There is nothing wrong with the QB running when warranted, but if that is his primary skill, that is not going to win you a title.  QB's need to be top 10 passers to win in the NFL.

Exactly. Have you guys ever watched a playoff game? Passing QBs win big games.

The QB makes about 4x the amount of the RB.  The RB is much easier to find as well.  Why risk your QB by having him run as a regular part of the offense?   Makes no sense.

In Jalen Hurts defense, he is only worth about this much a year as a passer.

Yes, I'm not discussing Hurts in his current contract situation regarding the money side.  But, he's not going to be on a rookie deal for long, and he's not going to give the team a running QB discount and sign for only $15M... he's going to want the big money.

If I've learned one thing about the blog, is that they don't like any non running-back getting carries.

Now if the next thing you learn is that it’s a question of degree then you’re getting somewhere.

Hurts ratio of running to passing in the NFL is 34.8%.  His last season at OU it was about twice that.  Anything over 20% ratio doesn’t work in the NFL — and Hurts isn’t going to change that ratio.  His ankle will be all healed up by Week 1 and he will default to scampering around again.

He wants the scripted play to break down so he can operate a sandlot offense.  It’s who he is.

He’s not the only one.   80% FT big man should be on the blocks in last seconds of a tie game.

Except the refs were trying to steal that game.

So a new rookie QB every 4 or 5 years. Once a QB wants a big $$ extension - and doesn't have well above average passing skills - cut him and draft his replacement.

We are a quarterback factory.

Completely false. But thanks for the strawman

Yes.

Worst thing a team can do is hitch their wagon to an overpaid, underperforming QB that limits their offense from ever excelling.   You think the Vikings are happy with what they have with Cousins?  Was that a good move for them?

Finding the right QB is hard.  And if you have the chance to get one, you have to take it.  BUT, you can't be limited by having already locked yourself in to the wrong one.

I don’t think I could’ve stated it anymore perfectly than this

The low salary is helping Howie dig us out of salary cap hell.

I am no capologist.

I don't know how many cap hits remain in our near future.

But I think the cut and resign maneuver with Cox was aimed at unscrewing the cap.

This morning I got flipped off by a driver who was passing me going the opposite direction presumably because she thought I got over too late after passing the guy in my lane.

I didn’t track her down and punch her in the face.

The cut was aimed at unscrewing the cap.  Bringing Cox back was unnecessary and actually undid some of the unscrewing of the cap issue.

Ha, this is where I thought we were going with Chip and the RO. 2nd-3rd round disposable rQBs surrounded by a great team (due to the salary implications). The league caught up to the RO, and good passing QBs are still way ahead of most defenses. Live and learn.

Randall was the master of sand lot football, though he also had a cannon for an arm, even then didnt amount to any championships still doesn't.

It always amazes me that in a country of over 300,000,000 people we can't find 32 competent NFL quarterbacks.

Passing QBs aren't being trained up as much at the lower levels... and NFL teams don't take the time to develop their young QBs.  They settle for the short term gain of a running QB, rather than look at the long term affects a passing QB can make.

Technically I have charge bias.  Chargism requires that I would have some power to discriminate against uncharged phones.
