This is kind of how I feel about Jordan Davis. He'll never match the combine hype. Georgia took him off the field for passing downs. He only played about 25 snaps/game because he was out of shape.

I think Jordan Davis is a different beast, when he was on the field he was an unmovable  force, and I think he can offer some pass rush or at least collapse the pocket.

I think he can play more than Georgia played him as well as long as he can manage his weight

His coaches have said he's a hard worker never heard any one call him lazy and at the combine he had slimmed down , if he can maintain the weight he had at combine I think he can be a 3 down guy or at least more than 25 snaps a game.

Because that defense was only on the field for 25 snaps per game

I’m not a Davis fan , huge bust potential , huge . I would take Winfrey early 2nd instead , Jones too .

love Eric Johnson enough to use mid round pick on him .

I heard the other day there isn't a lot of difference between Davis and Winfrey.

Aside from like 50 pounds?

Unless Mathieu is signed pre-draft then you are virtually locked into taking a CB & S with 2 of your first 3 picks and 51 is iffy to get a guaranteed penciled in starter. Of course who knows what Howie will do?

Davis averaged 27 snaps per game , virtually zero impact as pass rusher , he is a run stuffer who will play part time and has the potential to get out of shape , I have to pass

for the Corral Cronies

Seem like pretty different players IMO.

At the 2:07 mark he misses his hands clapping. Pass.

Corral is only QB I would draft early this year , otherwise pass until next  , shaping up to be a very good class .

He was only on the field for 38% of Georgia's defensive snaps.

Kenny Pickett has an excuse there, not so sure about Corral.

Anyone who did not see last nights game, you missed a great one by Maxey.

Seems like 25-35 seems like the sweet spot for those top end S/second-tier-but-still-starter-level CBs based on most of the mocks I have seen.  A trade down would be great but not sure how much demand there will be this year.

That being said in real life I feel as if Safeties tend to fall lower than expected than where they get mocked. There are a few mid-late round targets I like (McKinley, Woods, Taylor-Britt if they see him as a future safety) but I would be pretty disappointed if we walk away without 1 of Hamilton (pipe dream), Hill, Cine, Brisker or Pitre.

Bryan Cook falls somewhere in between.  He's above those later round flyers but also would be kinda meh as our only safety target.

That’s a good point that rarely gets taken into consideration, sack numbers, snap counts, tackles, etc.. That defense was historically good so they weren’t on the field a ton compared to other teams.

Not sure I buy that.  Blow out against Tennessee... 89 snaps.  And then you look at the percentage of Davis' snaps compared to the other top talents at UGA.

For the season...

Side note it's very annoying how Glen Macnow and Ray Didinger have such a bais against the Sixers. They hated the process and have held it against the Sixers since.  They can't stand how wrong they were about it.

What would worry me about drafting Georgia defenders is the "Miami" effect - the draft class that landed us McDougle saw the Miami D-line get drafted high, but only Wilfork had much of a NFL career. The two problems is being rested and getting lots of one on one matchups against college OL.

A guy coming from a lesser school will play more snaps (info on conditioning, motor) and face more double teams (if you can beat college double teams you're showing more than beating a college OL one on one unless he's a top prospect).

Same way LBs from a loaded defense don't have to beat blocks on a regular basis.

Why not both?

Take Davis in the 1st Winfrey in the 2nd won't have to worry about DT for the next 5 years.

True except there was also the Miami effect of lots of Miami players being really good

I mean the same could be said for Alabama players, every year they are stacked in college and every year lots of Alabama players are drafted and plenty are good.

Just pick the right ones.

Georgia has a lot of talented players on both sides of the ball, try and pick the ones that best fit what one asks them to do.

Except that Alabama has been pumping talent from their stacked Saban teams for years now that are successful in the NFL.

So Wyatt played 42% of the snaps vs 38% for Davis to the tune of roughly 3 less passing downs per game. I feel like this is being blown way out of proportion. If it was something like 50+% vs 38% I could see it being more of a worry.

Edit: For reference, he played 54% in the championship game which is what should be of more note.

Looks more like they used a rotation to keep their D-Line and LB’ers fresh throughout the season.
