Imagine the first 14 picks are mostly defensive players.  Pick 15 comes and All the WR are still there and the Eagles take 1. Then 16 and 17 go defense.... Would the eagles dare go back to back WR at 15 and 18? Walk away with 2 of Wilson, Olave,Williams,Burks, etc.....

if that happens jjaw and reagor are cut before the pick 19 comes in

No. Zero percent chance.

Since WR is now the 2nd most expensive position in the league, and teams need 3 of them, I have come around to the thought of drafting one in the 1st for the 3rd year in a row (especially since they flopped with Reagor).  Williams has the most upside, and he's not a 1 trick pony.  His ACL tear was clean.  He'll be back 100%.  I'd take him at 18 and possibly 15.  You gotta have 2nd level thinking and forget about Hurts.  If they were drafting for Hurts, they'd draft a RB and elite OL in the 1st, then run a 70/30 run pass ratio since he can't throw.  This pick would be to have 2 stud WRs for 3-4 more years on rookie contracts with the future at QB anticipated next season.

Yup, the wr contracts this off season were nuts.

I still think there's a sliver of hope for reagor but that wouldn't keep me from drafting his replacement.

He was horrid last year and Jameson would fill that roll of a speed guy that Howie's been looking to fill ever since torrey Smith left

Months before the draft:

Fans:  Don't reach, Howie.

Days before the draft:

Fans:  Take a DE, take a CB, take a . . .

How about we target no one, and just let things play out and go BPA and trade down for value when the opportunity presents, or trade up when the cost is less than the jump in tiers.

If you stick with your board, there should be plenty of opportunities to make good deals in this draft, as players you like drop b/c there is no consensus.

The official scapegoat of the 2022 draft is Alec Hallaby.

Please blame accordingly.

Chase Lucas is another CB I really like , can play zone but he is better playing man  , very good athletic too . Very sharp from the neck up , and he enjoys playing the run . He is one of my top 5 or 6 CBs

Excellent zone corner. Can tackle well. Apparently he’s highly intelligent and good at diagnosing route concepts.

I wouldn’t love the pick, but I assume Gannon wants more zone coverage with two high safeties, and that means having smart corners who can pattern match.

His arm length though… that’s a problem.

I just think, if you want a CB specifically for his zone ability, and tackling you can do just about as well with Alontae Taylor, or Josh Thompson. Since when did zone CBs start going in round 1? It doesnt make much sense. I hope its a smoke screen for a CB they really like instead, like Elam. Or thye take a zone CB later.

I take McCreary over McDuffie  , Gordon  too  . McCreary is so smooth and smothers you  …. steal in rd 2

McCreary is a R2 target.

Chenal is my favorite LB in this draft. But, we aren't going LB for at least 3 rounds, IMO.

That would be a excellent draft.  How realistic is that though? Serious question for the people who know more than me.

This is my ultimate

I didnt realize Damone Clark had a hearniated disc at the combine and they said he will miss the entire season after needing a spinal fusion surgery.

No wonder he has been ranked so much lower than his talent indicates.

The Panthers might be the best trade down partner since Douglas won’t likely pass on Gardner, has anyone heard anything about them and Baker or Jimmy G?   I can’t imagine their management will agree to give up any more future picks for Jimmy G, since his surgery.

That whole deal was weird, it was announced at the combine that a herniated disc was found and he needed a fusion. I thought you needed a few bad discs before a Dr would recommend that type surgery?

I could see Gannon wanting a bunch of those guys and I could see Howie waiting until UDFA to address LB.

I think both the Penn St kids would fit in a Gannon D, luketa at that Sam 5th pass rusher spot and Brandon Smith as the chase and tackle guy. I mean Taylor was pretty raw as well but he can run.

I think Anderson from Montana state would fit with what Gannon wants, tindall as well.

I'm not a big fan of dean or quay Walker as much as tindall and surprisingly despite my user name I'm not as high on Lloyd as some.

To me he's more smooth than he is fast or explosive which is fine I just think explosive players and plays win out in the NFL more.

This lines up well with Jurgens in RD2 talk.

Trade interest in Herbig yet no one signed him to a restricted free agent offer, despite there being no draft cost.  I don’t buy that. Rather Howie spreading rumors to drum up a market.

The Panthers said they aren’t trading for Mayfield before the draft — if at all.  Not sure if they see Baker as a significant enough upgrade from Darnold to make a move.

I still have a hard time believing SEA will go into the season with Drew Lock and Geno Smith at QB.  If they do, that may be an unspoken overt tanking for 2022

Completely unrealistic mock draft.

I traded back 5 times with the second 1st rd pick, to get 10 picks in the first 5 rounds - I really doubt you could pull that off. But this would clearly help the defense, sprinkle in a WR,  bruising HB and a Gaurd

I think Jameson is off the board when we pick at 15. We'd have to trade up at least a few spots to land him.

Well, there are 50 picks in the first 14, so that is possible. After all, Ohio State got it wrong favoring three other WRs over him. That one year at Alabama made him all world, just like Ruggs and Jeudy proved to be. Sorry for the sarcasm but he is a bit overrated IMHO.  I hope Howie’s smokescreen is working on the other GMs.

Ruggs and Jeudy have Jameson Williams posters in their bedrooms. The Ohio State guys do too.

Agreed.  Zone CB in Round 1 is a poor use of resources.

I get the sentiment, but zone turns to man and takes a lot more intelligence/mental processing than straight man coverage.

The Rams traded a boat load and handed over a bunch of cash to play predominantly zone with Jalen Ramsey.

New game.  Who has been a 1st round lock all draft season, that will slide to the 2nd round?  Injured players not included....

My pick: Devonte Wyatt
