Innocent in a court if law, this isn't a court of law, says nothing anywhere about innocent until proven guilty in a court of law

Is Rothlisberger innocent of rape because he settled out of a court of law???

I mean, yeah, he doesn't have any conviction of rape on his record, as far as I know.

It's fun to sort of paint Ben in that light, but the first accusation against him seems tenuous at best:

"Both Roethlisberger and Harrah's denied the allegations. In August 2009, a former coworker of McNulty's claimed in an affidavit that McNulty had bragged about sleeping with Roethlisberger after their encounter. In September 2009, McNulty's lawyer offered to drop the suit if Roethlisberger would admit that he had assaulted McNulty, donate $100,000 to a Reno charity for abused women, and write a letter of apology; Roethlisberger's lawyer called the offer "bizarre" and rejected it. The case was settled out of court in January 2012. After the civil complaint was filed, the NFL took no action."

The second one certainly had more meat to it, as the victim actually filed a police report and had several witnesses (though they were her friends); but ultimately they decided not to proceed with criminal charges because it would be too intrusive on their life. Far be it from me to understand a rape victim's mindset, but here's the DA's statement:

"On April 12, 2010, the Baldwin County district attorney held a press conference to announce that he would not pursue criminal charges against Roethlisberger, saying, "[H]ad [the accuser] not written and taken that position, the victim, her family, and her lawyers, that they did not want us to prosecute the matter at all—and they made it crystal clear in the letter—an honest answer is I would still be announcing the same result. We, based on the evidence here, don't have enough evidence to prosecute."

On the balance of probabilities, he's likely guilty in the 2nd encounter. But, we say that without all the evidence coming to light, which is the accuser's right. So at the end of the day, Ben is indeed innocent of rape.

Let's assume Burrow's arm is just the same as Hurts.  If their arm strength is equal, why is Burrows so much better at QB? It's not like Burrow is so much more experienced a starter.  I mean Hurts started 30 more college games and played in more NFL games than Burrow.  He has 7 less starts but he was better in those 7 starts.  The problem with Hurts is that his arm strength is combined with below average processing and below average mechanics.  The result he is slower to make decisions and then to get set to make throws.   Sure it would have helped Hurts to have better receivers but receivers don't fix his problems.

And if receivers are really the difference, whose fault is it that Hurts has Reagor and JJAWful instead of Higgins and Boyd ??

Why is that ??  Why isn't he throwing to Reagor, JJAWful, Watkins ??

Well, to be honest, Hurts doesn't throw to those guys either.

Here is what having an actual QB will do for you.

Eagles leading receiver Devonta Smith

64 catches for 916 yards and 5 TD's

Bengals #3 receiver Tyler Boyd

67 catches 828 yards and 5 TD's

Underrated comment 🤣

Luckily for us, they have a new GM so we're back in business with all 31!

Can't wait to beat him twice a year.

I am reminded of when Giants hired Gettleman as GM and the media praised it, hyped it up, and everyone was worried about how good the Giants will be now.  Those were good times.

I realize we all come from different backgrounds, different gentics, with different apptitudes and abilities etc.

But imagine watching the QB play in the playoffs the past 2 weeks, and coming away, still believing Hurts is our guy, or is still capable of being THAT guy?  Imagine being one of the very few remaining Hurts backers left and trying to convince the rest of US we are all wrong?

I mean I guess it is possible, but I have not seen anything from Hurts to even remotely suggest he can be that guy, even if we consider him basically a rookie for the next 5 seasons.

The choices for the Eagles are move on now or later.  I am not really in favor of moving on now for any of the current rookie prospects.  I think the team would just be sinking resources into a player they would need to move on from down the road.  The worst case scenario for this team would be Howie falling in love with some prospect this season and trading up to get him.  The other way to move on from him would be to trade for another QB.  To me, the only QBs that are worth trading for are Wilson and Watson.  I am do not like the risk with Watson.  I think his off field behavior and actions to the FO make him too much of a liability.  I don't think Wilson is worth 3 firsts but probably could reconsider that position at this point.  The reason the Eagles should keep Hurts is because he's a low cost starter that doesn't cost the resources needed to improve the roster.

I’m guessing Mara probably views it like tom coughlin would do something like that. When in reality feels very much like joe judge saying something of that nature.

I thought he was trying to say it in a joking manner but couldn't veil his real feelings.  I don't know what it means for him as a head coach.

Super Bowl Sunday can identify as any day it wants.

Just because.

How dare you refer to it as Sunday.  Sun sounds like Son and Son is a masculine term.  That's sexist and oppressive to people who don't identify as male.

Microsoft Word would call you out for that!

7 years?  This upcoming season is year 2 of a 2 year "rebuild", from my understanding.  Pretty sure they plan on (already) being competitive in 2022. (Like they were in 2021; hopefully better).

Lurie said they are looking out 5 years but expect to be able to complete in the short and mid term as they rebuild for the future. What I've concluded from Lurie's comments is that we are looking at 2 - 3 years of shedding cap, acquiring draft picks and using them to get younger. This would be the true rebuilding years where we shouldn't expect much. The following years will be more focused on building for shorter term success. If we're are not serious contenders by year 4 or 5 I think it's safe to assume something didn't go according to Lurie's plan and someone is going to get thrown under the bus. I'm not sure where anyone got a 7 year number? Lurie specifically mentioned a 5 year maximum time frame to get us back to being "the gold standard" he once saw us as.

I mean the criticism of him in Carolina was that he pissed off veteran players like Steve Smith and Josh Norman.  He had a decent track record.

So.....you don't believe Watson gets to have his day in court? Innocent until proven guilty and all of that?

We get it, you're of such low moral integrity that you want to look the other way at 20+ accusers because you like how he plays football.

Just like you looked the other way and pounded the table for Joe Mixon.

I suggest you read the stories of David Milgaard and Guy Paul Morin (perhaps two of Canada's most famous cases, I'm sure there's tons in the USA as well).

I like a society in which the rule of law works as intended.

You can’t assume.  Because that is the root of most of passing problems.  That’s like saying, "let’s assume Reagor was a good player”.

I get it but it doesn't help an argument on Hurts.  It just points out the other deficiencies in Hurts' game.

So Hurts had both the 3rd best WR open rate and the 3rd best pass block win rate.  If this data is in the ballpark then it's a very telling conclusion of his QB play.

I see on the bottom of the table it's compiled from more than just one source.  Interesting.  Thanks for posting this.

Somewhat.  I believe the game planning also targeted a ball control offense to protect a dismally staffed defense.  Blame Howie.
