In that example?  Yes, it's very big.  Hamilton has the potential to be in the top 1-2 safeties in the NFL; the other guys will likely be pretty good.  No way I'd trade back even one spot if Hamilton were on the board.

As a general rule, though -- Weidl will have to tell me who I'm looking at with picks in the 28-32 range.  I'm sure the Eagles will run these mocks to death before draft night.  If they are really high on a couple of prospects in that range, then a trade back becomes much easier.

It's not about Weidl though... at the end of the day, it comes down to Howie and whomever he allows to bend his ear at the last moment.  I honestly can't for the life of me understand how they hadn't already figured out that Jefferson was the guy to grab over Reagor... and that last minute decision to go with Doug over the scouts for Reagor should have never been an option.  BUT... they allowed themselves to be so focused on 'roles', they lost sight of 'talent' and drive.  Jefferson is a driven player to improve.  He always has been and has an unselfish streak in him - moving to the slot to make room for Chase on the outside was likely not an easy choice for him to make if he was thinking about his draft stock.  But it worked out great for LSU... got them a NC, got the whole roster noticed, made Burrow the obvious #1 overall choice and landed him in the first round.  Reagor?  He'd still be pouting about it.

If the opportunity presented itself...would you trade down twice? Let's say GB offers a package including their first this year for pick 15, and then KC offers a package including one of their firsts this year for 18. Obviously there would be more to each trade than just the lower firsts....but would you do both?

I hope the Eagles do, because I don't know that they can find the right guy at 15 or 18 anyway.  Might as well get more shots at it.  AND... if they can get another future 1 for that trade down for each... even 50 and 29 for 18 would be good enough for me.  That would be KC overpaying a bit.  More likely they'd offer 29 and 62.

I don't think there will be a clear cut 'right' choice on the board at either 15 or 18 to make taking that player an obvious choice.  Even when that was obvious they missed!

Today is the last day for pre-draft visits. Kinda surprised only roughly half the Eagles visits were leaked

4xDE, DT, 3xOT, 2xCB, FS, 2xWR, ?xQB

So, we either trade up (ouch), hope for 3 QBs to go off the board (wishful thinking), grab a WR as a likely BPA or tradeback. I’d lean towards trading up at 15 and trading back at 18 - fingers crossed.

Listening to the local Seahawks stuff on my way to work every morning, the pick at 9 will be Derek Stingley or a DE.

Keeping all the QB visits quite so SWAG does not get his little feelers hurt.

Yeah, Sauce and Stingley are in the top cohort for me. At 9 I’d take Sauce or JJ.

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! what's up with the bracket ??  I am looking forward to hoisting the first championship trophy.

Kincade says a 5th rounder for Ridley. (per his ATL connections)

Mind you gave up on his team, like Wentz, and then did the whole gamble thing.

I would give up a 5th for Ridley. Likely only gone for this year, and hopefully we'd have a real QB next year to utilize him. I'd prob even give a 4th, but no higher I don't think.

AJ Brown is the only elite WR that's available worth trading for given that he can play with any style of QB. Deebo is awesome, but unique. DK still has the neck concerns that pushed him down the draft.

There will now be WRs looking to get paid every off season. We can review the market next year too.

Deebo is no doubt better than AJ Brown and AJ Brown is very good.

Samuel is the best player I've ever seen at catching the ball in stride, he never has to make an adjustment that causes him to decelerate and lose momentum. Best yac player in the entire league, amazing route runner, great hands, fast, quick, contact balance is Kamara good... He's a hall of fame player if he stays healthy

I agree with this. In fact I'd spend more knowing he's not going to be here for the last year of the Hurts project.

Honestly, Ridley is a perfect situation for the Eagles. not around for the trash this year and ready to roll next

The dice at the casino?

Thoughts on Dane Belton?

6 foot 1 205 ... 4.43 40 36.5 vert 123 broad   7.01 3 cone (not great) and 4.24 shuttle

With all the WR discussion, contracts etc, looking at some numbers and contracts, there is no way Lowie is going to be happy with a running QB in a passing league.

Devonta Smith, our#1 WR was 36th in the league in targets, that is comparable to the Bengals #3 WR Tyler Boyd.  Goedert, 2nd in targets at 69, Quez was 3rd with 98 targets.

With these contract blowing up and no end in site, how would they justify paying top dollar to Devonta Smith when he is not in the top 32 in targets.  14 WR's already have a cap number of more than 20 million for the 2023 season, Deebo and AJ Brown will soon join that club, and then Devonta, Chase, Waddle, Jeudy and a slew of others will be on deck for new contracts for the 2024 season.

If anyone thinks that the Eagles are going to continue to run a ball control running offense to hide the deficiencies of their QB, they are kidding themselves.  This is a passing league, you win in the playoffs with your QB passing the ball.  Whether it is this year or next, the Eagles will upgrade the QB position, and I would prefer this year instead of staying in limbo.

Happy 4/20 today to the Blog. A glorious day!

It makes enough sense to wait for next years draft. Thatbopens the three year cheap qb contract window right as hurts can be let go

There's a good reason Sproles went in Round 4 back in his draft.  Guys that small are long shots, and Sproles was stoutly built, not frail.  5'6" but nearly 200 lbs.  Meanwhile, Pumphrey was a good 2 inches taller, but nearly 20 lbs lighter.  Just frail, slow and didn't have the moves.

Good argument, and actually a reality for Boston Scott. 5’ 6” and 203. Kid has good balance.  I think the rotating Gs hurt the Eagles at inside running the last couple of years. Impacted Sanders and Scott.

Im in Portland, OR and I'm going to see Dave Chappelle tonight.  Of course he would pick Portland for a 4/20 show, lol.

While I agree that Scott is closer to Sproles than Pumphrey was... he's still not a guy I want to depend on as a RB2.

That sucks. Not like you get much out of it but this is basically the only time the team lets Weidl speak to the media. Sirianni isn't going to give anything besides one or two weird funny quotes.

Do they always bring in all 30? I remember an article of the Saints, or  Patriots that only brought in like 12 guys one year.

I cant think of a single reason not to. I'd guess there is some mid round guys they brought in that don't have a lot of buzz.

Agreed.  Eagles need to learn about the guys they could take at 124, 154, 162, 166 and 237.

Of course a stoned out hippee would wait this long to post this.  Just wake up?

I'm an early riser my friend. Up by 7 am every day, and when I don't have work I'm smoking up as I take the dog out for the morning walk. We have a great walk-up coffee place nearby too, it's a nice way to start a day off!

I'm working today, and incidentally, likely giving my two week notice for the company I've been with for 15 years. Feels kinda weird, but looking forward to a new job and 4:20 this afternoon!

Early riser ??  I am generally awake before 6 every day, including weekends without an alarm.  Anything past 6 is a bonus, and 7am is unchartered territory.

I have no kids. 7 am is early according to most that don't have 'em.

My youngest is grown up and moved out, just me and the wife at home.  Last Sunday I was up at quarter to 4.
