Why?  We know what Jalen is going to give us.  His floor is an average QB with outstanding running abilities.  It's pretty common for passers to make big leaps in their first couple of years.  If Jalen does that they he's the guy for years to come here.  If he cannot make that leap, then we know what we're getting.

You don't want Watson.  That guy has so many red flags.  I think he's untouchable.  You can't be desperate enough to want somebody in this draft class.   So, what does that leave you with?  You gonna give up a ton of high draft picks for a year or two of Wilson or Rodgers?  Trade for an average placeholder like Garopollo?

Oh sorry I forgot this is now Hurts 3rd rookie season.

Seriously Hurts Ceiling is pretty much where he is. He has not shown any improvement in reading defenses, and being able to make a read and throw the ball ON TIME. Lacks ability to throw with anticipation. Bails from clean pockets. As he gets older and more injured his running ability will decline, so I will argue this is as good as it gets. And he was only mediocre against the bottom part of the league. He was horrendous against anyone with a winning record.

Stop with the nonsensical wishcasting. I also think I could possibly marry Jessica Alba next year, I mean, she's a woman, and I am a man, so why cant it happen?

At least the eagles wouldn’t have lack of t shirt ideas.

Not so. You are drafting him to sit for a year and maybe two. He has a lot to learn but his arm talent is fabulous. Backup? Not even that. Call him a future.

I would have no problem using one of our firsts for him if they feel he can be coached up. I also think this is the perfect place for him. He won't be expected to play anytime soon. Hurts can finish out his contract and by then Willis should be ready. I would much rather use one of our #1s on him than spend two or three on some veteran, any veteran, who might be available.

Hurts has 2 years left on his contract. Who's spending a 1st on someone just to sit them for 2 years?

I don't know if Sirianni's goal is to have a mobile QB. He wasn't all that familiar with running RPO's and brought in some coaches that are able to teach it. With his background with Philip Rivers I would believe they would be more comfortable with a QB like Strong. I worry about his knee and his ability to move around in a pocket, but I'm also not very high on any of the QB prospects this year.

Good job Snyder and Washington. Absolutely crushed it

I like the idea of Willis if someone could max him out and help him reach full potential.

But drafting him would be a panic/overcorrection after watching the Allen/Mahomes game thinking it’s realistic he turns into one of those types. I was hoping he would have produced more this year to at least be a Trey Lance level prospect but he didn’t even do that.

And he has 9 1/2" hands.  Make it happen Howie.

I would take Wilson or Watson (with a few notable requirements) depending on price. I'm leaning toward Carson Strong from what I'm reading from posters on here if we draft someone.

And yes if I have to I can live with another year of Hurts and during that year I would be ever so hoping that he could change his flaws

Not great choices, are they?  I guess Watson counts as an available QB but not at Houston’s price even if he is cleared.  Thing is that he won’t be cleared before the draft, has a no trade clause that he hasn’t indicated he would waive and is still controlled by the Texans. Also would take some significant retooling of his contract to fit under the Eagles cap. For that reason, I didn’t include him as available.  Winston is a pure UFA.

I have looked at Carson Strong.  I don’t see him as first round value.  Decent read skills but not great.  Tends to lock on the receiver.  Good arm but not great placement or accuracy.  And the knee is a real concern.

Throw out the draft games valuations and watch Crum in the Shrine game tonight at 8 on the NFL Network. He’s a poor man’s Strong without the knee concerns.  All the faults that I listed for Strong are similar for Crum.  Strong might be a tad more accurate and Crum played at Kent State v Nevada for Strong (MAC v Mountain West) but draft value wise, I think Crum is a safer bet because of how much I question this year’s QB class.  5 year player because he went back to school because of the short Covid season last year.  Struggled a bit against large conference teams, especially A&M, but those defenses were killing his OL, not a surprise.  Does look to pass, not run, which you would like.  In All Star games, the QBs don’t know the receivers but I am real curious on how he does tonight.

Where have I heard that fable before?

Minshew on last year of his contract.  Likely to be replaced next year.

1.) I don't get the NFL network anymore. I decided a few years ago to stop paying for it. (The NFL gets enough of my money).

2.) I have reason to doubt you on Crum.

3.) Yes, the choices aren't that great but here we are

If they draft a quarterback this year anywhere near the first round it's not to have him backup Hurts (at least not long term)

He looks happy wearing 96. I don’t see any issue making that number available.

I haven't heard much about it, but why is Jeff Lurie's son becoming more involved? Besides the obvious reason of being the owners son.

Someone’s gotta call the plays and set the depth chart when Lurie wants to slow down.

They had such a good opportunity to rebrand and rollout a new look.  Something different and creative and that completely blew it.  😁

Hogs or Pigskins....or anything....Yet they role with the most generic option they had.  Hell, as generic as the name "Warriors" is....it would have been better than the Commanders.

Someone yesterday brought up they could’ve just called themselves the Washington districts and went with the district in a marketing opportunity. Don’t love it but it’s still better than the commanders that they ripped off.

That's dumb to.

Not great either but still would rather be The District then the commanders.

Of course, he and his staff are doing their due diligence on all the QB prospects.  I am sure they have people at the Shrine practices doing the same thing.  I would think those that insist that the Eagles must immediately replace Hurts would be thrilled that the Eagles are taking this approach.  Based on the practices, I suspect they are questioning the value of the QBs in this class.  Let’s take Willis.  Big complaint on Hurts is his ability to read.  Willis’ strong arm doesn’t make him better at reading.  His games against bigger schools didn’t convince me he was any better.  Raw and a project?  Why would that be acceptable for Willis in the first round and not Hurts?

Great question.  It wouldn't be.  I am fine with Willis, but I think his value hits the mark around Round 4.  His arm talent might push his potential up to Round 3.  But, he's going to have to be coached hard and have to be open to that and really working on his game WITHIN the pocket.  His arm is not comparable to Hurts... so that helps to push him as a better prospect than Hurts.   But, then again, I had Hurts as no better than a 3rd round prospect either.  He wasn't as raw as Willis, but still very raw and with a limited arm.   And again, I wouldn't have drafted Hurts at all, because I just didn't like his arm for playing in the NorthEast.   Cold, windy, rainy, snowy days don't really seem to be something that his arm would allow him to work effectively (at least throwing).

This has got to be one of the most bizarre coaching hire strategies. What does Baalke have on Khan?

No clue why?  That doesn't even make sense.

The same reason who wizards have jerseys saying the district in big letters followed by of Columbia in small. It’s actually one of their better sellers and supposedly the merchandise sales on the district stuff sells more than just wizards stuff. And marketing you could do a lot as it’s the District of Columbia but shortening it to the district.
