That's fair.  I appreciate your differing opinion.  I do agree that everyone's ceiling is different so if the Eagles don't make a move at QB then we'll most likely get to see what his ceiling of learning is.  I don't especially think his is high and would be very surprised if he improved enough to be a solid quality starting NFL QB.

And maybe I wrote it wrong, but I wasn't suggesting these abilities can't be improved upon at all, but IMO they can only be improved upon marginally or maybe moderately at most.  And as poor as he has been in these areas he's going to have to improve at least moderately and perhaps more to be good enough.

I see us being on the same page with only a few differences. First, I acknowledge that you might be right about where Hurts ceiling is. My only confidence is that whatever his ceiling is he will find it, eventually - and that's another key component - I don't wish to wait another 3 years for him to "find it". I "think" his ceiling is higher than most (you). I "think" he has quality starter in him. I also think you're at least partially right about how much those skills can be improved. But I "think" Hurts has a higher ceiling here and is just under developed. As I stated in another post - the success rates for QBs in the NFL is very low. So it wouldn't surprise me if Hurts ceiling is only marginally above where he is right now.

Really hope the Bucs win. Brady vs Jimmy G in the NFC Championship Game is fun for the lead up to the game.  Either Bills or Chiefs winning later would be good.

Stafford is going to be the key to the game though.  He finally got the playoff win monkey off of his back but I think the pressure level of now playing deeper in the playoffs than he ever has before and doing it on the road against Brady just adds the pressure.  He could very well come out and light it up and if he does the Rams will probably be at a level that is going to win the championship this year.  But That's tough.  I think he more likely struggles a bit at times.

But the shoes still matter more.

Don’t worry I’m sure the bengals were still gonna make the AFC championship game two years removed from a two win team without Joe Burrow or be close to an afc title game. You know the guy who likely finishes top 5 in MVP voting. Yeah without that guy definitely they were gonna be able to reach an AFC championship game. Kid got sacked 9 times and 62 times this year and still got the bengals to a afc north title and made a Fing dime throw to chase to get them into field goal range on their final possession.

the San Francisco method of blocking a Field goal, blocking a punt and scoring a touchdown off the blocked punt to get to a NFC title game.  Regardless of how good San Francisco’s defense played last night if it wasn’t for their special team having the game of its life against the worst special team‘s unit in the league they don’t win that game.

Agree with your logic to some degree but it’s the NFL and usually it won’t go as expected. Might just as well be the NFC superpower division again.. feels like that perception changes every few years.

Except for Dallas of course. They consistently suck for decades.

Things do change fast, but right now there is not a single top young QB in the NFC. Jalen Hurts is a pro-bowl alternate FFS.

All the great ones are in the AFC, except maybe Watson might be traded here.

So unless there is an unlikely exodus of top QBs to the NFC or some crazy rookie shows up soon, the NFC will remain a clownshow.

Been reading that Calvin Ridley could be had for less than a 1st rounder. He's young, pretty damn good. Could be a guy who could grow with Smith for 5-10 years. Two Bama boys.

Maybe something like Seumalo and a 3rd for Ridley. Or a 2nd straight up for Ridley. I'd do that.

I don’t know. Don’t like that he only played in five games this year.

The Falcons needed him and he was a no-show. I get he is talented, but I don’t think he is the right guy for us.

Why trade Seumalo?

I guess I'd rather have a 2nd rounder if you could package someone with a 3rd to get Ridley. Could be Dillard. Either way.

Wirfs out

probably move Cappa to RT , Stinne or wells to RG

Huge loss for the Bucs.

If Sean Payon leaves, I guarantee the Cowboys go full court press for him.

And Von Miller is better than Ryan Kerrigan.

Miller is foaming at the mouth.

He's gonna eat.

He could be a sneaky trade candidate depending on how things shake out. I wouldn’t want to move Dickerson off of LG and Kelce could be back. What do you do then with a guy whose got value, is cheap but only has one year left on his deal and no real spot to play?

That would be pretty sweet

As big a loss , is Bucs without 2 of their top 4 WOs , Perriman and Grayson out , they are WO 2 and 3 after Evans

need the young guys to step up , Johnson, Miller and Darden

If Kelce comes back I'm assuming Seumalo goes to RG.

I think RG is Driscoll's spot to lose, he's Stout's favourite from all the reports.

So who starts at RG in week 2 when Driscoll is on IR?

Who needs the young guys to step up?  We don’t.

Seumalo has one year left on his deal. He's at best the #2 OG on the team, so he could play G if we want him to.

I do think another team would offer us good compensation for an above-average starter on a reasonable contract (5M).

IMO, it's extend or trade him.

One would logically assume the Bucs would , you know , seeings as they play for the Bucs , stop trying so hard  , it’s embarrassing .

Seeing as this is an Eagles message board, I was just confused that we need young guys to step up in the Bucs/Rams game.  Maybe I actually need to try harder to figure this out.

The only issue with trading him at this moment is the last two years he’s been injury prone. So you’re not selling him at a peak value. You’re selling him on a decline value because he’s missed so many games the last two years with major injuries. I’m guessing they probably could still get decent value for him because the league is in need of good offensive lineman. But it’s not gonna be as high as some think due to his injury circumstance
