I give Howie's trade to 13 an A+ and the pick a B.  I think Howie wanted Williams or Davis, preferably Williams.  He traded up from 15 to 13 knowing they'd both be gone at his pick.  It was a very slick move.  And he got one of the two.

I don't love a hole plugging DT in the passing NFL in round 1...especially when we JUST gave big money to Cox and Hargrave.  But Davis is a unique prospect who will start for many years here.

Howie did a reasonable job with the board he was dealt.

It isn't.

We didn't trade up to 15. The Texans picked a player that we were never going to draft. Then Washington picks a player I think we would have liked.

I wonder if Washington trades out again. They could use corner, wr and oline. Plus QB long term.

Depends on which haynesworth you get. Titans haynesworth was actually good. When he got paid by Washington got bad

This is a great pick because it’s high floor AND high ceiling.

A realistic worst case scenario is he’s a very good 2 down run stuffer who occupies two blockers on 2nd down and frees up the pass rush. Not what you want ideally out of a top 15 pick, but that’s a pretty high floor that projects very well at the NFL level. So, it’s relatively safe.

What gets me juiced though is that the only way to really stop modern passing is immediate pressure up the middle. Davis has that potential. He’ll be one of the most powerful players in the NFL and he’s pretty damn athletic. Can you coach him and train his body into being a consistent pocket collapser? Maybe — the potential is there! On top of that, at 6’6” he’s going to actually disrupt passing lanes at the LOS.

So you’ve got a low bust potential guy who might be able to become special. Pretty good risk/reward!

This is spot on. His combine numbers were basically insane. If he can harness any of that…any of it, he could be the best player to come out of this draft. His floor is a massive run stopper who demands double teams and frees up everyone else.
