Draft high sack upside speed edge rushers. Sign veteran edge setting run stuffers in FA.

The Eagles have already signed a high sack upside speed edge rusher in FA -- Reddick at 3 years/$45M, along with Sweat at 3 years/$40M.  Might as well draft some players with complementary skills.

I'm intrigued to see how Gowan plays out. Know he got a little playing time towards the end of the year but I really liked him coming out of UCF.

It would just be nice to have somebody to throw it up to on 3rd downs/TDs.  Somebody who can create some YAC.  When was the last time the Eagles had a WR who could break a damn tackle?

YAC in college has more to do with the pass catcher, vs the NFL and it has more to do with the QB.   Cooper Kupp led the NFL in 2021 and it’s not because he’s elusive, or super hard to tackle, Stafford hits him on those TE seam routes in stride.  4.6 speed in stride is damn fast.
When it comes to bigger receivers, 6’2” and up 200 plus lbs, the great route runners with good hands and 4.4 speed end up in the HOF.
It’s a unique skill to be that big and fast to be able to turn on a dime.  It took Megatron a few years in the NFL to be a good route runner but imagine being that big and fast trying to run a dig, or a comeback?  If you sell it full speed it’s more likely you’ll blow out your knees than catch any pass, they typically don’t have the hips for it because their legs are so long.

Those of you who follow the prospects super closely, could you tell me more about any of Jalen Tolbert, Tyler Smith, Braxton Jones, or Sam Williams? Intriguing profiles.

Sam Williams is a beast. Very underrated. Watch some of his tape and you will see why.

Eric is plugged-in, but the ACL is not a scout thing. He could be #1 on boards right now, but not selected for medical.

You dominate the SEC and have NFL measurables, you're #1 to me. The injury was a clean ACL tear, right? He should be fine.

Some recent NFL mocks for the Eagles picks:

CBS -- Ryan Wilson has Jordan Davis and Devin Lloyd; Trapasso has Jameson Williams and Jermaine Johnson; Josh Edwards has Karlaftis and Lloyd

Tankathon -- Lloyd and Karlaftis

PFF -- Davis and Lloyd

TDN -- Kyle Hamilton and Devonte Wyatt

NFLN -- Rhett Lewis has Linderbaum and Dean

Fansided -- Stingley and Karlaftis

ESPN -- Jordan Reid has Trent McDuffie and Karlaftis

Athlon Sports -- Daxton Hill and Chris Olave

A lot of mocks with Karlaftis and Devin Lloyd.

Walterfootball has us with Jordan Davis and Kyle Hamilton. I would love that. Also has us taking:

Roger McCreary at 51

Luke Goedeke at 83

Kevin Austin Jr at 101

Tyler Badie at 124

Aqeel Glass at 154

Isiah Pola-Moa at 162

Matthew Butler at 166

On the same site, Charlie Campbell has us taking Trevor Penning at 15, then Daxton Hill at 18.

Then Paschal, Spiller and Ridder....

This is another one where we are just comparing shared weaknesses between players with similar size.

I don't know how accurate TO pro-day numbers are at this point...TO was one of the fastest WRs in the NFL in his prime.  His game speed and explosiveness definitely reflected a Julio Jones / Andre Johnson type of WR who ran a 4.3 and jumps 40".  He was really only second to Randy Moss in his era for that elite, explosive WR throne.  If those numbers are all accurate, then TO just transformed into a different human being at some point early in his career.  Baring a similar transformation, I don't think the Burks comparison holds up.

I think what it may go to is that these measurements are not static constants.  This is why Burks' film matters more vs. his raw physical numbers.  His testing numbers are a floor comparison.  He's within a floor of a potentially high end receiver.  He plays on the field much faster than he ran the 40.   It's not like Cooper Kupp is a burner.  He's fast enough and runs away from plenty of defenders.  I am not saying Burks has the same tools as TO but I think you can't write him off as a 1st round prospect just because of his physical testing.

Nope.

For who? Would have to be a QB, DE, or OT for them to move up and none of the QBs are worth it. 3 is pretty high for a CB/S.

You'd have to think one of Hutchinson, Walker or Thibideaux....don't think I'd want to give up the two firsts for that though. They can just have Reagor for free if they want.

I would take Hutchinson but not the other two that high. I'm not sold on Walker.

There is a large overlap between those wanting to pick Jameson Williams off a torn ACL and those who criticized Howie for taking Dickerson in RD2 off a torn ACL.

Dickerson has had season ending injuries his first two years in college, and then ACL in his last year. Different situations.

That and people compare him to Ryan Kerrigan.  People think of the Eagles 33 year old Ryan Kerrigan and not the Ryan Kerrigan who averaged over 10 sacks/season his first 8 years

Once upon a time, Kerrigan was a good to great DE.

Loved the Dickerson picked when it happened, and would love a Jameson pick just the same.

From what I understand, this is Williams first major injury.  Dickerson never finished a season without a major injury.  Huge difference IMO. Williams is also healing very quick.

No QB worth it and no Chase Young level talent

We don’t have a quality QB, WR, or edge and our salary cap is still where it is. Fun.

No worries, Hurts and Sweat were somehow Pro Bowl alternates.

Jameson Williams would be an awesome pick. Two young stud WRs for the next 5+ years.
