This, and the only reason he got the job was numerous people turned down interviews or out right turned down the offer as it seems with Leftwich

Baalke and the FO are the issues.  I don't think it would have been his last opportunity.  From a roster standpoint, Jax isn't in terrible shape.  They are projected as having over $70million in cap space.  Doug, if nothing else, is a players' coach.  He will be able to woo FAs.  They have 4 picks in the top 100.  He can do a lot to turn the team around just by being competent.

He has Pickett as the winner at QB, but because he was more consistent and looks more pro ready.

Pickett was his top prospect going into the week.

7 out of 5 Howie's - You outsmarted yourself.  I think there's maybe more talent at DE than CB in the late first range.  I would like one DE or Edge prospect if they are using all 3 picks. Lloyd would be good.   I am not sure if Skyy Moore is a person or a place.  Bailey Zappe is also a fictional character and not a NFL prospect. If they are looking at QBs outside the first, I think EJ Perry would be worth a pick.

For anyone that's curious, he was non committal. Sounded like he was leaning towards retiring at first, then finished sounded like he'll be back.

Just a little ol' confirmation bias, I suppose - personally I don't really know what any of the QB prospects at the SrB did to improve their stock (unless having a double jointed thumb is not just cool but good)... so maybe Pickett is still #1.  I hear Coan did well last night at the Shrine, but I also heard the DBs were overmatched by the WRs all week.

He said, he wants to play...he just needs to make sure it's the right decision...and if he can still be a good teammate, leader and player then he is coming back.

But the emotion side of things with Kelce and even his humor...I think he's getting elevated to my 2nd favorite player of all time.

I didn't get that vibe at all.

I did because he said he needed to step back and let the emotions settle down after a terrible game. His first thought was "can that (Bucs) game really be my last?" and then said "well every last game is going to be bad unless you win the SB." Then went on about much harder every year is. He finished strong leaning toward coming back. Just got the vibes he's undecided. Still seems to have that drive to compete and play but I'm just curious if he takes a step back and talks himself out of it.

Watched more Willis. Really quick release. Tight arm motion.

Nah. He said no one did anything this week to separate themselves, including Pickett. If a team covets the high upside of Willis, he could go ahead but only went with Pickett because he was the most consistent every day where Willis is kind of all over the place. Someone else even said one day the best 3 throws of practice were Willis while the worst 3 throws were also Willis.

Yup, I don't really pay attention to the stats or the school when it comes to QB, I want to know if he can throw with velocity and accuracy, both those are going to carry over no matter the competition.

Throwing on time and pocket presence and footwork and reading a defense all those can be improved over time.

Running ability and agility quickness, those are nice attributes to have In a QB but if that QB also has a noodle arm or can't hit the right side of a barn who cares how fast he runs, which is where I think we are with hurts

At least with someone like Malik Willis he has the requisite arm strength to be successful, hurts does not

Just curious, were you concerned about Foles arm strength?  Was a knock on him out of college.  I think Hurts is plenty strong.  It’s the mechanics and feet that impact his throws.  Foles fixed his incredibly long wind up.  Arm strength isn’t a worry for Hurts because that can be fixed.  It’s the harder things to fix.  Speed and ability of reading, anticipating the receiver, and pocket awareness. Those are not necessarily fixable.   Thing is, I see those same issues with Willis.

Happy for Doug. I wish him well. We'll play him next year too, at the Linc.

Congrats to Doug Pederson, well deserved opportunity.

And congrats to Tevor Lawrence; Pederson will likely bring out the best in him, imo.

Lol yeah I'm not sure if double jointed thumbs help or not🤔

I dated a girl once with double jointed elbows, didnt really help her throw a football😁

Howie and Doug couldnt make a decent pick so I doubt Baalke and doug with either.

I think if he didnt take this job he would of had to go back to an OC job for a year or two and thats something he probably didnt want.

This keeps his name fresh, his opportunities open and because people realize how bad the Jags are and  Baalke, even if he does "ok" in the next 3 years and gets fired(which is my prediction) he will have his name up for HC's jobs thenv

They will draft either Okwonu or Neal first. Baalke's record with first round picks has probably more hits than misses especially on the defensive front.  I think Doug's name would continue to come up as a HC candidate.  McCarthy was 2 seasons out of the game and 4 seasons from his last winning won when he got a job.

I think Jax's FO is a mess.  It's more likely that it won't work out than it will but it's not a bad job from a roster standpoint.

Not that niners fans are that much better but LA fans are the worst. The only game I’ve ever gone To in LA that there wasn’t some short of incident was a Lakers game. Dodgers and Rams there’s always an incident. I went to one kings game and there was like two fights that broke out not on the ice. I didn’t even know LA fans cared about hockey. I went to a UCLA Arizona game for basketball and there was a fight.

We as Philly fans gets a bad reputation but LA fan is way worse.

I’m fine trading all the picks if it lands the Eagles a QB Siri believes in. Would it take all 3 to get into the top 5 for our guy?

If you went strictly by the NFL Trade Value Chart, trading picks 16 and 19 would get you the value up to pick #4.  I'd have to look at recent drafts to see what the actual price for such a move is, though.  In the real world I'm not sure if #15 and 16 would get the Giants at #5 to make that trade.

CAR is picking #6 and may well take a QB, so if there's a QB the Eagles covet that's what it might take.  That trade would likely need to be made on draft night, though -- because if you make it weeks ahead of the draft someone else will just trade up overtop of them -- then the move is "useless"

Thing is, they are fixable, but it takes 2-3 years to find out. But the ones who have the best idea are Siri and Johnson, that is, they know if Hurts is picking up things they're teaching but just struggling to translate that to games (needs more reps) or just doesn't "get it." I mean Stafford is a ten year veteran and you can still count on a couple WTF throws every game.

Nope wasn't concerned with foles arm strength In college, I remember watching games if his pre draft and thought not the strongest arm but good enough

If hurts arm could get stronger don't you think by his 3rd rookie season it would be

Hurts arm in college was noodle-esque, it's still noodle-esque, sure I guess tweaking some of his mechanics might help a little bit even then I can't imagine it will be enough of a difference.

From the description that's what I first thought as well,

If one doesn't want to get punched in the mouth maybe one shouldn't be pushing dudes in the back.

Sounds about right. Miami went from 12 to 6 last year trading just a future first. Buffalo traded 12 and two 2nd's to get to 7 in 2018. Teams will probably insist on #15 and #16, but it should be enough to get to the 4,5,6 range.
