Starting Minshew is worth 2 more wins.

Absolutely.  That 8-14 career record screams wins.

Minshew appears to have a better TD to INT ratio and higher completion percentage.

He is, which is why Minshew will be riding the bench again this year if he is even still on the team.

Minshew was also on a terrible Jaguars team.

He's well on his way to being the next Ryan Fitzpatrick.  Which I'm cool with, as long as we don't go through the motions of treating him as a starter like Fitz was for a while.

What is he better at besides running?

I wonder how your man Hurts would have fared on those Jags teams. Or how about all-world QB and Massage Maestro Watson's Texans teams?

If Minshew gets traded, it's because the Eagles drafted a QB to replace Hurts

Can you name any QB who was not terrible on the Jaguars in the last 10 years? It just goes hand to hand, lol.

He has that it factor that is needed for winning.  Hurts probably has a little bit of a stronger arm.  And yeah the ability to run makes him a much more dynamic player with more upside than what Minshew offers.  The more Hurts develops as a passer the wider the gap will become between those two.

Well probably wouldn't do any worse with that Texans team than Watson seeing as they won the same amount of games last year without him than they did with him the year prior.  No idea what Watson and the Texans even have to do with this conversation though.

Probably would be because Minshew is becoming a disgruntled distraction.  He forced his way out of Jacksonville when he wasn't allowed to start so I suspect he will start similiar noise here as well.

what makes you so confident Hurts will continue to develop and Minshew can't?  I'd also argue that Minshew has an "IT" factor about him.  People gravitate towards him.

I'm pretty sure Minshew understands nobody is looking at making him a starter and that his best chance of that happening is right here at the moment.

Jaguars selected QB Trevor Lawrence #1 overall.

Minshew was expendable and had value.

Where is there any story that Minshew is disgruntled?

He asked what he needs to do to be the starter (probably because he can see for himself that Hurts sucks as a QB). That's the only story.

People don't gravitate towards Hurts?

Minshew could keep developing but his ceiling is limited.  People in this blog love to go after Hurts for his arm strength but Minshew has the same arm strength at best.  He doesn't have the same ability at a running to go along with that though.  Minshew is about to turn 26 meanwhile Hurts won't be turning 24 until August.  With the physical tools and abilities that Hurts has along with his younger age I see him as having a higher ceiling.  Plus when it comes to QB I think it benefits to have a guy who takes himself a bit more seriously than someone trying to be a class clown.

The value of a 6th round pick apparently.  But Minshew wanted to be traded when it was clear to him he wouldn't be starting and he requested the Jaguars trade him.  It wasn't because the Eagles blew them off their seat with the offer of a 6th round draft pick.

If Hurts is so much better than Minshew he should have been much better playing QB for the Jags than Minshew was, wouldn't he? I was thinking Texans because they're another ishy team. Would Hurts have done well there? All of Minshew's NFL exposure has been with the Jags except for the one Eagles game.  Maybe ishy teams make quarterbacks look ishy.

Minshew also said that he didn’t request a trade because that’s not his job.

Where is your evidence that Minshew requested a trade from the Jags?

Where is your evidence that Minshew is becoming disgruntled with the Eagles?

Yes I bet Hurts would have won more games in Jacksonville than Minshew did.  Hurts took an ish team to the playoffs in his first year as starter.  Eagles were 4-11-1 the prior season.

Wasn't denying that guys gravitate towards Hurts.  Just pointing out that Minshew has it too.

Minshew doesn't have a huge arm but he plays and understands the position of QB better than Hurts.  I don't see Minshew trying to be a class clown.  He's an individual who isn't trying to conform to what people think a QB is.  Look at the emotion shared between Minshew and his dad after the Jets game and tell me that's a class clown.  The guy loves football.  So does Hurts.

I don't see where Hurts is suddenly going to become more accurate and anything more than a 1-read QB.  He's had the best coaching from Bama to OU and now with the Eagles.

Let me also point out that I'm not saying that Minshew is the answer.  I think both Hurts and Minshew will have long high end back up careers in the NFL.  Hurts will be a great backup because he can come off the bench and use his legs to help teams whereas Minshew appears to be able to be a plug and play QB who can get you completions when needed.

It's a shame that Hurts wasn't the centerpiece of the 2021 team in the latter half of the season when they won most of their games. Really too bad that Sirianni didn't let Jalen continue the sterling play he exhibited in his first 5 games or so. He would probably have won the NFC.

Why did you post an article that was published 3 weeks before Minshew was traded from the Jaguars as some sort of evidence that he didn't request a trade? lol

https://www.jacksonville.com/story/sports/nfl/2021/08/28/jaguars-trading-gardner-minshew-eagles/5634761001/

Sources confirmed that Minshew requested a trade to have a better shot at competing for a starting job.

As for why I think Minshew might become disgruntled?  Because he wanted out of Jacksonville when it was made clear he wouldn't be starting there, he tried to ask for the starting job after the Jets game and was flatout told no so if he is heading into this season as the backup again I'd be making an educated guess that he will want to be traded somewhere else.
