The NFL is between a rock and a hard place with the pro-bowl.  Putting together a watchable game just creates an unacceptable injury risk.

For some of the crazier fans who obsess over individual players, it’s probably better to cancel the game altogether.  A flag football game could be interesting.  Or skills competitions like they used to have.  A 40 yard dash (didn’t they do that?).  Longest throw for the QBs.  Hit some moving targets.  Have the OL play a flag football game.  Or film them all playing each other in madden.

It’s not easy to create a watchable all-star football product.  The other major sports are far more conducive to it.

They have the skills competition.

He’s getting what he wants, Attention.   These younger guys now love the attention and that’s why they pull this social media BS.   You signed a contract, play or don’t.  I don’t give a F.  But spare us all the pitty routine.

So he's a troll pouter

I miss the old QB challenge competition.

A flag football game could be entertaining, especially without pads and helmets where guys can play faster.  They could also make the quarters shorter like 10 minutes or maybe first team to score 35.

The way the Pro Bowl is now is such a waste of time.

Funny thing is, the most serious injury that's come from the Pro Bowl in recent memory happened to Robert Edwards, who was playing in a sandpit flag football game.  I can't recall even a minor injury coming from the actual game, even when they tackled.

I meant compared to non NFL programming. Top shows on Sunday night on cable only pull in around 2 million views. For Sunday afternoon it’s a lot to have 6M compared to a rerun sitcom or movie.

If I had my choice of the Pro Bowl or TBS playing the Back II The Future Trilogy, I'd watch BTTF for the 100th time 10 out of 10 times.

Kiper and McShay are saying that the buzz from the NFL community from the senior bowl is that Thibodeaux and Stingley could fall out of the top 5 and into the 10ish range.

And that the 2nd DE off the board could be Travon Walker from Georgia.

A bummer for me as he was becoming my fav DE target

Hutchinson now Walker potentially jumping ahead of Thibodeaux…guy was a surefire lock for #1 overall this time last year. Crazy. Stingley I’m not shocked about. I think Gardner is the prize CB of this class by far.

Well, Tampa needs a QB and he's retweeting comments from Mike Evans so...

A CB they said to keep an eye on as a riser is Tariq Woolen. A converted WR who is 6"3 with 33 inch arms and runs in the 4.4 range

It's a good class to have mid-round 1st rounders. Lack of blue-chip prospects + lots of B+ prospects

Generally... things change in the rankings from the year before to the year of the draft.   King Dunlap was considered a 1st round pick the year before the draft by some publications.  He ended up in Round 7.

Oh for sure. Just funny that he increased his tackle and sack numbers in 2021 and forced a couple fumbles and he’s gone from #1 DE to potentially #3. He’s a steal past #5 overall. If he dropped into the 5-10 range I would hope the Birds seriously consider a move up. Also, BTTF2 is criminally underrated.

I cringe at that...

Let's start a rumor that he blows his leaves into his neighbor's yard in the autumn and maybe we can get him to fall all the way to #15.

Love Woolen. If they were able to grab a Booth, etc. in R1, I’d be happy if they were able to grab this guy on day 3.

I just hope lots of teams fall in love with the QBs. Don’t think it’s cringe worthy, the kid is a stud. Not like I want them to move up for Matt Corral.

There's probably at least 100 different programs or movies I can think of I'd rather watch than the Pro Bowl.  I stopped at least 10 years ago.  I chuckle at people complaining about it each year, yet they go back.

I don't remember which was the last Pro Bowl I watched.  It might have been the last year that Dawkins was a Pro Bowler as an Eagles safety.

The Pro Bowl could be many things. Today, its a game where players play dress up in pads and don't tackle - that should not be it.  Make it flag football, 7 on 7, beer pong or a rap contest, but as it is, it's pointless unless your contract stipulates a bonus for making it there.

Or make players do a pass, kick, punt thing

Exactly

Not moving up for him. Karlaftis and Walker and better players imho

I still don't know what to make of Karlaftis. He looks the part, is suppose to light up the combine, and BIG10 DEs are dominating the NFL.

Maybe I have too much PTSD from high motor DE picks from the past...

How can you go wrong on the d line with a guy whose name is pronounced "car liftus"  sounds like and old roman strong man

When McShay and Kiper hit on draft selection, it will be the first time.  They tend to be off about 70% of the time.

True. But in this case they weren't giving their draft analysis, just what the scouting community told them during the Senior Bowl.

They both still have Kayvon ranked as the #2 DE.

Eligible for new contract. I wouldn’t be shocked if he attempts to use going back to baseball (was selected 9th overall) as a ploy to  get what he wants from the cardinals. Add on there were leaks during the year when Murray was hurt and trying to come back that some wanted mccoy to keep playing cause of how he/team was performing and then he came back and the team nose dived. So likely didn’t sit well. Was also a report the ownership wasn’t thrilled with the end of the season and playoff game (rumors that’s why bonuses took as long as they did). murray and kingsbury share the same agent and close. didn’t want the cardinals to fire or move on from kingsbury and belief that the cardinals after their nose dive and playoff performance were considering it. Put largely on kingsbury and murray who really didn’t perform well down the stretch of the season.

Team has until early May to pick up his fifth year option, which is then guaranteed. Usually in this time period, teams (not the cowpads with Dak) negotiate an extension.  I suspect those negotiations are ongoing and this is a subtle way for him to express dissatisfaction with the extension offer.  His option is to not sign and go the franchise tag route.  The team can just do the option as leverage, which guarantees his fifth year salary.  Then it has to decide if he is worth an average of the top five salary at his position the following year by the tag rule and while the salary is good, the player loses multiple injury year guarantees in the process. So the games begin for AZ.

Giants facing the same dilemma with Daniel Jones.  We will see how much the new coach really likes Jones pretty soon.

Didn’t the Eagles already try the converted WR with one year experience as a CB with Jacquet?

He's a 2 year CB starter, and you're allowed to try more than once...
