What game?

This is a great question.  Hurts sucked donkey balls in multiple games last season, including the playoff game, so we would need to narrow this down.

It's hard to say with DeVonta. He had a good year, but for a top 10 pick, I think it was slightly underwhelming. But can't really judge him due to offense/QB.

He ranked 33rd in targets and still almost had a 1,000 yard season. I don't really know what else he could have done given that. This isn't a wide receiver driven offense, which is probably why they won't make a Samuel trade and break the bank for him.

I’d blame it on the QB. A better passer at QB & Devonta would of had a much better season, even though his rookie season still was good. Didn’t he almost hit 1k receiving yards? He was open a lot, I felt like teams started to really pay attention to him also. I’m not worried about Devonta, think he’s a good building block for the offense

916 yards, 5 TD's but took 17 games.

My issue is you have to go back to 2017 the last time a WR was drafted in the top 10, and there's been a lot of guys in the span that were taken at various spots that had just as if not more impactful seasons. For being a top 10 pick, I want to see more out of him. I'm sure with more targets and a better QB he would have been a lot better.

Isn't that part of the point of a message board ??

yes, you should try it instead of continually bullying RTK (not defending him necessarily) because you get some kind of gratification proving what a goofball he is (one could call it bullying) or continually reinforcing that Hurts sucks. That's not debate and discussion, it's a self-righteous and self-gratifying repetition of opinion. I have a discussion topic for you. Why is it important to continually tear another person down (RTK) or repeat a known negative situation as if everyone isn't aware of it (Hurts suck)? Both of these issues, RTK shouldn't really be taken all that seriously and Hurts is limited in many dimensions of his play, are well established.

Del taco it is lol

He's better off as a #2 WR.  Not downplaying how good he is but with a guy like DK (not saying they should trade for him, just an example) Smith would be that much better as WR2.  Like you said, a lot of the production for a top 10 pick was 100% effected by the QB/offense.

Hypothetical...would you trade DeVonta for Deebo straight up?

For the Eagles, no. If I was a contender, yes.

My bad and I've never been a big fan. Only have it when someone else pays, my choice of garbage is pizza and wings.

Never heard of that.  How about homemade smoked beer can chicken tacos this past friday brah

You want to send me some in the mail? I figured cause we all are putting our addresses out on the blog now lol.

If this offense is going to continue to build on what we saw last season and remain run-oriented, then it makes more sense to go after a guy like McCaffrey instead of Samuel. I'm aware of the injury issues but depending on the comp I'd rather them make that move than Deebo. If Sanders is included in the trade, then this offense with CMC, Gainwell, Goedert, DeVonta, and another receiver is pretty good.

Would be better off just drafting a running back.

With CMC you'd have a fist-fight in the backfield the first time Hurts kept the ball on an RPO.

Sure, and that's my point. People are saying the 2021 draft was amazing. But Howie spent a top 10 pick on a guy who just broke 900 yards, on an offense everyone knew would have a lacking passing attack. If they get a new QB in who can pass or Hurts somehow does a 180 (not in the pocket) and Smith can live more up to the potential, then it's a great pick. If he just flirts with 1,000 yards every year because this team commits to mediocre QB's and have a run heavy offense his entire rookie contract, the pick isn't that great.

Or the fact it was his rookie year, which has little indication of the player he’ll become

If the 2021 offense is our long-term plan, then the whole organization has failed. Based on the limitations of the offense, I'd say Devonta was a massive positive.

There is no one close to McCaffrey in this draft. When he's on the field, he's the most multi-dimensional back in the league and a top 2-3 RB. If Carolina is looking for a haul for him, then it's a pass. But I can't imagine it being much different than what SF would be looking at for Deebo. I'm not banging the table for it, but if it came down to Deebo or CMC, CMC would be better for this offense.

I think you're seeking out pessimism if you're complaining about the Eagles 2021 draft.

I'm just saying I think he was a fine pick. It's premature to call the resources used on him amazing. If he tops out as a high end #2, I'd say that's not great to use a top 10 pick on. We'll see.

Not a single person is complaining. Don't fall into that Blog trope

Some of you are so oblivious to how ridiculous you all sound sometimes.  Eagles spent a first round pick on a WR that broke the franchise record for rookie receiving yards.  Hey guys the pick really isn't that good.  As the blog decrees players hit their ceiling their rookie year.

You're an idiot so it's no wonder you completely missed the point.

See how many more strawmen you can throw in there. You only have 3, you're usually better than that.

Lol, tell us more how bad the 2021 draft was.  Welcome to the blog where the sky is always falling and the Eagles have the worst team in the league.  Young players are finished products coming out of college and improvement from year to year is not possible.

Go find where I said it was bad or he's a finished product, you f'ing moron.

You are worse than Jalen Hurts at reading.

The Eagles rookie receiving record is now 916 yards in 17 games.

Look at this list, his rookie season does not even compare.  25 rookies have had a 1,000 yard season.

I mean, Mike Ditka had 1,076 yards in 14 games in 1961.  You wanna set a record, make it impressive.

Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson sure looked like finished products coming out of college.
