The Giants wanted Daboll to be their HC from day 1 and they interviewed Flores because they had to. I'm sure he was treated differently. I'd have treated him differently too.

Once Hurts came out after half time and went 3 drives, 18 plays for 48 yards and 3 punts, it was clear we were not going to win that game and Sudfeld got his time he was promised. You forgot that there was a drive in that group that started in Washingteam territory and they went backwards on 3 plays. That was the last drive he played in, IIRC.
February 3, 20223 yr I guarantee a large portion of us in this room have interviewed knowing full well that the interviewer already had someone in mind, and that the interview was more of a formality. Some times its about just getting your foot in the door and establishing a relationship (this is the opposite of suing every man, woman, and child involved in the interview) It doesn't make it a "sham" it just makes it reality. And oh by the way, in doing all of this, Flores has thrown Belichick right under the bus. Belichick is THE entire reason Flores is even coaching in the NFL. Nice job, d head.

When you, I, or anyone else gets interviewed for a position that they want to give to someone else it is a "sham" interview. That said if you force teams to interview people based on their color these things are going to happen. They want who they want and I highly doubt they give a crap what color the guy they want is.

Not true at all There is value in just getting an interview and establishing a connection. You might be able to change someones mind or at least give them something to consider. Might even end up with another opportunity.

And as for the Broncos thing... I just have a REALLY hard time believing that they'd show up late or drunk, let alone both. Maybe I am only seeing what I want to see though. Maybe things are much worse than I imagine. I am not assuming anything in any of the complaint is true. I do think it's likely the Giants just preferred Daboll to Flores. The decision in and of itself probably was never with meant with any racist intent. It's just the impact of the decision may be discriminatory. Racism is a charged word. These are difficult cases to pursue. I don't know if Flores has a leg to stand on anything more than a very superficial level.
February 3, 20223 yr Jermaine Johnson missed practice today (ankle), but is still planning to play in Saturday’s game.

And... the decision making ALL future interviews less intense might also have happened, but once again doesn't make it racist or discriminatory either. Frankly, I hate all this stuff. I just want sports completely isolated from all the stuff that swirls around and makes the world an ugly place. But, for me, that was shattered as a teenager when the OJ thing happened... and even a little before that as a youngster with the death of Pelle Lindbergh.

I bet a pro QB coach will get more out of his arm when they clean that base up a little. If I had to rank QB's and had to pick one available, I would have them Strong, Willis then Pickett.
February 3, 20223 yr Watching Willis, has all the physical tools, and has Josh Allen type potential. A couple things from this video. First throw, just drives the ball, can not teach that. Now for some more nuanced things. 2:40, pre snap recognition. Looks at the WR to hold the safety, but has already diagnosed the RB to the flat, ball is out quickly for the TD. 3:00, sees the out and up route, the second the WR plants to drive upfield the ball is out.

Some teams are elevated by playcalling (SF, ATL), some aren't (CIN).

According to him Doug promised Sudfeld the entire second half to showcase his talent since he was a free agent to be, but went with Hurts for the 3rd Quarter to win the game, and then only went to Sudfeld because he practiced all week and was promised playing time. Eagles trying hard to distance themselves from Tankgate with that explanation. That's pretty much what happened...it's well documented.

It's a common experience. From a legal standpoint, it could be discriminatory is there's a racial disparity and only the minority candidates are having the interviews that are just formalities. Part of what seems to be going on is that teams are complying with the letter but not the intent of the Rooney rule. Maybe the Rule is the problem. Maybe there is a better process that leads to better outcomes.
