Lol he shows three bad playcalls as if that was the difference. Doesn't show the other playcalls with wide open WR's who our QB saw but didn't throw to, for...reasons. Yeah, it was those three calls that really did us in.

They ran 9 screens and I think the only one that worked was the one that was called back for holding on Kelce. That was a TE screen. It was a dumb game plan. Sirianni should be roasted for his stupidity. One screen pass to Reagor is one too many.

Did teams stop doubling Cox and start doubling him? That Cox was doubled a lot this year is a myth Against KC to that point he had a season high single block opportunities and saw more single blocks than doubles, in that game he put up a doughnut on the stat sheet, no tackles, no pressures, hits sacks, nothing. Not sure what his season long double team to single block ratio was but I'm going to guess it was way down from previous years and statistically Cox responded by having one of his worst years. He's cooked, that team officials keep saying he does so much more that doesn't show up on the stat sheet is an over blown statement attempting to justify his ludicrous contract where he's the highest paid player on the team. I'll always be grateful for fletch he was key to the eagles super bowl run and has been real good for years but Howie held onto him to long and the constant pushing money back of his contract makes it harder to get anything for him in a trade.

January 19, 20223 yr I wonder if Wentz has any options to start out there if cut. Maybe the Panthers or Steelers? Really can't think of any other teams.

There was an article a few weeks back talking about why WR and RB screens in sirrianni offense are so ineffective and the reason stated was because defenses are mush rushing hurts to contain him in the pocket instead of pinning their ears back and rushing him, which creates Lanes for screens, without that rush the DL are sitting right on the screen Those WR screens might be more effective without a heavy run threat qb.

Anytime he asked Hurts to read the defense and throw to an open guy, he couldn't do it. His hands were completely tied. Hurts is 95% responsible for why we lost that game.

January 19, 20223 yr Apologies if posted, I saw the question asked, what is the league seeing that we are not ??

As bad as Hurts played, it could have been much, much worse. I counted 3 or 4 dropped interceptions by the Bucs.

January 19, 20223 yr 3 minutes ago, downundermike said: Apologies if posted, I saw the question asked, what is the league seeing that we are not ?? In the past 5ish years, the NFL has hired from the Eagles - 2 GMs and 1 HC. There are 2 more Eagles GM candidates this season as well as Ganon being a HC candidate, sooner or later all 3 will get hired. Regardless of our (valid) frustrations with the Birds at times, the league has a lot of trust and a very high opinion of the franchise. That's something I guess.

It's been a steady decline, until 2020 when it finally bottomed out. to me the hurts contingent really goes back to they want a franchise quarterback so bad and him to succeed so bad knowing we need that franchise QB to really achieve consistent success that they’re willing to make excuses and shift blame off him. I think that’s what we are seeing. I also think there’s just some fans who are blind with loyalty to the Eagles and won’t see what’s in front of them.

I guess as long as he's not calling defense it could work Maybe teams like his organizational skills and leadership qualities and attention to details and he's well spoken in coach speak If I were to hire him I'd require him to let his DC call the defense cuz that's not Gannon's strong suit. I hope they do hire him though, Fangio is light years ahead of Gannon as a DC.

When your QB is limited, you have to run a short passing game to get the ball into the hands of the skill guys. If Hurts could successfully push the ball down the field, you would not have a defense playing 8-9 man in the box all day. We are limited by a QB who can not pass effectively 3+ yards down the field. You wonder why the Bills destroyed the Pats on Sunday, here is why.
January 19, 20223 yr I think Gannon is likely better than what many on here think. What does he have to work with?

Fangio, maybe he goes back to being a DC, which I would absolutely welcome to replace Gannon if he goes. If Gannon returns, I'm good with giving him another year with some improved players to see what he can do.

But I do think he was at a bigger disadvantage than the offense because I don’t think they have remotely good enough talent. I was fine bringing them back for a second year and giving him more talent to see if he’s just an eh defensive coordinator or if it was more just a talent issue
