Call me Nick Foles.

Can't, defense only made 1 play in that game. That was a straight up shoot out.

I'm glad we got our Lombardi before all these young QBs emerged, sheesh.

I think about this all the time.

Wentz, pre-injury, was supposed to be that guy.

See...I was right.  It was Ryans as Mufasa!!!  Uh huhh..

I like Ryans as the answer.  Same number.  I win.  Next!

Philadelphia Eagles cut DeMeco Ryans

Wow from that angle that’s definitely Demeco - good catch.

as long as the "QB factory" isn't using the same nethods in picking a QB that they did when picking Hurts, then we might have a shot. But if the exact same guys are using the exact same methods of determining who to pick?    I'm not liking our chances. You have a better shot at winning the lottery on Wednesday.

I still think he was drafted to be a Hill type of guy. It blew up in Howie's face. That said sadly Wentz wasn't the answer anymore either.

Feels so long ago already.

They made several.

McLeod's tackle on Brandin Cooks in the red zone when he tried to leap over him.  Huge defensive play.
Jenkins' hit on Brandin Cooks changed the game.
Strip sack.
Knocking away the Hail Mary.

In 2017, he was that guy.

Just a few times.

You are correct, was still a shoot out though.

Yeah, as time goes by, the only redeeming part about the Hurts pick was that it expedited Wentz's departure.

At this point it's pretty clear, Wentz is not that guy anymore, but at least we got a 1st rd pick back before it was too late.

A Hill type of guy or someone they were going to try and spin around and trade.  Those were my first two reactions the night we drafted him.  That and sheer rage....

You, me, just about every eagles fan I know, and Carson Wentz

No doubt.  But the defense made the plays that needed to be made.  That's what defense in the NFL is now.   Get the big stop when you need it most.  Eagles' defense did that in that game, despite giving up the yardage they did.

It took this year and the Colts for me to see that actually.

Watching Wentz in 2017 was something else, it felt for a moment that we had the next great QB.

I thought we would dominate the NFL for the next decade with him at the helm.

Man I love the random vague Eagle LB references...what a ride we've had over the last 20 years.

Btw, I dont care if the Bills were the #1 defense all time.  Didnt matter with the coverage the coaches dialed up. That was the dumbest thing Ive ever seen in a big game, rushing 4 for no reason at all and leaving Kelce essentially 1 on 1.  Morons

Yup. ...most are talking about Allen and Mahomes and how elite they are but the defense called by both teams towards the end of the game was stupid.  Same with the Rams-TB game.

I was out on him halfway through 2020, I had seen enough, but there was always that chance that being back with Reich and in a new lock-room would "fix" him. It didn't.

Explain if you don't mind.

Just saying if we can get younger and reduce the cap we could be in a position where our needs aren't as many year over year. My fear is that we bring in a QB and we're spending the next 4 years saying...."if only we had (Fill in the blank) to help our QB." I'd like to see our needs reduced first. A top tier QB that can lift an entire team up is rare and past performance is not always an indicator of future performance. I'd much rather look to build a team that helps any QB first and has the cap space available to fill in gaps and lock in good young players.

And then draft a quarterback? So 2-3 years down the road? Just when all the cheap rookie deals are running out?  Then he takes 2 years to develop? And we're still in the same boat.

This. That methodology puts you in line for a vicious cycle. QB, LT, CB and DE are the only spots where I can support overspending the market a bit.

That's why reducing cap is so important. It allows you to lock up the good young players to favorable contracts that keep them here for the long term.

If Kelce retires do you think they go with Isaac Seumalo or draft someone early?  Many of Seumalo's draft profiles if I remember correctly had his best position as a C.

Sorry but this is Howie's approach and it doesn't seem to work

Seumalo, Dickerson and draft are all options.

Assume we stick with Hurts and Kelce is back.  How would you realistically fix the offense?  I'm guessing these are the  spots we most need upgrades (RG, WR 2 and 4, RB2 and 3 (maybe 1, 2, and 3). TE 2.  Who would you realistically like to put in those spots via FA and Draft picks

LT - Mailata
LG - Dickerson
C - Kelce
RG - ?
RT - Lane Johnson

WR 1 - Smith
WR 2 -  ?
WR 3 - Quez
WR 4 -  ?

TE 1 - Goedert
TE 2 - ?

RB 1 - Sanders
RB2 - ?
RB 3 - ?
