The Bosa Bros were two of the most polished and technically sound pass rushers ever to enter the NFL. Karlaftis in a not that. And not doing a three cone is a bit of a red flag. That tends to be an important test for pass rushers.

I don't hate Karlaftis, I just do not understand the appeal.  In a draft that supposedly has such incredible DE depth, it feels that a talent like Karlaftis should be a great value pick in round 2.  And yet people are mocking him to the Eagles with our own mid 1st picks.

If we are getting a DE with a fairly apparent ceiling at 18, then I have a hard time buying that this is a great, deep edge class.  And if it is, that sure isn't great value for us.

Not sure if posted but this was Mafe at Pro Day

The Golden Valley native weighed in at 257 pounds, and showed off a 41.5-inch vertical leap. He also ran a 4.20 short shuttle. Mafe did not run a 40-yard dash after running a 4.53 at the NFL Combine. He’s a freak athlete and will add tremendous skill on an NFL defensive line. He finished the 2021 season Second Team All-Big Ten, leading the Gophers with seven sacks and 10 tackles for loss. In 42 career games, he had 89 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks.

There's the upside play at DE.  He's not a stiff workout warrior; it's clear to see he knows how to explode off the LOS.  The solid rookie year from someone like Oweh with the Ravens despite zero pass rush productivity in college probably boosts the stock of raw, edge rush only athletes in the draft.

Ojabo’s injury really took the steam out of us getting a first-round edge IMO.

Most places have him going top 10-15.  Not sure how he slips to round 2?

If the Eagles draft Karlaftis and he becomes Ryan Kerrigan, that's a terrific pick.  Provided he isn't the Eagles Ryan Kerrigan.

I don't see Thibodeaux/Merriman at all.  Merriman was an explosive athletic freak and a workout warrior with huge passion for the game.  I don't see that at all in Thibodeaux.

He’s my favorite DE for the Eagles assuming the usual suspects are gone. I prefer him to Karlaftis.

I’m not sure about fit with Reddick playing with his hand in the dirt on third down and Sweat also being at his best as a wide 9 rusher. Mafe apparently was taken off the field on a lot of early downs. I don’t know if that’s because he’s bad vs the run or they wanted to save his energy and juice for more of the passing downs.

We went from being between Ojabo and Davis to now hoping QBs start going in the Top 10 to miraculously have someone drop to us.

People don't like him because he's a white DE.  Purely a visual bias.

No, we don't like Hurts because he's white.

Tbh it was agholor, Jordan Matthews, before that I'd say maclin. Smh that list is crap.. FO needs to do better instead of selling us excuses. Unfortunately some fans keep buying them hoping for any sign of good.

Maclin??? He used to tackle himself 😂

Going back to Karlaftis. What’s the better value for a power rusher:

* Karlaftis in round 1

* Logan Hall in a trade down in round 1 or trade up in round 2

* Paschal or Enagbare in round 2

Paschal.

Getting that kind of athleticism at EDGE in RD2 is excellent. I think he goes top 40, so we'd have to trade up/down.

Hey!!! That may be true but he did break other teams tackles as well 😂

I'd take Mafe or Ebiketie in the top 40 before Paschal, even though I like his Terry Tate ripoff commercials.

Some recent NFL mocks for the Eagles picks:

CBS -- Ryan Wilson has Jordan Davis and Devin Lloyd; Trapasso has Jameson Williams and Jermaine Johnson; Josh Edwards has Karlaftis and Lloyd

Tankathon -- Lloyd and Karlaftis

PFF -- Davis and Lloyd

TDN -- Kyle Hamilton and Devonte Wyatt

NFLN -- Rhett Lewis has Linderbaum and Dean

Fansided -- Stingley and Karlaftis

ESPN -- Jordan Reid has Trent McDuffie and Karlaftis

Athlon Sports -- Daxton Hill and Chris Olave

A lot of mocks with Karlaftis and Devin Lloyd.

If a mock has us taking Lloyd, I don't take it seriously.

Love Paschal but it's hard to even call him a rusher at all.

I really,  really like Logan Hall. So I chose that trade down option.

Cameron Thomas is all too often overlooked.  He may be better than any of them.

Agree on Thomas. Just please no Enagbare.

This is another one where we are just comparing shared weaknesses between players with similar size.

I don't know how accurate TO pro-day numbers are at this point...TO was one of the fastest WRs in the NFL in his prime.  His game speed and explosiveness definitely reflected a Julio Jones / Andre Johnson type of WR who ran a 4.3 and jumps 40".  He was really only second to Randy Moss in his era for that elite, explosive WR throne.  If those numbers are all accurate, then TO just transformed into a different human being at some point early in his career.  Baring a similar transformation, I don't think the Burks comparison holds up.

Burks looks every bit the athlete TO was on the field.  The workout numbers are deceiving.

You shouldn't take any mock seriously.  All of them turn out to be wildly inaccurate.

Oh if we stay put we are drafting O and/or D lineman at those spots.  Thats what we do with mid level 1st rd draft picks. So my guess is we get a Edge rusher and a DT.

I don't think anyone will trade into the top 10 unless Detroit takes Willis at 2 and someone jumps Carolina/Seattle for Pickett/Corral

Paschal has pretty bad production.. Something like 13 sacks in 45 games played.  Is he 23 or 24?

If we consider both Josh Sweat and Reddick to be "speed" edge rushers, I'd be on board with taking a more powerful DE such as Karlaftis or Jermaine Johnson.  Someone who can set the edge, be strong against the run and has a bull rush much like Graham typically does.

Draft high sack upside speed edge rushers. Sign veteran edge setting run stuffers in FA.

Big fan of Kyron Johnson and Barno as pass rushers , 2 very good athletes

I like Barno on day 3 as a backup for Reddick
