It is hard to prove discrimination or racism at times. As it should be. The burden of proof is always on the accuser. Regardless, no one should be punished without proof. That isn't justice. And there's a difference between saying "someone told me they didn't hire me because I was black" and "they didn't take the interview seriously and it may be because I was black." The former at least even if you can't provide documentation of it, you have someone's word indicating blatant racism. But a lot of accusations of racism are completely baseless assumptions based on the individual's own interpretation.

So the problem with your analysis is that we can never know someone's actual thoughts or feelings on the issue. People can also be unconsciously biased.  There's tons of data on all kinds of ways that there are different outcomes for people accused of the same things based on race.  I mean blacks are routinely vilified more than whites in media when accused of the same crime.  https://news.osu.edu/white-mass-shooters-receive-sympathetic-media-treatment/ There's no question that Flores has the burden from a legal standpoint. I don't think he has to show some overt racist act. I don't know that his interview not being serious is discriminatory.  I do think it's problematic if every interview with a minority candidate is not serious.

In my experience, accusations of racism tend to be born out of people's experience being racialized.  Part of it is the leverage but part of it is just the lens that society gives them to view their experience.

When an owner sells their team to a minority buyer for a discount, I’ll start taking their racial pandering seriously.  32 for 32 white.  Does Lurie have any comments on that?

We have the Rooney rule so they don’t have to answer for themselves.

And to avoid liability

Wouldn’t even make sense to be Watson since all this was before he signed an extension with the Texans.

It'd be Watson without a doubt.  Brady isn't going to visit Ross on his yacht, nor is it a reasonable expectation that Flores would have any sway at all in recruiting Brady leaving the Patriots.

Should be a level headed day in the blog

It was 2019 and early 2020. Watson was fine and didn’t want out of the Texans until early 2021. He signed his extension in September of 2020. And again, Watson and Flores were friendly. Flores is the reason Watson wanted to go to Miami. It makes no sense Flores would storm out of a meeting because Watson was there.

Um.

A) it says 2019 which would be well before Watson said he wanted out, and would be a huge tampering story.

B) If he’s tied to Flores then why would Flores be storming out of a meeting after seeing him?

A) Well yeah, Flores is indicating this was a huge tampering situation.

B) Because Flores doesn't want to tamper.

Damn you’d think producers for man in the arena would’ve filmed this

day 1 of Brady’s retirement feeling an awful lot like his playing days.

Extending Epps and Hargrave would make sense.  All of the other players listed would be dumb.  There's no real value to extending Graham, Slay, Johnson or Seumalo.

I kind of like the Slay idea.  He's an over 30 CB I know. But they're talking 2 years to free up that much money and he is playing as well as ever.

I think it's a solid gamble to take.

the HUGE HUGE problem with lack of diversity in coaching is this

All the unathetlic kids who are interning or coaches assistants...... are white

all the guys who got beat up, tired, rundown and had to retire early....are white

All the analytical nerds who suck at sports.....are white.

I feel like you always here of big name "white dudes" who stick around and want to coach and I rarely(if ever) do I hear an African American sticking around.

Maybe Deon, but he doesnt really coach, he's a glorified cheerleader who's really good at recruiting.

Watson didn’t want out of the Texans in 2019 and 2020. He wouldn’t have signed an extension in September 2020 if he wanted out.

That is true, we can't always know, but when you file a lawsuit, knowing is kind of a big deal. If you want to take down someone or some thing, you need to get that proof. I think people can be unconsciously biased, I think there will always be bias in all walks of life. It's pretty normal. And I think some bias is ok to a degree. Like dating for instance. Some might prefer to date a certain ethnicity, and I see nothing wrong with that. Bias might even be evolutionary in nature. At the same time, not all biases or inequities are in themselves evidence of racism. It takes effort to do so, but one must always explore why there are statistical disparities in certain aspects of society rather than just pointing to those disparities and going "See? Racism!" Sometimes it will be and sometimes it won't be.

I think it is a problem too if all minority interviews are not taken seriously, but as of right now we don't know if that's the case. For all we know, the Broncos brass could treat every candidate that didn't have a serious chance at the job the same way, regardless of race. And they're just ****s in general to everybody. We don't know if it is just Brian Flores they disrespected, if his read on the situation was correct... which hasn't been proven yet either.

Okay? I don't know what this has to do with this scenario.  Texans were and are a dysfunctional franchise.  The Dolphins later right before the season fleeced the Texans in a huge trade where they got a massive haul for Laremy Tunsil.  Not out of realm of possibility that the Dolphins were hoping that Flores could work his relationship with Watson to put the idea in his head of wanting to come to Miami.

I’m not superstitious but I just think the moment they sign him to an extension his play will precipitously decline.  It is more like I’m a little stitious.

Indeed.

How disingenuous of you to use facts.

Maybe Belichick’s master plan to get back at the giants for the two super bowl losses was "mistakenly” texting Flores…. And where’s my medium soda! No days off!
