Are we certain that 2023 picks are off limits this draft if Howie falls in love with multiple players in the 1st RD?

I hope it doesn't happen, but never know with Hungry Howie.

The only time off limits, and Howie should be mentioned is when it comes time to pick the BPA.

I think Cine , Hall and Winfrey go earlier than most think . I also think London is first WO drafted .

It would be kinda dumb to initiate trading out of the 2022 draft into 2023 just to trade back into 2022 from 2023. Not sure he could pull that off and it still be a net win.

The Texans have picks 3 and 13.

The Jets have picks 4 and 10.

The Texans might want 2 firsts from the Eagles to move to 3, but don't need two more this year.

The Texans (or Jets) might want 15 this year and the NO pick next year.

That’s a little different than the proposed scenario.

And I’d say no.

Cyntia Frelund from NFL.com did a pro comparison breakdown based on computer modeling of the top WRs, then matched them with the best fit.

Garrett Wilson - OBJ with shades of Desean Jackson

Drake London - Vincent Jackson with shades of Mike Evans, Brandon Marshall and Jarvis Landry

Jameson Williams - Cross between Will Fuller and Terry McLaurin

Well played, sir.

Recent mocks have very little action on QBs early.  I'll believe it when I see it.  This league is too desperate for QBs.  There will be a run on trade ups and QBs by the 10th pick.  I cannot fathom the Panthers not taking a QB like many are now saying they won't.

Oh no, Howie is getting drunk and trading up with all our 2023 first round picks

If Rhule wants to save his job I don't think reaching on Pickett/Willis is the way to go.

If I owned a farm, I'd bet it that Carolina drafts a QB at Pick 6. With that shitshow QB carousel they've paraded the last few years, one would think they'd go Willis, Pickett, or Corral (in a trade down).

But who the heck knows. Anything is possible.

Taking a QB for the sake of taking a QB, in a bad draft class, isn't helpful when you have no picks to improve the team around them. This is how you stay in the perpetual QB carousel.

Because they do not have another pick in the draft until 137.

Really good draft for punters , I know everyone has Arazia as their top punter but give me Stout over him , the kid from Tulane is pretty good too .

He is just expressing his fear that QB's are going to fall and Howie may take his hero's replacement this year.

I'll bet they don't. No great prospects, and no one really ready to play Week 1. Picking a QB doesn't always buy time. Look at Nagy from last year. They should trade back and build up the team. Not that it's any more likely to save his job, but maybe if they play average he can buy himself another year. They still have some good players on the team.

They can draft baby hands but not bolster the OL so he fumbles once a game and looks like crap. That'll surely help him keep his job.

For all the snarky complaints in this thread every time somebody mentions drafting a receiver... the Bears are good example of why you want to have some pieces in place BEFORE trading picks to get a QB. The Bears got Justin Fields. Now what? Lousy OL. No receivers. Terrible running game. One less first round pick to find weapons. So we're looking at year 3 or 4 before he has any talent around him. By then... you'll never know if his bad play is ability or lack of organizational support.

He’s starting his 3rd year into a 7 year contact worth like $60 million. Tepper has enough money to pay that several times over, but firing him this early is a waste.
It should come down to who wanted Darnold, if it was Rhule, and he pulled the "college genius” card then he deserves to be fired, but if that was the GM, then Rhule hasn’t even had a chance with a good QB, including Teddy 2 Gloves.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/04/26/scott-fitterer-would-feel-comfortable-with-a-couple-of-qbs-at-no-6/

Fitterer has already told Sam Darnold they're likely to add a QB -- whether that's at #6, a trade-down, or bringing in Mayfield/Jimmy G.  It's possible they trade back to the 12-15 range, but more likely Pickett is their guy wherever they pick.  He seems comfortable with it, which means Tepper is comfortable with it.
