly sophisticated investors get taken in by people like Madoff in Ponzi schemes, no surprise that young NFL players get burnt on a regular basis. Hey, I got this great business you should invest in . . .

Supposedly Gronkowski hasn't spent a dime of his salary, and has lived off his endorsements.

You don't even need a financial advisor (a good accountant for tax purposes), just invest what you don't need to live a decent life in index funds and walk away.

And don't buy six cars and a house triple the size of what you actually need.

So you’re saying this sauce chain before you make any money is a bad idea?
