While GMs can be stupid at times, this is still their job.  They don't just compare prospects to each other in the vacuum of a single draft.  No one has special value for being the second best WR in a draft if they are still a lousy WR prospect.  If 3-4 QBs go in the first round, it means they are decent prospects.

It means they are decent prospects in the eyes of the 3-4 GMs that selected them.    Remember, Tim Tebow was once a first round pick.  Was he a decent prospect?   Trubisky at #3?  Bortles?   I don't think they were considered to be that good of a prospect in their respective years, but one GM got antsy.

I agree with the premise, but at times, especially with QBs more than any other position, I believe a lot of times GMs see what they want to see in the prospect many times.

You say that and somehow guys like EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder go in round 1.

I think teams just get desperate and talk themselves into it.

Absolutely. Rex Ryan told a story of how they landed on taking Sanchez in 2009. He was just the best option available at QB, so they went with him.

Hadyn Howerton from SMU looking good in the Shrine game. Absolute bull in a China shop type player.  Looking better in pass protection than during college.

Looks like I’m gonna be a Strong Stroker

The thing that Willis has that gives him a real chance to work out is his arm. He can be accurate often and his arm strength is great. His arm talent is on a different planet than Hurts and just about every prospect

His issue is decision making. He holds onto the ball too long, occasionally gets mixed up by coverage, trusts his ability out of the original play structure too much (and usually rightfully so). I think these are all things that can be developed with the right coach and time. It might not happen, but it is definitely possible.

I'm definitely in for Willis. Hurts is hopeless to me, Willis requires possibly a year or two of patience and then it could be really special

Happy for Doug. I wish him well. We'll play him next year too, at the Linc.

Trade for Lawrence. Doug can bring Foles back to Jacksonville🎣

Happy for Doug, truly.

No surprise that he's back.  But he didn't land in a great spot.  Good luck, Doug.

Wentz vs. Doug twice a year, if Carson is back with Indy.

Vs Doug

@ Reich, Wentz, (maybe Shwartz)

@ Foles (maybe)

Next year is 2017 Eagles civil war

I wish Doug wasn’t walking into a S show, but I’m glad he gets Spielman to work with instead of Baalke (mostly).

Yep. I don’t see this ending well for him.

That to me is the most interesting part of this. Who is he hiring? Did Howie and Lurie force Khan and Doug to hire those guys?

Apparently, Baalke put together Urban's entire staff last year, so maybe he can help Doug with that. Baalke may be a head case, but he built a solid staff in Jacksonville and has a solid draft record.

Doug has the QB part settled, in today's NFL, that's half the battle.

What? He has Trevor Lawrence. The hard part is done. Build the rest of the team.

Baalke put together teams that earned the No. 1 pick in back to back years. He’s bad.

Ohhhhh....didn't even think about that.

Guess I'm rooting for the Jags in the AFC. Happy for Doug.

Maybe.  Lawrence hasn't proven anything yet.

Dude could be a bust.
