The Eagles aren't nearly as bad at drafting as a lot of fans and media make them out to be. First of all, the draft is a major crap shoot and most teams are just ok or bad at it. The other thing is, their big misses get talk about obsessively but the great picks they have made either get swept under the rug or chalked up to luck. For example, passing on Jefferson for Reagor and Metcalf for JJAW were horrible decisions/picks. However, people talk way more about that than the fact they drafted a likely pro-bowl LT in the 7th round. How about a future HOF center in the 6th round. Everyone hated the Dickerson pick last year and he looks like he will be a pro-bowl level IOL for the next decade. Howie is also a master at draft pick trades to maximize value. Look at last year, he turned their original pick into Devonta Smith, and a first round pick this year for a 3rd last year with the two trades.

When you compare them to the rest of the league the Eagles are a slightly above average drafting team, not bad or horrible like some people would want you to believe. Last year it looks like they absolutely nailed their first three picks and Gainwell looks promising as well but all we keep hearing is how Howie will screw up this year. So passe.

The Giants trying to get rid of Toney that fast doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless they view him as a malcontent in the locker room. He was hurt a lot and looked ok and they probably couldn't get more than a 4th/5th.

It's like the hot crazy matrix.  Toney's talent just isn't high enough to deal with his level of attitude.  Toney is in the danger zone.  

 

 

Supposed to be a good season for morel hunting. I was out in the woods for an hour or so and this was all I could find.

Indeed, we usually find quite a few morels around our family's cabin in the NC mountains and surrounding forests. One year they grew literally right next to cabin in some mulch. Love cooking with them. They have such a complex flavor profile.

Washington has been a good drafting team for a while. But they hire bad coaches (because good HC don't want to work there), struggle to attract elite FA (Because good players don't want to be there) and struggle to resign their best players (because good players don't want to stay there).

 

 

If a player has his own face tattooed to his body, he’s got some issues. Plus rapping about "Codeine Dreamin’” on the buildup before his draft is probably a bit of a red flag.

FWIW, I think the Redskins draft really well.  They just haven't been able to get a great QB.  Part of their drafting is they are almost always drafting early in the rounds.

If Wentz can play like he did last year, which wasn't great but not terrible, they could walk away with the NFCE.

Found 6 Saturday, all a little smaller than a baseball…

 

It just started warming up late in the week so I'm gonna probably try out around my parents'. They have a lot more land than me and my Dad usually has a pretty good sense for the best times and locations to hunt.

Used to be. I buy the dried morels now. In risottos they are sublime.

We had frost earlier this week, rain on Wednesday and mid 80s today… hoping to find some more this weekend…
