Defenses don't have staying power in the NFL. When you build a great one, they get paid quickly, and you have to keep turning over new players and hit on them

Found my new favorite Hurtscuse on Twitter.

It’s the WRs fault for slowing down on throws down the field. Hurts releases the ball well before the WR gets to where they are supposed to be and they slow down too many times. That’s on the WR, not the QB.

One GMs view on CBs

Licht explained that big athletic corners are more important than ever because receivers don’t run true routes any longer.

"So the corner that had all the great change of direction and all that stuff, you know, that’s still a valuable asset. But if you’re long and you can run a little and you’re instinctive and you can tackle, you know, you’re going to be able to cover these guys now,” Licht said. "So that’s just the way the game has kind of morphed.”

so getting easier to be a corner?

Not sure I understand why length is any less important though.

Yes

and length is still valued

So any updates on Honey Badger?  Anyone have the splits on where he lined up last year/last few years?

oh I see. He doesnt care as much about great change of direction now.

Dont understand that either though. Its not like everyone is just running straight down the field.

Plenty of long corners who can run in this draft

Question is can they tackle and how are their instincts???

I'm sure Howie's view on corners is quite different seeing as the eagles roster is littered with short slot corners🤷‍♂️

JT Daniels to transfer to WV , smart move

If the Eagles win a Super Bowl next year or the year after it clearly won't be the result of a dominant all time great defense.

Never say never. Still quite a few chips to fall this offseason and despite our defense looking like swiss cheese we do have a solid veteran backbone there at all levels.

Veteran backbone at all 3 levels???

Eagles don't have jack at LB.

On the DL Cox is clearly declining and graham is coming off a tough Injury at the age where most DEs are mulling retirement.

Hargrave was ok last year but his contract is up after next and even if they did re sign him at that point he'll be over 30 as well

Slay is what 32 now?

Those arent veteran backbones those are veteran mill stones.

It’s feeling like Strong is going to drop 3rd round maybe further , not a fan of his anyway . Big strong arm statue  .

I did not know that RTK had a Twitter account.

to be fair, thats an incompletion and if it were Hurts in that video we would be saying he should have hit the crosser who had enough for a 1st down.

Also to be fair, if that were Hurts, that ball ends up far underthrown and maybe picked by the safety who was out of position.

Rolling to the left and not stepping in to it, that is an impressive display of arm strength by Corral. But we need to draft more than just arm strength. Dont need to look for someone who throws 55 yard incompletions. That doesnt really help anything.

He's good value In the 3rd And beyond.

Probably has the best arm in the draft, and while he was a statue, who cares??? Brady, manning , Nick foles all won super bowls.

Ill take a guy with arm talent over a guy with questionable arm talent but superior athletic traits.

If eagles took him in the 3rd I'd be ok with that and think he's good value at that point.

I'm not a hurts advocate but if he turned out to be all the things the squirters proclaim he can be I'd be ecstatic.

One less thing to worry about.

Chances of that happening in my opinion, not great.

I'd give better odds on $2.00 gas in the next two weeks. It could happen I suppose but ........... yeah.

Is this true?

What I have against the defense is that it has long been neglected and as a result we have no young cornerstone players to build around.  Our best players are 30+ so their best days are behind them.  They aren't magically going to improve on the opposite side of 30.  It's why I hope that most if not all of the draft picks over the first two days of the draft are on the defense.

We don't have a young cornerstone player to build around at QB either.

Corral has become my favorite QB in this draft by far. I wish he were an inch or 2 taller, but otherwise he's the only guy this year who pretty much has everything.

- Quick and tight throwing mechanics.

- Big and accurate arm.

- Was not asked to go through reads or complicated concepts.

- Everything was quick passing and RPOs.

He says teams need to evaluate his ability to process and make decisions, it's not that he can't do it, he just wasn't asked to do it in Ole Miss.

With how everything is trending I'm wondering if we're going to have a crazy run on WR. I'm doubtful whether Pickens and Watson make it out of the Top 40 now.

Yea, I think you're right.  It seems the best teams are going after a great QB and at least 3 legit WR.  The Eagles need help on defense but the direction of the league is big time offense.  Hurts or no Hurts, I think the Eagles are silly to walk out of round 1 without a WR.  I just hope there is still one worth taking.

Hard to complain about a guy 6'2 though when there's a lot of 6'0 and under this year and next

They met with him at the combine, and he is one of the 30 visits they have at the team facility pre draft.

massive gamble. thats the same story with Trubisky as a prospect. Look how that turned out.

Aqueel Glass offers all of the same things as these early guys, and you can have Glass round 7 or UDFA according to draft sites.
