February 10, 20223 yr 1 hour ago, Ace Nova said: Me neither. He seemed to be a nice fit. Losing Curry isn’t great either but they had to unload some salaries regardless, either now or in the off-season to make room for Harden’s (likely) upcoming max contract. Theyll have to trade Harris in the future to make room for that contract. They can sign him to his 5/260 extension but theyll be over the tax apron which is extremely limiting on how they can acquire players then. Basically limited to nothing but vet minimum signings at that point. So likely Harris is eventually traded to get below the apron.

I CAN NOT wait to hear the reception Simmons gets his first and every game back at WFC. He got upset getting booed as a Sixer...he has no idea what he has coming. he wont step foot in that arena. Those will be rest nights for him and I bet he doesnt even take the trip on the team bus.
February 10, 20223 yr We gave up almost nothing to get Harden. If we can make a move like this to put us legit in the championship discussion, and the biggest sting we feel is that we have to replace a backup center, it's a win. The other first rounder we gave up doesn't even kick in until 2027

Reverts to two second rounders and I think $2 million. It's insane how anyone could be mad at this. Meanwhile, Ben's going to melt down in the playoffs and I can't wait to see Durant then

Curry will not be missed because they're getting a lot more scoring with Harden and he is marginally better than Curry as a defender. It's huge that they kept their young guards. The only way this trade bites them in the ass is if they can't keep him after this season. I don't think the draft picks amount to much. The first (2022 or 2023) will not be close to a lottery pick and the second (2027 or 2028) is pick-protected. He's picking up next year's option as part of the deal. Which is great, b/c I don't want to sign him long-term. Instead, you can get Harris and Harden off the books the next two to three years and have that money available (after you extend Maxey and Matisse). Wonder if Bassey will get a long look at backup center?
February 10, 20223 yr Drummond is a loss, but not a huge one, a great rebounder and a decent defender (good at protecting the paint but can't move well enough to challenge stretch forwards at the 3), but he has zero touch in the post and no shot. So he kinda constricts the offense when he's in. Better than Howard, but still limited. I want to see more Bassey, Milsap is probably toast, Bassey is raw but so athletic, makes me thing of a young Noel with upside.

As much as we ****ed about the offense, I do think a big part of the problem was Wentz and the lack of talent drafted for him. I mean he had decent receivers for really parts of 2 seasons. Wentz did not return to the same level of play and was stubborn about play calling. His staff was good at first and slowly deteriorated as time went on. I don't know who did what, but it's been said Howie helped put the initial staff together. I agree that Wentz and lack of talent was a big part. But part of it also falls back on Doug and what he did with his staff. Maybe 2020 wouldn't have been such a ish show if he could put together a decent enough offensive staff without having Lowie making him fire two guys who clearly weren't good enough and then have to grab bag 5 different guys because Doug had no answer to fill the OC role.

Any sort of tight game at the end, Simmons won’t even be on the court or else the other team will just foul him and (likely) give up less points because of his horrid free throw %. I’ve been mostly silent about Simmons this season but as a previous Simmons "supporter” I’d say I’m pretty disappointed in the way his career ended here. So much talent, upside and promise only to be dealt away because he doesn’t like the "pressure” associated with being a max-contract type of player and the responsibility it comes with. (If you are a max contract player in the NBA; your team, the fans and the media will expect you to perform and act like a max contract player). Unless he turns his attitude around, I doubt he gets another max contract anytime soon. Abandoning his team in the middle of what is likely Joel Embiid’s prime years just screams immaturity on a broad scale and I don’t think teams will risk that on a guy that still can’t make free throws or shoot beyond 10-15 feet. Just a guess.

Just a guess. I'm hardly a basketball buff, but for how he's chosen to utilize his skills IMO he should be playing PF. Swoop in off the wing, take a pass, and slam the ball down -- that's the only thing he's good at offensively from what I've seen. If he's a good passer then let him pass once the defense sends help into the lane. He's miscast as a PG -- no threat at all to shoot from the outside, and certainly not from 3-PT range. His game needs to be attacking the hoop. Having said that, he clearly doesn't care enough to work on or improve his game, so he might wash out of the league in 2-3 years.
February 10, 20223 yr We got James Harden for someone who was never going to play for us again. This is a steal.

February 10, 20223 yr As a Nets fan, meh. Seemingly Ben should fit in well with KD and Kyrie, but he's a headcase and has always been overrated IMO. Harden seems to have an issue every stop he makes, so we'll see.
