I just cant help but think even with 2 decent 1st rd picks, that Howie will screw them both up.

Here is how I think that hapens:  Someone trades up to pick 13 or 14 and takes the last guy we had on our board of 4 that we thought would fall to pick 15

so at 15 Howie panics with a rushed pick,   and by 18 he is trying to hit a home run with a project or high risk pick.

This has been Howie's draft downfall. I'd bet on them using the Saints pick to trade up.

So 16th pick four year vs 10th highest player. That… seems problematic. 😁

I could see it being a problem for LBs/RBs as a select few make good money as FAs while the vast majority make peanuts. Looks like the author wanted to go with a median approach rather than an average. Dunno - the results aren’t surprising, adds some context though.

I can’t remember a draft that had so many older prospects , quite a few 24 year olds

Yup covid season gave a lot of dudes that extra year

That's because a lot of guys stayed longer because of the pandemic and the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility.

My guess is Howie packages both picks to move up and take a guy like Kayvon Thibodeaux….

You draft the positions in the lower right quadrant because they are both expensive and less available in free agency.

Is Quay Walker worth the 51st pick?

Carolina needs a QB, but have pick 6, and the next pick is 137.  They are ripe for the picking.  15, a 3rd and Hurts and move up to 6 for Sauce, then take Ridder at 18.

I think QB chances are getting less and less as we get closer.

Do all that and maybe take Ridder in the 2nd or later.  Ridder won’t be a first rounder.  Not unless someone dumb reaches for him.

Ridder will absolutely be a first rounder. Highly doubt he makes it past the Steelers if Pickett is already gone.

McLane has the Eagles trading up to 11 and taking Jordan Davis with Kyle Hamilton and Jermaine Johnson on the board. How would TATE feel about this?

I like Davis a lot but if those two are there, I’d be angry.

I saw something about that yesterday.  Why would the Raiders do that, ,with Waller, Adams and Renfrow that offense would be lethal.

I think the Raiders make the WC this year.

Pretty much everyone who covers this team, to a man, loves this guy and is pushing him as the Eagles pick and in my opinion it's lazy. The thought process is he's really big and athletic and Gannon wants to run a 5 man front sometimes so it has to be him. Again, lazy in my opinion. Wyatt is a much better fit in their defense and in my opinion a better player.

Wyatt and him are different players. Wyatt is also old and has personal red flags. I don’t see them drafting him. They brought in Davis and Jones. They clearly want a NT who can take on a G and C, freeing up the edges from double teams and keeping your LBers clean at the second level. We still don’t know exactly what Gannon values from his LBers, as his cupboard was pretty bare at LB last year.

Who would you be most disappointed to draft in the first: London, Dean, Wyatt, Linderbaum?

Linderbaum.

Covid.

I would say, yes. There are a bunch LBs I like in the 2nd-3rd round tier… although I worry that it might run dry by 83.

He totally will. He'll miss on the first, then trade back to the point the good people are gone and screw that pick up, and he'll sure as freak blow the 2nd or 3rd round picks he gets for moving back.

They are not taking a LB before day 3.

Nice media plant by Howie. Stir some fire under Reagor, poke toward some interest in Reagor (probably for next year), mislead teams into worrying about the Eagles picking a WR early.  He hit for the cycle in this one.

Only if he gets anyone to buy it.  Snake oil salesman is only as good as his last sale.

Daniel Jeremiah thinks he might slide into the first round. I've also heard some people in the NFL like him more than Dean.

Yes. There's a couple of guys I'd rather see available there, but he's worth that pick.

Id take walker over dean.

I think they will take one in day two. There are a few I could see Howie considering.

Before White, I’d have higher hopes.

Just an opinion…based on numerous years of draft history and then signing two LBers in free agency. Not saying I wouldn’t want it (I love Muma).

I’ll take that bet on Ridder not going that high.  Avatar control!  3 months.  Not before 25.  Ok?

Yeah sure, why the heck not. Gives me something even more to root for besides the Birds. But you said first round…so wouldn’t that include 26-32?

Couple trades:

Small trade up with HOU (15, 101, 2023 3rd for 13 and 2023 5th).

Trade down with TEN (18 for 26, 90, 131)

Then another small trade up in the 2nd with BAL (51, 124 for 45)
