It would be absolutely hilarious if we do take a QB in the first round just because of the Hurts fans though. That would be an entertaining meltdown

Who do you think would melt down?

The only meltdown that would occur in here is if they draft Willis. And it wouldn't be by Hurts fans.

You are telling me you would not be upset if they drafted a QB then traded Hurts ??

Orlavsky is not as high on him:

- Doesn't always make the right read.

- Accuracy falls when he goes further in his reads.

- Misses opportunities in the passing game.

- Intriguing yet difficult to evaluate QB.

Yeah, watching that video it sounded like Hurts 2.0 mentally

A lot of people in my facebook group. This isn't the only place I socialize for Eagles stuff

Sounds somewhat familiar…

Why would I possibly be upset?

They are the ones doing the work. If they find someone they think can be better than Hurts, what basis do I have to think they are wrong?

They have tried to trade for Watson and Wilson. They wanted to trade up for Zach Wilson last year. I am under no illusions that they are committed to Hurts.

Nah, that excuse only works for Hurts despite the fact that the Browns are a dumpster fire of an organization and Baker is better.

Normally I'd say I'm okay with them taking a QB if they love one but 2023 is supposed to be a lot better. How do you justify taking one in 2022 and then in 2023. Or maybe we miss out on one in 2023

Brady and Manning are first ballot hall of famers  ,Brady is the best to ever play the game , Foles isn’t even a average QBS . Dilfer won a Super Bowl too .

What's your point?

Plenty of big armed " statues" have won the super bowl as have plenty of guys who were a little more athletic.

Don't like Carson strong or don't want him that's fine, but to imply he's not going to be good because he's just a big armed statue when plenty of big armed statue qbs have won doesn't seem to be a logical reason why a QB won't succeed.

If strong doesnt make it as an NFL QB it won't because he's a big armed statue, it will be because he never learned how to use that big arm in the NFL.

I don't follow the league as much as I used to.  What's your opinion of Gilmore now?

We don't have a young cornerstone player to build around at QB either.

I think we do but we will find out for sure this year.  Regardless the offense has plenty of young cornerstone players throughout it.  Which is a direct opposite of what we see in the offensive side of the ball.

But for those of you here to suggest if the Eagles win the Super Bowl this upcoming season or the following with Hurts that you wouldn't re-sign him because they would have won in spite of him is silly because of they win the Super Bowl it will be, among other reasons, that Hurts took a substantial step forward. This defense is going to suddenly turn into the 2000 Ravens overnight because of the addition of Reddick.  There is potential upside in place on offense.  There really isn't any on defense at this stage.

Never say never. Still quite a few chips to fall this offseason and despite our defense looking like swiss cheese we do have a solid veteran backbone there at all levels.

No.

What was so bad about Nelson last year?

Played off so much he wasn’t that successful in coverage.  8 PDs, 1 Int, 108 rating.  2/3rd of his targets were completions, 12 yd completion average.  McPhearson, albeit a smaller sample, was just over 50% completion rate, 69 rating (lower than Slay’s) and a completion average close to Slays. Now don’t take that as a comparison of McPhearson to Slay, take that as how poor Nelson was.  Granted a small sample size but Nelson was the worst of the starters and of those that got playing time enough to say much about, only Wallace and Epps were worse in rating and completion percentage. Now, I know that Gannon and Wilson were running a loose zone most of the year and it wasn’t pretty for most of the DBs but Nelson wasn’t very good.  Not a big loss.

He's playing against defenses from BumbleF University, and not even dominating the division. I mean they did have that big win against AR-Pine Bluff last year though.

Could be why he's a UDFA. But if you're honest we are drafting any QB this year based on talent and potential.  Not an NFL resume in college.  None this year have it.  You're acting a of there are legit QB prospects this year.  There aren't.
