It’s the best descriptor for the type of player often referenced I can think of. If you have something better, I’m all ears.

ehh u pretty much summed it up.. just joking with u.  u aren't going to change his mind or even have him consider alternatives which is perfectly fine but seems like a waste of time.

"Had the eventual Super Bowl Champions beat the 49ers in week 18, the team that already beat the Eagles, the Eagles would have finished better” is the most idiotic mental gymnastics in the history of defending Jalen Hurts

Also like to point out had cousins not gotten covid/missed the game week 17 and the Vikings win then the eagles miss the playoffs. The greatness of "had”

Yes but the valuable playoff experience Hurts got will help throughout this upcoming regular season, cause nothing says valuable like being down 31-0 going into the 4th quarter.
Don’t forget, he did find the walking boot for the postgame press conference.

Yeah I think Wilson/Booth would be mine if no trade down partner, and I don't even want a WR in the first.

In that scenario Booth then Karlaftis or reach for those others at the back of round 1/early 2nd. Got to get a DE/edge early this draft. I do go consensus Karlaftis is now the 5th best available unless you feel comfortable with Ojabo. Not sure how likely these mock draft sites project but more often than not on TDN Pickens is there at 51 and I like him and his attytude better than both Wilson and Willams plus at a discount

I think I'd rather take a chance on Ojabo though. He's got a higher ceiling and think he's a good fit in this scheme. I just don't like the limitations of Karlaftis.

Limitations and eagles first round pick go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Fact is they still made it and they made it by beating the other teams that were vying for that spot (Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Redskins).  They didn't back into the playoffs or something like that, they went on a 7-2 run to clinch a playoff birth before the final week of the season.  Had the Rams beat the 49ers week 18 then the Eagles would have been the 6th seed.

Wow! When you put it like that, I’m at a loss for words how we didn’t get any sort of trophy for beating the likes of…*checks notes*… the Saints, Panthers, Falcons and Redskins. We’re talking NFL power houses there!

Better than what he was in 2021, just like he was better last year than he was as a rookie.  Good thing for Jalen Hurts is he's far from a finished product at only 23 years old.  He just finished his first season as starter and took the team to the playoffs becoming the youngest QB in franchise history to do so.  Good thing for the Eagles is Jalen is a is a QB with all of those running tools who is extremely committed to continue to develop and advance his passing.  Reports are that he is extremely coachable.  He's not Carson Wentz.  He doesn't have the physical talent that Carson Wentz had coming into the NFL.  But unlike Wentz, Hurts is someone who is very open and welcoming to being coached.  He is someone that wants to become a better passer and is willing to put in the necessary work to do so.

It's players like those that will reach their ceiling.  I highly doubt we have seen his ceiling.  I am expecting him to make a very noticeable leap forward this season.  If he doesn't improve or he takes a step back then he probably hit his ceiling.  But I don't see that happening because the parts of his passing game that he struggled is completely reasonable for a young developing QB and can be improved upon.

I think it’s amazing that the defense managed to take us to the playoffs after we won so few games in 2020.  Maybe we don’t need to address it in round 1.

Beat the Saints with Trevor Seimian at QB too. Bonus points.

Defense wins championships.

I do like him as a late round shot. Especially if we don't nab an EDGE in round 1/2 and go with an anchoring DT early (Davis, Jones etc). Seems like he could be a Gannon fit as a DT/DE tweener. I  kinda like the pairing of him and Sanders as very different EDGE players that Gannon can play with.

Absolutely.  The point is that Hurts didn’t take us to the playoffs any more than the defense did.  The defense improved from 2020 to 2021 and took us to the playoffs…if that’s enough to not address the qb position and think Hurts has this limitless upside, then why do we need to address the defense this year?

Our defense feasted on some non legit NFL starters at QB and failed badly against any real starter. Hurts sucked for at least a half in almost all the games even against bad teams

They beat Gilbert Grape with the WFT plus Jake From State Farm and the Neck led Giants.

I dont waste my patience on people who think Jalen Hurts is a good QB. He isn't, he could become a good qb, but to date I have seen little evidence to suggest he can. He is a good rb, who can throw a football.

The reasons he is the starting qb for the Eagles :

1) Wentz regressed horribly due to mental and health issues

2) Howie wrongfully invested a 2nd rd pick on Hurts and is forcing him to start to justify his pick, and keep his value high for possible trade (see JJAW/Reagor for other guys drafted high, that start /play for the same reasons, and that clearly should not be playing ahead of other better players)

3) The QB of the future is not on this team at this time.

People who think Hurts is a great QB, or will become a great QB, lack the ability to be objective. When you bring up the facts about how he cannot read post snap, which causes him to do circles and or bail from clean pockets, rather than go through his progressions, and throw the ball to wide open recievers, these people deny that happens. They deny that the Tama DB coach was caught on video saying "keep doing it, this guy cant read"!

They overlook that when he does read a progression right that he is late to throw the ball, and makes the WR's stop, hesitate and wait for the football. They only see the very rare times he gets a ball out on time and delivers a strike - those 1-2 throws a gameThey also LOVE that he is a running qb first- they love the highlight reel athletic runs. They also dont see that we only won games against really crappy teams by taking the ball away from Hurts and forcing the run, something we could do due to our oline.

Yes it would be the best thing in the world if Hurts would have turned out into a great QB prospect- but unless he takes the largest leap ever made by a QB - it aint happening.

This kind of hot take is only going to cause more dissapointment in the end for fans of Hurts. It's completely unrealistic.

For as much as this team underachieved, I really liked the players they had.  Loved Max Talbot.  Wish Schenn would have wiped the ice with Crosby.

Was that the season finale?  That season, the last game with Pitt spilled over into the playoff series as some of the most disgusting and unsportsmanlike hockey I've ever seen.  The Penguins should have fired everyone for that.

Speaking of great running QB, saw on NFL Network last night about Vick when he was with the Falcons.  Vick might run more than he should, but he was really a great RB and could throw the football well either in the pocket or in the runs.  Don't think Hurts could ever reach that level though.

What you have with Hurts is a guy who was ALWAYS surrounded with elite talent and coaching in college and NOW has none of that to lean on.  He doesn't possess the individual tools or the talent around him to cover up his issues.  A low ceiling QB is an awful place to be.  He reminds me of Johnny Manziel with a better attitude.

This kid might be alright, maybe he doesn’t fit the mold of a Lincoln Riley mental midget QB.

Vick was a special player. Gonna be awhile before we see someone with his combo of elite speed and arm strength.
