Can someone sell me on McDuffie? I see a lot of love for him and I'm just not seeing it. I don't think he'll be garbage, just underwhelming.

I'm leaning more into wanting to either double dip defense in the first or use one to trade down. I'd be upset if we drafted a WR. It's not because I think it'd be a waste with Hurts but just that the defense really needs some studs

I understand the want to double dip on defense.  I love a nasty defense and they lack impact players across the board on defense.  I'd love to come away with a stud pass rusher and a legit CB to go with Slay and then be CB1 down the road.

I just think the way the league is trending the Eagles need as many playmakers on offense as possible.  If you aren't scoring points, you aren't winning when it matters in the NFL.  Yes, Hurts is going to hold back whoever they draft at first but the hope is QB is fixed sooner than later.  Not saying they can't find a WR later in the draft but I have even less faith in Howie finding a WR later in the draft.

They can address both sides of the ball if the board falls that way.  Nice part of having 2 picks in the first.

I like McDuffie, but as a 2nd round target.  Booth is much better.  His teammate Gordon might be just as good.

Here's the players I believe will be off the board before #15 where the Eagles are slotted to pick:

QB -- Pickett, Willis

OL -- Neal, Ekwonwu, Cross

DE -- Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, Johnson, Walker

DT -- Davis

WR -- Williams, London

CB -- Gardner, Stingley

S -- Hamilton

That would leave the Eagles with a choice of Karlaftis, Lloyd, Green, Corral, Booth, Olave, Wilson, Burks, Wyatt in the 15-18 range

Tbh i think the eagles are likely to move up from 15 to get a guy they really want. And move back from 18 to replenish. I think trade up candidates could be Williams, Davis, KT (if he falls within range) or one of the two corners fall.

My small-ish hot-take of the evening: if Howie doesn't trade up to draft a player in round 1, he didn't really want that player and the board broke poorly for him.

He consistently trades up a few spots when the guy he wants is still on the board and will not wait until his pick.

First thing we have to do with McDuffie is clear all memories of Sydney Jones.  Second thing we need to do is hope he isn't the pick at 15 or 18.

At this point I give less than two craps about any mock drafts. Sick of them, I am. No disrespect to any of you.

Last one promise

I don't understand some of the infatuation with drafting a center early to replace Kelce.  We aren't replacing Kelce.  He's one of a kind.  We also have multiple players on the roster (Seumalo, Dickerson, Driscoll) that are more than capable of playing the position.  I have no interest in moving Dickerson out of the LG position, but I'd much rather plug and play one of these guys than waste valuable draft resources on a center.

I hate London and McDuffie. The rest is underwhelming, particularly with two OL back to back.

No thanks.

London and McDuffie have their fans. Jurgens and Cook are very good value where selected. Agreed on Ingram. The Iowa St. TE has been mocked here forever.

We absolutely need interior line at some point.

Not in the first few rounds, though.

I think there’s a better chance the eagles trade up for Jameson Williams than Hamilton.

Because it’s the center of attention….

That's definitely my point.  I know we need it, but if we waste a 1st or 2nd on a center, I'm gonna smash my TV.  Day 3?  Go nuts.  I have full faith in Stoutland to develop some late talent.

London, McDuffie and Jurgens with our first three picks.

I don't know that I'd ever watch the draft again 😂

You should care that 15 is awfully high for a WR coming off an ACL.

I get teams get obsessed with speed and it's a passing league and Williams has the potential to be a game breaking WR but 3 WRs in the First round 3 years in a row seem a bit excessive.

If pick 15 comes and he's there and he's the highest rated player in their board then follow your board and make the pick and maybe he's the next randy moss and Howie looks like a genius.

We'll see, eagles don't have the best record with taking Injured players which would give me pause as well

I'll say this if he weren't hurt he'd be long gone by pick 15 so yeah maybe he's good value at 15 but is he worth the risk???

Guess we'll find out, hurts being QB clouds my judgement.🤷‍♂️

Since WR is now the 2nd most expensive position in the league, and teams need 3 of them, I have come around to the thought of drafting one in the 1st for the 3rd year in a row (especially since they flopped with Reagor).  Williams has the most upside, and he's not a 1 trick pony.  His ACL tear was clean.  He'll be back 100%.  I'd take him at 18 and possibly 15.  You gotta have 2nd level thinking and forget about Hurts.  If they were drafting for Hurts, they'd draft a RB and elite OL in the 1st, then run a 70/30 run pass ratio since he can't throw.  This pick would be to have 2 stud WRs for 3-4 more years on rookie contracts with the future at QB anticipated next season.

Excellent zone corner. Can tackle well. Apparently he’s highly intelligent and good at diagnosing route concepts.

I wouldn’t love the pick, but I assume Gannon wants more zone coverage with two high safeties, and that means having smart corners who can pattern match.

His arm length though… that’s a problem.

That would be a excellent draft.  How realistic is that though? Serious question for the people who know more than me.

Personally, I wouldn't say it'll happen, but it's not totally outrageous. I doubt they take a safety in the first or wait that long to take OL. LB in the second after picking of Reddick and White is probably not happening.

Supposedly he's a real team leader.  Like another coach on the field in terms of his understanding of the game.

I take McCreary over McDuffie  , Gordon  too  . McCreary is so smooth and smothers you  …. steal in rd 2

Imagine the first 14 picks are mostly defensive players.  Pick 15 comes and All the WR are still there and the Eagles take 1. Then 16 and 17 go defense.... Would the eagles dare go back to back WR at 15 and 18? Walk away with 2 of Wilson, Olave,Williams,Burks, etc.....

Davis played 38% of the defensive snaps last season, Wyatt played 42%.  Why so low?  It's college, they blow teams out - they have huge rosters, etc.

In the national championship Davis played 54% of the defensive snaps, Wyatt played 55%... that's higher than 20% and much closer to the 60%+ you'd want at the pro-level.

Davis' assignment was to 2-gap, eat double teams and let the UGA LBs amass stats; strength as defined by Cossell is very important in that role.  The combine data shows that Davis does have power, but Kirby Smart wasn't designing game plans where Davis 1-gaps as 3T so it's not exactly on display every play.  Will he have the discipline to keep his weight down, will he develop better technique and a broader skillset for the pro game... we don't have that information.

Good info here, thanks.

I think a lot of it depends on whether or not Gannon thinks Davis can fit what Gannon wants to do

I'm not versed enough in the intricacies of Gannon's Defensive scheme to make enough of an educated opinion on that but from what I've heard people think Davis would fit in Gannon's scheme?
