Or, Howie is just inept at drafting WRs.

I don't think there's much debate there...

ESP is such an idiot.  Jefferson has 3016 yards in two years, Brown has 2995 yards in 3 years, and is about to have a massive downgrade at QB.

Horrible take ESP.  If the Eagles had DK and Jefferson then they wouldn't have had to trade up last year for Smith and trade away picks for Brown this year.  They also wouldn't be moving their 2nd round pick to  tight end just to see if he has ANYTHING to offer and they wouldn't be looking to trade Reagor for peanuts.

I dont like how we went from 11 PIcks to now going to get only 6 players out of the draft.

That being said below are some thoughts so far

  • :I have been an advocate to have Howie trade picks for known WR talent, because he has proven himself to be inept at drafting that position
  • Davis was the guy I targeted, and if he turns into the stud in the middle we did well with that pick
  • If we get 4 impact players from these 11 picks (Brown and Davis are half way there) Then that is on par or slightly better than Howies normal hit rate anyway
  • We do still have Dillard and Reagor for possible trade bait, but I am not sure either will bring much value. Maybe DIllards worth a 4, Reagor a 6th?
  • If we dont trade for more picks, you wont have to watch the Draft on Saturday. Who cares about pick 237?

well today reagor has to be traded , hopefully get a 3rd back , plus jjaw should be cut right away since a 7th round rookie would be better then him as a project TE. howie needs to get DB's and EDGE and BACKERS now. maybe the honey badger.

Did you need this Tweet to confirm that?

YOu wont get a 3 for Reagor. EVeryone knows he isn't that guy. You might get a 5th at best, but I would bet no better than a 6th, because he really is limited to a returners role, limited WR role.

I was a big trash talking draft Kenny Pickett guy. I get to eat crow for being a hater.

Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Howie being Howie. Good work so far.

Liked the Jordan Davis pick.

Surprised by the AJ Brown trade.

Hopeful we hit on the remaining picks.

QBs still on the board... Bailey Zappe on day 3

Better pick CB, S, DE, OLine on day 2

Gotta be LB today

How did stingley go before sauce?

His tape as a freshman in 2019 made him the number 1 pick in the draft, but injuries dropped him to number 3.

The Eagles have set themselves up on defense to stop the run with minimal commitments in the box.

Remember last year early on how bad our run D was? Had to make a few changes at LB, and had to get away,  a lot, from Gannons preferred 2 high looks so a safety could help...

So we added a LB who can cover.  Drafted a gigantic NT to go along with Sweat, and Cox who is also an excellent run player. And Graham as well.

They need a #2 CB and a S somewhere.  But if they can figure those positions out, this D will finally be run exactly the way Gannon wants it to be.  That should be very interesting to watch.

I have to say, I’m totally fine watching our stockpile of picks dwindle. This team doesn’t need more bodies or long shot lottery tickets. It needs impact. And we are using those picks to acquire that impact.

this was never going to be a one year fix, even with the volume of picks because what we really need on this team is contained in the first 3 rounds.

I'm really lukewarm on the moves last night.  Not because of the players but because of the process and the roster construction.

Davis is a beast.  There were talks of him being the 1st overall pick during the season.  However, the Fletcher Cox situation makes me scratch my head.  We all know the Eagles build from the line out and DT was a need in the draft.  What's the point in cutting Cox and then bringing him back at $14 million just to go and trade up for another DT.  You also have big money tied in to Hargrave and spent a 3rd on Milton Williams last year.  I view Williams as a DT.  Now the thought of Williams and Davis playing together is pretty exciting.  Again, no problem with the player but question the previous moves.

Regarding Brown.  He comes in and is now WR1.  Howie's track record of drafting WR is pretty much trash so adding Brown, who's still just 24 and a known commodity is probably better for Howie than trying to draft one, especially since he was pretty much forced to take Burks, trade down or overdraft like the Redskins did.  Reason they had to trade for Brown though was because of Howie's poor draft record at WR.

Lastly, the Eagles started the night with 11 picks and now only have 5  in a draft where all we've heard that this is a deep draft and the strength is going to be the middle rounds.  In true Howie fashion he almost always ignores the strength of the draft.  Of course the draft has 6 more rounds so Howie better be on the phone trying to get some of those picks back.  Sadly, two first round busts might only get us those 4th and 5th round picks back.

Dillard, Reagor, Hargrave, Seumalo, Herbig and Minshew are all players who could be moved.

I think we're going to see a safety and QB run to start the 2nd.  Bummed that both Hill and Cine went in the late 1st.  The tier 2 safeties should fly off the board.  Willis and Corral are excellent value in round 2. Maybe that pushes Ridder, Strong or even Howell down to the 3rd.  If any of those QBs are available for the Eagles the value might be too good to pass on.  However, that takes away from other positions that they sorely need to add to.

The Eagles still need S, CB, LB, DE, RB, G and TE.  They have 4 picks.  Let's see if any players are moved.

Again, no problem with Davis or Brown at all but I don't like the process of Howie Roseman.

Philly is going to love this kid. lol

If I understand this correctly, this means that the Cox contract is actually tradable...

On the question of why re-sign cox at that number and then trade up for a DT, you have to unlink those moves.

personally, I don’t like that they brought Cox back, but you don’t not draft Davis because you did something dumb with Cox.

and they made the Cox move when getting Davis was a complete maybe, not a done deal. Far too expensive, but Cox was nothing more than one year insurance at a position they value but didn’t have a long term option for.

Let the the WRs go early and often.

I could only imagine how the Blog would react to that.

I love the player so I wouldn't hate it at all but I doubt it happens

It is a need, down the road.  We gave up 6 lottery tickets and didn't get too much better with our current assembled team.

A.J. Brown >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Reagor

Anyone know what percentage of snaps AJ Brown took from outside vs slot?

I don’t so asking

And QB’s

Jerry Jones showed reporters his draft board to prove their pick wasn’t a reach. We should call them up and discuss Reagor for a 4th 😂. Convince those morons he can replace Cooper lol.

Agreed.  We still have needs at CB, DE, S, LB and need a punter still.

With all the picks, Howie did not have to be perfect, now there is no room for error.

Someone did say this draft would be crazy...

Yup could have focused on building d instead of more resources on WR.

Eagles fans- "Don't reach Howie go bpa"

Also Eagles fans- wah why did we draft a d.t. when Cox is still here

Seriously guys Cox is Fing old and Howie just shored up our d-line for the future and got us a hell of a w.r. we shouldn't be ****ing about it
