Smart. Bringing in Pickens to work against Gardner.

Yeah.  Not believing it, or the trade would have been made already.  Teams -- plural?  A 5th round pick should have been done already.

That’s assuming Howie is capable of admitting a mistake and agreeing to a trade that a) he loses and b) highlights how terrible of a first round pick he was 2 years later. It wouldn’t shock me that there is some unrealistic bar like a Day 2 pick that is the baseline for it to happen.

Question for the blog:

If Howie is hellbent on taking a QB at 15, in which order would you rank them from "I'd be okay with/like" to "I absolutely hate this"?

Can you rank them all as 'I absolutely hate this?'

If they take any QB this year, I hope it is Aqeel Glass in the 3rd round. He needs a year on the bench and a coach to work on his mechanics, but he is a big QB with a big arm and a pretty good decision-maker. He will go through his progressions and stay in the pocket but is mobile enough to leave when necessary.

To me, he is worth a 3rd round flyer on.

This should be one he defers to the Head Coach with the WR coach background.  If Sirianni says he can't use him, then there has to be an immediate effort to recoup something/anything.  We know Quez was a #200 overall pick and has already passed Reagor on the depth chart.  If Howie is holding out at all, then he'll be left holding the bag.

If Howie could get a 4th or better then he's pulling the wool over someone.

Pickett and Strong are the 2 most likely to succeed as true QBs who can read defenses and make all the throws. Pickett even adds some athleticism.

Taking any at 15 is really a really tough sell. Not sure anyone would be happy at all.

In the given scenario where its happening anyway, probably can live with any of Pickett, Strong (I know he fell out of the 1st round discussion but that shouldnt matter), or Ridder.

Ridder is well ahead of Willis for me. Ridder's mechanics are way off. But Willis doesnt seem to have the mental processing ability, and thats something that you cant really fix.

I wouldnt burn the city down over Howell, or Corall later, but not at 15.

Is Howie's actually saying no to anything here?

Yeah.  Someone believes this?

Likely the Eagles trying to drum up interest.

I was noticing during the Danny Gray video that Tanner Mordekai is way more talented than Hurts.

Reagor has a 7M dead cap hit if cut. We take a 3.6M cap hit if traded.

I would gladly trade him for a 2037 conditional 7th.

What ???  Haven't you heard, Jalen Hurts is going to fix that in this 3rd rookie year.

Trouble is, he has a hit for the team acquiring him, as his salary is guaranteed.  $4.2M for the acquiring team.   Unlikely a team would want to give anything to take that on.

This is why I can't see another team trading for him. I know the WR prices are crazy, but 4M for a trainwreck is crazy

Ironically lower than the cap figure the Eagles for Alshon Jeffery in 2021...  AND 2022!!!

Regardless of profession, the old saw about the three-legged stool holds true for retirement: pension, social security, and savings. To which I would add good medical insurance.

So, four-legged chair.

You will be looking long and hard to find a private company that offers a pension plan.

People complain that there's no company loyalty anymore but this is why. There's literally no reason to stick around anymore unless they give you a reason to and keep up with market rates for your position.

We bought our most recent rental property with cash.

The last two cars we bought, I went to the dealer with a number written down on a post-it note. This number was the max I was willing to spend. Time 1 the salesman tried to haggle with me so I walked out, only to be called less than an hour later by his "manager" agreeing to my offer. Time 2 they took it right away--should have low balled a little better I guess.

We pay cash for big ticket items. No usury, no interest, just straight cash homie. It's the only way.

Sounds like sound investment strategy, well except for being a landlord, that’s a second job.  I pay no one any interest. I expect them to "pay” me.

But if you pay cash for everything big, you aren’t always maximizing your options. Some places offer 0% interest for x months with no early payment penalty.  I negotiate cars similar to you. But if they offer me a 0% interest deal on financing (with no early payoff penalty) , I point out value of that and ask for that off the deal if I pay cash. If the answer is no (and for dealers, it can be because they get an incentive), take the financing, invest the money, and pay off the car before the interest cuts in.  I buy a lot on my cash back credit card, unless the vendor offers a discount for cash. (Driving to and from Texas, when not getting 5% cash back $.20 a gallon on $4 gas) I pay cash when the discount is $.10 a gallon, but I also use the free brand reward cards (usually good for $03-$.05 a gallon regardless if I pay cash or use a cash back card.  When the cash back is 1.5% it is $.06 off a gallon on $4 gas.  But I am set up so my card is paid off monthly so I never carry a balance. (Never pay for a credit card.  My cashback cards are free.) Negotiate everything big.  They will cut you deals a lot of the time.  Free delivery.  Sticker price is rarely the price.  You would be surprised what can be negotiated. (May take talking with the manager.) But time is money, there is a limit to what I will spend my time on.

Cincinnati uses some NFL passing concepts, not as much as Pitt did with Whipple, but as a day one starter, Ridder should be fine if his throwing motion can get reeled in a bit. It’s not as bad as Paxton Lynch, but it’s not great.  Hopefully Jordan Palmer can help him with that, but it’s not an overnight fix.
If Strong can clean up his passes out to 10 yards, he should be pretty good, he does the most pre-and post-snap work of any QB in this draft. His intermediate passes have always been money.
The best one I heard about Pickett was, "the difference between his and Burrows final season in college is that Burrow had two All Pro receivers catching his passes”.   I don’t think Pickett is that talented but the way Whipple uses his WR’s, levels concepts with trips right or left, just a difference in depth or distance, you’d need a calculator to count how many times Pickett went to the single side on 3rd and longs, and completed the pass for 1st down.   Pickett is easily a top 5 pick if he had 9 1/2” hands, then again I’m in the Majors with a 95MPH slider, sooo, lol.

Did he stay at SMU?  He was having a pretty good season until they ran into Cincinnati.  I don’t think he’s ever seen a CB like Gardner.  SMU was a top 2-3 offense in the AAC when they played and they didn’t let Mordecai complete much of anything.

Fun fact, he was also his backup at Oklahoma.

When it comes to mortgages, you also have to calculate how much you can make with the money if you invest it vs paying up front for a house.

I'd trade Reagor for an endzone pylon. Wouldn't even demand the ones with a camera in them.  Just a practice field one would be fine.
