Yeah a squib ending the game isn't exactly a foregone conclusion there. One bad bounce and it can be downed at the 25 or even closer to midfield, taking as little as a second or two off the clock. You can't force a returner to pick it up and start running if he's determined to down it as soon as he touches it.

Going for 2 pt conversion was probably their best bet, chances are they would have gotten it.

However, the Ravens were on offense in your example and they've changed the rules to deal with that.

In this game…that was their best chance to win and would have done more to swing the odds in their favor than a squib kick.

Under the circumstances, asking Josh Allen to get 2 yards feels a lot better than asking their defense to stop Mahomes from getting into FG range in 13 seconds.

I believe they changed it so it's a 15 yard penalty, but the time still comes off the clock i think? Sure seems like they should tweak it again, to add up 15 yard penalties together or something to that effect.

The Bills were playing too loose, having seen Hill run right through them the possession before.  Sidelines didn't matter, KC had timeouts.

I'd rush two and double almost everyone.

 

If you only rush two you leave yourself open to the Dak QB Draw of Doom. 

No one should have really learned anything from tonight’s game.  This has been how things go for a while now.  But reactionary people like Howie and Lurie absolutely might have watched this game and now have different thoughts on the QB position.

Yea i think I've had enough internet for today. Arguing whether they should've gone for 2 is bizarre, to say the least. This fanbase could overcomplicate 2 + 2.

Couple things about Andy…

1.  He went stale here and the team quit on him.  He was clearly the best offensive genius in the NFL and I was never in a rush to fire him, but after 2012, it was clear he needed a change of scenery.

2. Drafting Patrick Mahomes, Kielce, and Ty Hill (credit to Andy) will make any coach look like a genius.

3. AR turned to the dark side after bringing in Vick (who I actually now like as a person).  He was always known for taking less talented choir boys in his time in Philly.  The Vick experiment gave AR the taste of exceptional talent he could get at a discount if he went after players with questionable character red flags.  That really impacted things in KC.
