Howie took Nate Allen in the 2nd round at #37 in his first draft as General Manager, and Nate wasn't even as good as most high school safeties.  He took THE worst tackling angles of any safety I've ever seen.

I think Gannon would use some 3-safety sets on defense if he had any safeties to work with.

Side note, ever indication shows they(eagles brass) are committed to Hurts 2022. Which means your getting someone new, or rookie in 2023. No need to worry about a WR yet

2022 sure, but beyond that they'd be silly to build the offense around the current run/pass ratio. Either Hurts progresses or there's a new QB by 2023. And either way they'd need a more reliable WR2.

That’s probably a good point. I was worried that with his slight frame, that press might be more of an issue at the next level so a free release might be a plus.

Fully agree with all this.

Saints with their cap Hell shouldn't be able to match other offers and Williams is only 25yo.  He has playmaking abilities, which is something we desperately need in the secondary (Slay, has been solid, though did take him til this past season to come up with some 'big' plays) along with getting younger as well.  Then picking up one of those other Ss in the 2nd to pair with Williams would be great.  Add on to that a CB with one of the 1st Round picks and the secondary will be much improved.

My wet dream scenario for improving the defense would be as follows:

Sign FA S Williams

By some miracle both Hamilton and Gardner fall to #15 and we pick them back to back (hopefully an early run on QBs, OLs, and WRs).

Draft either Ojabo or Johnson II at #19.

Draft Muma in the 2nd Round.

You lucky dog. Great album, so are the two solo Gram Parson albums, where he had discovered an unknown singer, with whom he had wonderful duets (especially Return of the Grievous Angel).

My favorite Gram song is "Hickory Wind."

I think Hamilton is the best defensive player in the draft, but the league doesn't value safety as much as DL.

I can't imagine he'll drop to 15 but I've seen wilder things happen, if he does slip to 15 Howie and Donahue will be high fiving.

I think a more realistic scenario for the D between FA, Day 1 and 2:

Sign Marcus Williams

15- Ojabo or Johnson

16- Booth or Elam

19- trade down into the high 20's to 32 for a 2023 1st rounder+ and grab Brisker, Hill or Cine. If a Green or Linderbaum fell, I'd go in that direction instead of S.

51- Grab Harris, Muma, or Smith if grabbed a 1st round S. Pitre if we did not.

I imagine pass rushers will go quick like they usually do but if teams choose to focus on O instead of safety that'd be fine by me.

That would be Emmylou Harris. And yes, "Hickory Wind" is a great song. With the Byrds, IIRC.

It’s actually a pretty interesting sport. Lot of strategy going into each delivery of the stone.  Very serious etiquette.  A sport that can be played by all ages.  Mostly league play with the tradition of broomstalking afterwards, basically breaking bread and quaffing a brew amongst all the players.  But then again, I enjoy bowling and bocce, although bocce tends to be male dominated around here.  In Baltimore they play duckpins. Never could do that worth a darn.  Same social aspect to the sports.
