Pierce is a bull with the ball in his hands. And he’s got low mileage. Reminds me a lot of Doug Martin. I’m a big fan. And yes I agree some of these slots are improbable. Replace Beavers with a D’Marco Jackson and it still holds true. I’d train Gainwell or Rambo up to handle return duties. I mean after all the rules changes, the days of Dante Hall or Devin Hester are over.

Pierce is sort of like a young Howard, a N-S runner with a low center of gravity that can break tackles, but he is also supposed to be good in pass pro blocking, which most RBs out of college aren't.  I like him in the 4th/5th as well.

I tend to agree but depends on the cost

rather draft a kid like watson from ndsu and get 3-4 years on the cheap

Cincy's Pierce in the 3rd would also be a good pick, IMO.  Not as big as Watson (6'5" vs 6'3"), but can still stretch the field and play both outside or slot.

So Pierce and Pierce for me in the 3rd and 4th.  :P

I’m weirdly ok with taking a WR in the 1st again. Burks/Williams/Olave/Wilson id be cool with. Prefer defense but kind of like Dickerson last year I could talk myself into it. Don’t know much about Pickens yet

Id take Pickens over Olave, Wilson, Dotson, and London.

Burks may be better just because he has the prototype size. Williams is sort of a 1 year wonder. He was a transfer. Metchie was supposed to be the guy in that WR group this year, and here emerged the speedster instead. with the injury....he and Pickens are neck and neck for me.

Since Pickens was a freshman he looked like he had the potential to be the 1st WR taken in whichever draft he entered. He never did anything performance-wise to lose that designation. Just the injury...

If he got to play a full season last year he would be firmly in this discussion already. Here we are still talking about Jameson Williams as WR1, just because he got most of the season in, and speed. Pickens is legit...

Who is in charge of the EMB collection and can they be trusted more than the average one of us?

It's Paco and Binky so yeah, they can be trusted.

The NFL is between a rock and a hard place with the pro-bowl.  Putting together a watchable game just creates an unacceptable injury risk.

For some of the crazier fans who obsess over individual players, it’s probably better to cancel the game altogether.  A flag football game could be interesting.  Or skills competitions like they used to have.  A 40 yard dash (didn’t they do that?).  Longest throw for the QBs.  Hit some moving targets.  Have the OL play a flag football game.  Or film them all playing each other in madden.

It’s not easy to create a watchable all-star football product.  The other major sports are far more conducive to it.

Not disagreeing with u. My question is what was the incentive to actually play back in the day? I'm 28 and have memories of pro bowls where the players took it seriously. Sure nowadays they're preventing injuries, trying to secure their future etc.. so get rid of it at this point. There's no equal alternative imo. Seems the NFLPA forgot that was the point of the pro bowl. Showing fans what a real game would be like with their favorite stars and awarding the players.

When Brees broke his elbow back in 2007 (?), I knew the pro bowl was done… I’m actually surprised it hasn’t already morphed into the all-Madden team playing Madden.

It was kind of sham back then, but at least the players showed up.

Baseball and basketball can play all-star games; it’s largely a non-contact sport.  Football and hockey can’t come close to any intensity nowadays because there’s too much money to lose if someone gets injured being hit

Just do a team skills competition and be done with it

I haven’t played Madden in a decade, so I have no idea what positions can be controlled now.  But they could easily still customize a game where every player controls themself at their position in a video game, right down to the OL/DL, WRs running routes, etc.

Just like the peaceful protestors did

No more like when hulk smashed the aliens in avengers, though I don't think he ever lit anything on fire, things just exploded after he smashed them.

Either way if Hamilton dropped all the way down to 15 and Howie passed on him I'd be a little smash happy

Hamilton I think is a generational talent at safety and the eagles got nothing at safety currently.

There’s no fixing the Pro Bowl. You can’t incentive players enough to try hard or care after a long season and it draws too many viewers for the NFL to care.

$$$, ultimately.

Back in the day there is no social media, limited access and barely internet. The Pro Bowl was another platform for them to get recognition, endorsement deals and even more money, etc etc

I watch almost every game I can and even I skip the Pro Bowl. I have for years. There's just nothing of value in that game. I'm glad for the players who get into it but even that's kind of sham now due to how many players pull out of the game and how many alternates end up playing. Maybe it's good for the players for leverage when doing contract negotiations and maybe they get a free vacation to Hawaii or wherever it's held but there's nothing of value for the viewers. It used to be on the week after the Super Bowl and they moved it in 2010 to try to increase ratings and interest. It worked for a few years but, based off of this graph I found, people realized how much it sucks and ratings are going down again.

Next year the pro bowl will take place in the metaverse. Each player will wear a headset and control themselves virtually.

That’s still a massive amount of viewers for a Sunday afternoon

That's pretty childish but seems to be the trend of athletes now. Curious what Cards do. Do they think he's the future?

Cardinals will sign him. He’s not bad enough to walk away from. Probably not good enough to ever win a SB though.

I figured most these guys are so into Madden anyway, they just play a tourney. Esports is likely a bigger thing than I realize, so that’s the tie in.

That's kind of the impression I've been getting. He still hasn't thrown for 4k yards

I'm not sure if I'd say it's massive. Granted it's better ratings & viewers than most television shows but much lower than pretty much any nationally televised NFL game. The Pro Bowl is the only option for NFL on that day and people still don't bother to tune in.

I meant compared to non NFL programming. Top shows on Sunday night on cable only pull in around 2 million views. For Sunday afternoon it’s a lot to have 6M compared to a rerun sitcom or movie.

Love both Pierce’s. Doug Martin at Boise State and Dameon Pierce could be brothers. Muscle Hamster II

As far as Alec Pierce he’s my favorite non-R1 projected WR in this draft. If they DO go crazy and go R1 again, I hope it’s Burks.

He can win a Super Bowl. He's not going to carry you like an elite QB would, but he's significantly better than the Jimmy G types.

Sometimes we put too much on QBs IMO. QB is one position on the field. The most important for sure, but you have to have the other pieces. Cousins can contribute and win a SB with a very good team.

The Vikings disagree

My opinion:He wants a new deal and AZ isn't clamoring to give him one yet.

no decent OC would want to under study doug , since he will want to call plays. why would you work all week to install your offensive game plan to hand it over to someone else. doug's OC will really be a QB coach.
