Oh, they have an identity... just not one that they want to embrace.

Lol I hear ya. Just saying they have pieces. Lawrence, Josh Allen, Shenault, Tyson Campbell, Myles Jack, Cisco, Etienne, Robinson. Granted they have a ton of holes too. But they’re going to get Aidan Hutchison, or drop down for a boatload of picks to the highest bidder. And they’re very young overall. Doug is the players coach they need down there. Him and Urban couldn’t be further apart on the all important scale of emotional intelligence.

I wish Doug only the best, but I don't think he will be successful in Jacksonville.

His amicable personality will go a long way to put out some fires there, but we know that Doug isn't that guy, like AR, with a binder and a plan on the ground floor.

Meh, schedule is a non factor when evaluating qbs, a guys arm strength isn't going to decrease with a harder schedule nor is his accuracy or decision making or ability to navigate the pocket

Only difference is passing windows may be a little smaller which one can adjust to.

Plenty of qbs throughout the years from small schools that have been successful in the NFL and if they weren't had nothing to do with them coming by From a small school

I worry about Willis because he's short for a QB.

If he was 3-4” taller he’d for sure go top 3 this year.

I agree with you for the real world, but the NFL is such a tight fraternity... only 32 places to go and they just dance around and turn over every 3 or 4 years it seems, so if you can't get the job now... who knows where the next opening might pop up when you need it.

Seemingly every year

Bad comp , Trask navigated the pocket beautiful with the Gators , he was calm cool and collected back there , nice foot work , he was mobile enough to give the receivers times , and was good throwing on the move ,

Just a awful comp , cosell is like DJ , they at times put stuff out there to get you talking .

imo

I thought the issue with Trask was that his arm wasn’t particularly strong. Weird comparison.

I think he will definitely improve on 2021’s record, and that may be enough to buy him time. As good as Hutchison is going to be, with the amount of holes they have, they should definitely be looking to deal #1 to the Jets, Giants or hell, even us…to get two 1st rounders this year and start filling holes.

I agree.  Their issues haven't really been talent related overall.   And that's what happens when drafting at the top of each round year after year.   Jalen Ramsey?  Yeah, they had him.  Fournette when he was on the top of his game?  Yup.  Plenty of talent, just a disaster of an organization.  Their primary issues exist off the field much more than on the field.   Can Doug get them all pulling in the same direction and make them one team instead of a bunch of individuals?   Time will tell.  Will Baalke ruin it?  Maybe.  Will Spielman join them?

I don't know about that but it wouldn't hurt him.

When two of the pieces you list are RBs coming off significant injuries and another is a a safety who played limited snaps as a rookie you know there’s a problem.

6'1" bothers me.  It matters when we are talking about field vision.  While it has been done before (Brees), there is still a reason QB's are so consistently 6'4"-6'5".

Agreed.   Lots of openings every year, but it always seems that the guys who get the jobs have a connection to the ones doing the hiring, even if it's just sitting together in the stands at the Senior Bowl or Combine... they have some sort of network.    In the NFL coaching world, seemingly more than any other profession, it really is all about who you know.  And the better you know them... the more likely you are to get the next opening.

He’s gonna go in the top 15 this year as it is.

Fair enough. Like I said, they have a ton of holes and would benefit from a trade down.

How did they define 'success'?

I had that same question.

If he didn’t take the Jags job, it seemed like he was destined to be out of football for another year since there was no talk of him being an OC anywhere. Two years out of the NFL would make it a lot harder to get a HC job, you’d think.

Russell Wilson is shorter. Watson is about the same size. Those are two guys being seriously discussed as targets for us not long ago.

I agree with that as well.  The Jaguars have issues.  I think Doug can fix some of them.  He won't be able to fix them all by himself.

It was , apparently his arm is stronger now per QBs coach , I think it’s a bad comp , maybe it’s just me

So what has the Bucs excited about Trask’s development?

"The biggest thing we’ve done is get him a bunch of technique work between practices and after practice,” Christensen said. "Working on his technique, his arm strength, and we’ve really worked hard on trying to get his feet quickened up. He’s a good athlete, but just working on quickness in the pocket and working with his feet.

"We’ve worked on his stroke a little bit, too. We’ve had the luxury of getting the chance to do that. Usually you don’t have the chance to. There has been no urgency with him having to play this year. He’s dropped some weight with the emphasis being on quickness and his throwing motion.”

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Trask is a big pocket passer. Physically, he is a perfect fit for Bruce Arians’ offense.

Yet Trask hasn’t really lost weight so much as he has transformed his body by muscling up and reducing his body fat index thanks to the Bucs strength and conditioning program.

That's fine, I'd rather it wasn't with the eagles.

Willis is a well built 6ft 1 , he is put together

And both are already proven they can play at that height, Willis who knows.???

Wonder how tall his O line was in college.???

Same. But I think Howie is enamored.

Hopefully Doug can put a nice staff together , and he has found his voice. , he was too soft spoken . Can’t find a nicer guy though . Jags have the resources to get better fast .

Four years ago today. Seems longer.

Meh, I don't agree but I'm moving on.
