Did we forget about Carson Wentz that quickly?

I thought that trade was all about securing assets to potentially get a QB this offseason. The plan was to give Hurts 2021 and have the three 1st's in the offseason to go big fish hunting or draft someone. We ended up striking out on Wilson & Watson and the 2022 QB class isnt good according to scouts & analysts. I dont know if they make the Dolphins trade if we draft Jefferson/Chinn in 2020 and stick with Wentz. It's all moot at this point.

Still... you take that trade 100 times out of a 100.

that would be awesome.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw Tony's tweet.

some stuff from jetrolot.com

The million dollar question. What do I think the Eagles will do? One thing I can guarantee you is that we’re going to see at least one EDGE, and maybe two. I have heard that Howie Roseman and the coaching staff have really been on the warpath when it comes to pass rushers, and they’re not just looking at 1st round guys.

What does intrigue me is the type of players the Eagles are looking at. When I’m told that they are all about Nik Bonitto and at the same time, George Karlaftis, I have questions. One is a heavy-handed guy that borders between five-tech and EDGE. The other, a Jack of All Trades that I think of almost exclusively as a 3-4 OB, or at the very least, hybrid front guy.

That excites me, but it just makes what they’ll do harder to pin down. Maybe that’s the point.

In the second round, I’ve heard the Eagles like Nakobe Dean. How real is that? I don’t know. This is something I’ve been told by several different sources that don’t know each other, so for it to be this rampant makes me think it’s a bit of bull. He would be an outstanding fit at MIKE if they chose him.

This is what Matt had to say about Jurgens in his writing yesterday

If the Eagles are going to draft interior line, I really like Cam Jurgens. That said, he’s a pure center and I think you’d have to take him at 51 or trade up from 83.

Bit of a reach on my part but not too much. I shouldn't assume u felt that way after all the defending you've done. My bad.  Not being sarcastic 👍👍

I don't think Jalen Hurts has hit his ceiling yet.  The areas of his game where he has room for improvement are areas of his game that he can improve heading into year 3.  I'm excited to see what he can do.  Either he does take a nice leap forward and the Eagles will have a QB on a cheap rookie deal for at least one more year going forward after next and they can use their draft resources on improving other areas of the team next year or he doesn't improve and stays stagnant or gets worse and the Eagles will be in a good position to move on.  So many people here are terribly scared of Jalen getting the chance to show he can make a substantial improvement this season so they are so hostile to the idea that Jalen Hurts play this year.

Guys I do not want, even if they play for free – Ed Ingram, Peyton Hendershot, Sam Williams. I’d also really rather the Eagles stay away from Rasheed Walker and Derion Kendrick, but if they were to take one of those guys, I’d feel completely different than the first three.

I have heard about character issues for Ed Ingram, dont know what they are. Sam Williams as well- I think that may have been domestic, or sexual assault. Either way, potentially really bad but I dont know the story. I do know thats why this productive guy with freak workout isnt being talked about in round 1. Not sure anything about Hendershot, or Walker. I assume Kendrick is just because of the workout.

Hint

Jordan Davis is my top target. Honestly after that, I’m not in love with prospects until we get later in the draft. Karlaftis is a nice player – and something in me tells me they’ll draft him – but he doesn’t **** away.

Oh yeah. We're so afraid he might be good! How AWFUL that would be. Us winning and having a franchise QB at 23/24? I think we'd all kill ourselves

I’ll tell you something to watch out for. What if they take Nik Bonitto in the 2nd round and double up on pass rushers? I think it’s too high for him, but man, I’ve heard some things about Howie digging him.

Reading jetrolot, it begins to sound like this could potentially be our first 4 picks.

Jordan Davis

Karalaftis

Dean (or Bonitto)

trade up from 83 for Jurgens.

Im wondering if we could be moving to a more full time 3-4 considering we are looking at a big NT like Davis or Jones, and are still interested in Bonitto after signing Reddick.

I would be quite unhappy, especially if we go WR in the 1st. There should be a plethora of solid defensive players at 51.

I’m totally out on Dean

Word is that it will be more like a 5-2 look.

Which would make sense with the addition of Reddick as the 5th rusher which has typically been his role so far.

Funny when I coached 9th graders we ran a 52 little and the opposing coach would always yell out 34 defense.

They look alot a like so we'll either way I think both are more effective with a big NT.

Though hargrave who isnt the biggest played NT in Steelers 34.

Interestingly Cox had his most sacks in a season in a 34 under Davis playing RE.

Seems Gannon employs Cox more as a 2 gapper though than a 1 gapper at least last season he did.

Be interesting to see if that changes this year🤷‍♂️

I have a feeling if Davis is there around 10-13 range they are going to try and trade up for him.

I’m literally shaking at the thought of Hurts being good and having my friends and family who have no idea of what my EMB screen name is look down upon me with shame.

Me too, I think he maxed out as a college player and looked alot better having Davis, Wyatt and Walker in front of him eating up blockers.

Not sure he can shed and tackle In the pros nor do I think he offers much in coverage In the pros.

Yup. Not thrilled with his measurables and the guys up front made his life a lot easier, IMO. Later day 2 should have some good LB options.

We match "base" personnel with a pretty typical 3-4.

If Corral and Pickett are on the board at pick #18 what are the odds the Eagles draft one of them?

Probably high, I like corral, don't like baby hands Pickett.

Having said that both in the 1st scare me.

2nd round? Would be a horrible pick. Wouldn't put it past this team though.
