AJ Feeley: 2nd round pick

Kevin Kolb: 2nd round pick + DRC

Donovan Mcnabb: 2nd round pick.

Sam Bradford: 1st round pick

Carson Wentz: 1st and 3rd round picks

This franchise sucks at many things...getting value for crappy QB's sure isn't one of them.

Rumors of course but exactly. He is no where near that number. Zone would be nuts to even put him in the 35-40 mill range.

No QB is worth that.

Moving off Wentz was the best move Howie has made since 2017.

Geez what a disaster Wentz has become, if even Reich is giving up on him, it's over.

The 1st and a 3rd for Wentz is one hell of a fleece job by Howie.

I have seen him bias in certain games in past with certain teams. It was extremely glaring in the Eagles/Patriots Superbowl.

Will be interesting to see how he calls this Superbowl and the comments he makes about both teams and the calls etc with Cinny being his past team.

I never really felt he was biased but I'll be looking at that with tonight's game to see if he favors the Bengals.

Yup.  Dolphins were to blame here.  The Washingteam did nothing to stop them.

I was more so referring to the fact it said it was a meaningless game but it was still early in the season.  Also, Burrow being drafted by the Skins doesn't necessarily mean they could be playing today.  Washington doesn't have anything close to the weapons Cincy has.  Burrow is really good but just like at LSU he's loaded with WRs and a very good RB.

Obviously.   But the bigger stretch in all that is that Washington did anything on that particular play.  That looked more like a tank play by the Dolphins.  That wasn't a great defensive effort by Washington or anything, it was just a botched play by the Dolphins.  In other words, nothing to see here.

Uh... no.

This isn't about 'jettisoning' him, this is about whether or not the team should prioritize locking him up.  They shouldn't.  There are a lot of players out there that can do what he does.  No sense in overpaying.   Let him test the market.

I agree... Scott as a 3 is a good spot for him.  But teams don't lock themselves into their 3rd RB.  That's a year by year deal.

You keep bringing Sanders in to this.  This isn't about Sanders vs. Scott.   This is 100% about whether or not Scott needs to be resigned before the free agency period begins.  They can tender him at the original round tender level... and offer him 110% of his last year's salary.  Anything more than that is bidding against themselves... which is something they've done a lot recently and to extremely limited success.

And finally Scott is not a 'pounder' type RB.  That just silly.

I never said he was a pounder type, said eagles need one.

I agree though no reason to negotiate against themselves for a 3rd RB.

If another team were to offer him a contract let him walk, it's not like he's an intregal part of the offense.

Having said that I can't see too many teams willing to over pay the Scotts services.

I don't do a lot of these, but I took my time with this one and researched players' scouting reports and draft evaluations (mostly on PFN and TDN).  I'm pretty happy with it.  While I snagged a 2023 TB 3rd, I did have to give up our 2023 2nd to move up to get Gardner, but you're giving up about 40 spots to secure the #1 CB in the draft so I think it was worth it.  Adding Gardner, Johnson, Winfrey, and Beavers to our D would really improve it in 2022 (even more so if Lowie is smart enough to sign FA S Williams from NO).  Had to trade up to get Strong, but felt at that spot it was worth it.  Let him sit a year and learn the O.  Plus, by drafting him you have the option to trade Hurts for a 2023 2nd/3rd and start Minshew in 2022.  Pierce can play the X or big slot and he's an athletic, sure-handed, and smart target.  McBride was too good to pass up on.  He's a seam stretcher with YAC ability who is also a solid blocker.  The CSU pass game ran through him.  Haskins is the (young) power RB we need.  TDN actually has Paschal with a 2nd Round grade so not sure why PFN has him ranked this low.  I like the idea of drafting a 2nd DE/edge player later in the draft.  Bell is a SJ kid who started out at Maryland, but had an off field issue and transfered to FLA A&M where he has been their best player on D.  He can play in the box or single high, though needs some coaching up to be more consistent with his aggressive coverage so he doesn't leave open spaces.

Only thing I'm not content on is I didn't get any OL players, but with the rumours of Kelce coming back and Driscoll/Seumalo hopefully getting healthy in the off-season that we'll be fine on OL for at least another season.

So we ate about 33 mil in dead cap-space, and Colts are willing to eat 15mil to get rid of Wentz. 48 million total.

I don't see that number being topped for one player for a while.

I.o.w. Scott isn't anything special. Bring in a rookie.  It's not hate it's business

Thats fine, and if that's so no reason to kick the guy on his way out.

He's been a good player for the eagles, especially against the Giants😁

I think the eagles can keep Scott and get a rookie

I think they need a RB with sine size who can move a pile, only guy they have is Howard and he's always hurt.

Having said that I think most RBs can have a modicum of success behind eagles o line.

What's frustrating is Sanders is Uber talented but his vision is so Inconsistent that he consistently failed to get what's blocked where as a far less talented guy like Scott consistently gets what's blocked for him.

I think  number one attribute the eagles should look for in any back they get is vision,

I'm not sure who those guys are but I I think it should be high on the list of desirable attributes for a back in their system.

Yup mortensen whose usually plugged in just reported Wentz most likely won't be back with the colts, that leadership are really disappointed and angry with his melt down against the jags that kept them out of the playoffs and they'll probably release him pre march when his 15 mil is due

I imagine there won't be any teams willing to make him their starter and not sure he'd want to be a backup, wouldn't be surprised to see him get released and then retire.

Weird career for him.

It matters because you keep acting as if this is some sort of smear campaign against Scott.  It's not personal, there's no hate and no one is kicking him.  This is all in response to Roob's suggestion that the team needs to lock him up before free agency starts.  That's all it is.  No hate.  No kicking.  This is the business side of the NFL.

I wonder where Mort got his scoop…

Boston Scott’s tender would be $2.3M? Or something like that? Makes no sense to pay a third or fourth RB that money.

I didn't realize it was that much, seems a bit steep for a 3rd RB.

You are correct.  I misread... its the greater of that or 110% of his salary last year ($920k).

Definitely can't tender him.

https://www.nfl.com/news/2021-nfl-free-agency-glossary-all-the-terms-you-need-to-know#:~:text=Restricted free agent (RFA)%3A,%2For draft-pick compensation.

Original-round tender: One-year contract worth the greater of (a) $2.183 million or (b) 110 percent of the player's prior-year base salary. Draft-choice compensation: a pick in the round the player was originally drafted in.

I think Zak nailed it at the end. If you move on from him you have to replace him. With where are the colts are as an organization they would need somebody who is ready made to step in there because they have playoff and Super Bowl contention expectations. I would say they could trade for a veteran quarterback but without a first round pick this year it makes it super hard to have better draft capital then another team and not sure future years puts them in the race. Derek carr back to Vegas. Don’t have the draft capital for Wilson or rodgers compared to other teams. Texans likely don’t deal watson to colts unless they massively overpay (already asking for a ton) since it’s in the division. Free agency is Winston, mariota, Tyler Huntley, Fitzpatrick (off an injury), bridgewater and trubisky. Likely cheaper but still not competing for a SB like irsay expects and wants

they are likely going to have to do it via the draft. I think most of us agree these guys coming out aren’t ready for a team that expects to be a playoff/contending team like irsay expects.

kind of a bad spot for the colts unless they lower expectations if they draft a kid which would be a second round pick or later unless they trade future first rounder or future picks  to move into the first.

Don't see him retiring, but his days of being handed the keys to an NFL franchise are well behind him. He's at best a stop-gap QB, and mostly likely the designated clipboard holder.

It's surreal to see how quickly his career took this shape, he was supposed to be a Mahomes level QB before Mahomes.

Cook makes so much sense in terms of value, fit, and need. Another option would  be Dameon Pierce in Round 4 or 5, too.

I really like Smith from Baylor and he’s still kind of under the radar.

Kenneth Walker for me.

He will be a late 1st to early 2nd round pick. No thanks. RB is quite deep this year. We just need to not take Donnell Pumphrey again. I like Ford, Cook, Pierce, Smith, etc. Good value on day 3 across R4-7.
