That's ideal. And if you don't get an equitable option to trade down, and have to take someone...?

Probably Wilson. Personally, I like Booth and Hill at 18 so it's pretty much guaranteed one of them would be there so I don't mind passing on DB at 15. Knowing the Eagles I could see them going Wilson and Karlaftis even though it wouldn't be my favorite.

I don’t see them taking a QB in the first round at 15 or 18. I could see them if someone like Pickett or corral falls to the end of the first potentially thinking about doing what the ravens did. However i really don’t see either falling to that point. I think at this point they are 99% going with Hurts in 2022.

I think what’s not talked about enough is the eagles likely have scouted and reports on the 2023 QB class and have views on those QBs. Since things can change a lot in a year, the scouting of Pickett and corral is to pick their brain and see if they could be potentially better than what they currently see in 2023

Valid point. I do also think that Howie is unpredictable, and rarely goes with the consensus pick at their slot. I would not be shocked if a QB they didn't expect to be there at 15 is there, and they pull the trigger. More like a "holy ish, I can't believe he's available" moment.

I think we are preemptively calling next year a great QB class. There's some guys I'm definitely interested in, like McCall, Jurkovec, McKee, Van Dyke, etc. but I think the "class" is being considered that much higher simply because there are two clearcut options for the top 5 picks in Stroud and Young, of which there are none this year. And there's no guarantee we can get high enough for either (and I'm not a Young fan to begin with). The other guys...a lot will depend on their NCAA years. Some will rise, some will fall.

Been saying this for a while. There’s a chance the top 2 teams in next year’s draft needs and wants a QB and doesn’t want to trade out. Secondly there’s a chance teams are higher than the eagles with multiple picks that can beat the eagles offer.

That's fair. I could see Wilson/Booth.

I’m probably going with a duo of Wilson/Booth/Hill here. I think Hill and Wilson would my choices just because it doesn’t seem like Gannon values CB

Yeah I think Wilson/Booth would be mine if no trade down partner, and I don't even want a WR in the first.

The most likely scenario for a QB I could see is a trade back from 18 and then Howie drafts the QB with the late first or early second & gets another pick.  Like a Ridder or Strong type guy. But I think they are probably going with Hurts which might make sense long run but stinks to have to watch this season

I‘d be shocked.

If they really wanted a QB they wouldn‘t just sit there and wait for one. And if they are only lukewarm on one they won‘t take him even if they thought he‘d go earlier.

Ok, so we went Wilson/Booth R1. Here's what's on the board at 51:

Obviously they're not taking Dotson, Gordon, or Pickens if they went WR/CB in R1. Again, no trade downs available that make sense. Who do you take after Wilson/Booth? I'd probably be taking Cam Thomas.

I've been saying it as well. It's more like do you think there are 4 guys next year all better than the first guy this year?  I have no idea and we know how much that perception can change in a year

I guess. I view it more this way if they were really in love with one of those quarterbacks they would move up, move heaven and earth to try to get them because they don’t want to potentially miss out on them. I don’t think they would just settle because they like the kid and he fell into the slot where they thought the value was right. They’re not trying to just get the right value for a quarterback. They’re trying to get a franchise quarterback. If they believe one of those guys was a franchise quarterback They would be frantically behind the scenes trying to make magic happen like they did with wentz trade.

After the Saints trade, I'd be shocked too. Just like I was shocked when they took Hurts in R2 when we had Wentz, a fireman in the 1st round, Reagor over Jefferson, etc. etc. etc. My point is NOTHING Howie does shocks me anymore.

Pitre could certainly be an option.

Damn, no Faalele or Leal?

Linderbaum seems like a stellar second rounder to me though.

We forget this QB class at the start of last year was expected to be better than what it turned out to be. It could very well play out the same way next year but i tend to think stroud is going to be great next year and secure no. 1 overall pick.

I'd agree with Thomas but I would be okay with Walker there too. I know they'd probably see Linderbaum as BPA but I'd rather let that ship sail.

That's because at that time people thought Rattler would be a surefire stud...that turned out well.

You know that's not always the case, yes?

In general.

Jerry Jones hearing a guy they spent a 2nd round pick on who was kicked out of 2 college programs and was told to stay away because of character concerns is an accessory to murder and didn't tell the police anything.

I didn’t like rattler from the start but i also think people thought Howell would be significantly better. I watch him he just reminds me of less accomplished poor man’s baker mayfield. That’s not an accolade you want. I disliked baker when he went first that year.

I can't get there with him. There are nice C prospects on day 3 that I would gladly take over him in R1/2.

I think he got screwed a bit when they lost their top 2 WR's and top 2 RB's in the same draft class and didn't have a ton behind them.
