Agree to disagree.. he is a good player. What team can reasonably afford a 25 million dollar WR with 30 million dollar QB…

But that’s the going rate for receivers now. The market has changed. What are you going to do, never pay good WRs ever again?

Exactly what should be done, keep drafting and shuffling them. Bonus is paying them in shekels.

A wise team will count on WRs with rookie contracts which appears to be the thinking for teams in the draft. Unless the cap drastically changes.

Insanity. That’s not how you build a team.

Just really watched Kyle Philips for the first time. I would be amazed if he's not a starting slot WR year 1 putting up numbers immediately. Getting in the 3rd is robbery

Solid yeah. And a lot of bodies ahead to push him down.

Chiefs and Packers are well run organizations.  So far the smart organizations have let the $25-30M WR contracts walk.  Given the choice, I’d turn over the WR talent every 5 years.  The draft classes are deep at the position.

You have to be able to actually evaluate WR talent to do that. Eagles would be stuck in a hard place if they took this approach considering the picks it took to get one good WR.

They haven’t had a bonafide league WR1 since Owens, so I don’t have any confidence they could do it.  They haven’t developed a WR1 through the draft since Maclin.

If I was an exec or part of the cap management group for a team, I’d have a pie-chart diagram of how much each position group would account for in the overall cap structure.  You’d then have to figure out what % of the overall cap each position group can account for.

1.  QB. 2.  DL (to pressure and sack QB).  3.  OL (to protect QB)

Then there would be a debate over whether more money should go to the WR group, or the DB group.  Making a WR the 2nd highest paid player on the team seems nutty.

My mind says that the Eagles aren't in a position to give up a ton of draft capital to get a receiver they then have to pay $27 million a year.

My heart says I would trade 7 firsts, our entire OL, Gritty, the Liberty Bell and my infant first son for Deebo.

I love Deebo...

Dude is the f’ing man.  If we had a QB would give up a ton to get him.

Tried something different. Traded 15, 101 and 2023 3rd for 13 and 2023 5th when Hamilton fell.

Blob stinks. I'd trade Blob for a gas station tuna melt.

Well, of course, Canadians apologize reflexively, so there shouldn't be a presumption of guilt.

Damn.  All this time I thought my wife was a Texan raised by a misogynist father and overbearing mother with her tendency to apologize all the time. Turns out she is a Canadien.

I wouldn’t be thrilled about giving up substantial assets for and paying a WR that much money without a QB. Would be a waste to trade for Deebo IMO.

With the help of Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap, I’ve listed the top five average salaries in the NFL at five-year intervals—2012, 2017, 2022. What’s obvious is how the quarterbacks have taken advantage of the rising tide of average salaries. In the span of 10 years, the highest average quarterback salary has risen 152 percent, from Drew Brees’ $20-million average compensation in 2012 to Aaron Rodgers’ $50.3 million this year.

Just think: If the average QB salary goes up 152 percent between now and 2032, the highest-paid QB in 2032 (Joe Burrow? Justin Herbert? Bryce Young? Arch Manning?) will have a contract averaging $126.8 million.

Sheesh. Only a matter of time before we get to $100m AAV.

Because they won a Super Bowl the last time they did a rebuild.  Because it's the NFL and teams can turn into contenders relatively quickly.  Because they have some good foundational pieces on offense and now they have a defense loaded draft with multiple 1st round picks and three picks on day two of the draft.  It's the perfect situation to be in when needing to rebuild the defense to go along with the young offense.

If teams can turn into competitors quickly, then why are we supposed to wait years upon years as we watch Hurts suck for him to develop?

Well i can answer this. Because he is one of the foundational pieces sir. Stop asking questions you don't really want the answer to.

I had a dream we traded JJAW to the Titans for a 6th rounder 😞

And AJ Brown?

Because teams can also remain bottom dwellers for literal decades... right Detroit?

AJ Brown is the only elite WR that's available worth trading for given that he can play with any style of QB. Deebo is awesome, but unique. DK still has the neck concerns that pushed him down the draft.

There will now be WRs looking to get paid every off season. We can review the market next year too.
