He looked just as bad at reading a defense, pocket awareness, arm strength, anticipation throws in week 1 as he did in week 18 against Tampa in the playoffs.

Week 1 was probably the best he has looked. He had me excited after that game.

I think the first half of Denver is the best he looked. Problem is the second half he had one bad play and then shut him down for the rest of the game. 

Atlanta had a couple of nice throws but it looked like it was a one week scheme they practiced all offseason that caught Atlanta off guard.

Yep. That first half against Denver gave me a lot of hope for him....only to see it crash and burn horrifically in everything that followed. The Quez drop at the end of that half seemed to be the end of good Hurts.

That's the problem... that's when teams overpay for the wrong QB and compound the problem.  

Unless the Eagles have some great season in 2022, Sirianni better win at least one of those Colts/Jags games. Knowing Lurie, if the Eagles win like 7 or 8 games and miss the playoffs, and they have ugly showings against Reich/Wentz and Doug, Sirianni is toast.

I think he was nursing a high ankle sprain most of the year (yes, injury prone) and that impacted his play.  Hurts had a high ankle sprain the last quarter of the season.  That, Howard’s stinger and Scott’s illness really sapped the running game.

We as Philly fans gets a bad reputation but LA fan is way worse.

With the Niners, the red color and uniform is claimed by the norteno gang members. You may think in the stadium that you are trash talking a fan, but in reality you may actually be taking on a gang member. The blue color is associated with the rival gang surenos. So the red vs blue thing is more dangerous than LA vs SF.

That seems to be his MO.  Which is why he needs to sit and get his mechanics right.

Hes always Injured that's the problem.

Either way unless he injured his eyes a high ankle sprain isn't going to negatively affect his vision.

But yeah they all got hurt towards the end of the season 

Pederson and Reid always said they carried 5 backs because it's a tough position and tough sport 

Eagles definitely had to use up to 5 this past season and Howard at about 220 was the biggest.

Where as In 2017 pederson had Blount at 250 Ayjayi at about  225 and clement at  220

Even the year before he had Mathews at around 225, even though that dude was made of glass but still bigger backs.

Not many QBs improve in speed and ability to read.  Is it really fixable?  I think your optimism bias is clouding your viewpoint.  I think he may show some slight improvement but I question that he can get close enough.  And with his mechanics, he doesn’t have a quick flick to counteract his slow reading nor the tight footwork to operate in a small pocket.

Hurts arm in college was noodle-esque, it's still noodle-esque, sure I guess tweaking some of his mechanics might help a little bit even then I can't imagine it will be enough of a difference.

 

Noodle-esque was Kellen Moore.  With Hurts I see it more as a combination of bad mechanics (both throwing and footwork) and pulling the trigger too late (both mentally and in his mechanics).  His release seems late in the throw and contributes a bit to his lapses of inaccuracy. His stance is too broad meaning he relies on arm strength to launch the ball.  May be the most fixable thing in his game.  He needs to learn to stand taller presnap too.

You talking about foles or hurts???

If hurts I think yeah sure he can improve those things mentioned and I still don't think it's going to make a significant improvement on his arm strength.

I don't think hurts has the arm strength to threaten all levels of the field which limits ones passing scheme.
