Right.....? ***Breaks down in tears at the thought of another year with Hurts****

But sitting the players was another arrogant move from this FO/Coaching Staff. A young team who struggled with bad starts in the previous month should have played in the last game of the season. They need all the reps they could get. They need talent not reps.imo

McNabb, Vick, Carson, Jalen...they clearly want someone who has the ABILITY to run, not necessarily a propensity. I think Desmond Ridder should be their guy. Good size, good arm, an athlete but he prefers to do most damage from the pocket. Grab him in R2 and his buddy Pierce in R3. Watching both, I think Strong has the bigger arm, and his decision making is quicker.

He has great upside without the injury history and "statue-ness" of Strong. The two bolded pieces don't align. The current Eagles' coaching staff has no tie to McNabb, Vick or Wentz, and they inherited Hurts. Meanwhile, they have a connection to Jacoby Brissett and Phillip Rivers, neither one was very mobile at all. So, there's a bit of a dichotomy here... is it the Eagles' FO or the Eagles' coaching staff that gets the final say in the type of QB they want. I think I know what that means, but it still has yet to play out. But, if mobility is the key characteristic they are searching for, Ridder makes a lot of sense.
January 19, 20223 yr Panties...bunch...relax. Everybody knows, including Hurts and the team, that the Eagles will try to get a better throwing QB. Everybody. Hurts knows his job is not solidified, knows Howie and Sirianni are saying what they must publicly otherwise it is a total s..t storm until the draft. We all know this. When they either trade for or draft a QB they will then say "Jalen has been great, did everything we asked and more, has a bright future, but we couldn't pass up the chance to add .... to our team. It's all about winning Championships and we feel .... gives us the best chance to do that." We can then resume panties in a bunch...

January 19, 20223 yr If they go with Hurts this season, it's a good sign that Howie means what he says. If they look for a veteran QB, it means he's back to "win now" mode, if they stick with Hurts, it means he's recognizes the team needs to infuse a lot more talent and he'll focus on the draft and the waiver wire, and not short-term fixes like 2016 (when he signed a bunch of 26-27 year old veterans, which worked for three years then hit their expiration date). If you build the team, and Hurts doesn't work out, you have a better 1st rd pick to deal for a QB two years from now, so it's a "no lose" proposition, except for the few here who want to make the playoffs at the cost of building a legitimate SB contender - because that's what trading significant assets for a veteran QB signifies - and there is no QB in this draft that I'd trust to play as well as Hurts for at least two seasons - just look at most of the top 15 picks at QB the last five years.

I mean this kid needs to do everything he possibly can to read the filed better and make quicker decisions. If this helps even a fraction of a %, he needs to do it.

Strong has the "strongest" arm in the class, but I worry about his health and his inability to do anything outside the pocket when a play breaks down. He's also the most accomplished guy when it comes to pre-snap, but Ridder is probably #2 there in this class. I think it comes down to do you want an A in arm talent and a D in athleticism, or a B+ arm and a B+ in athleticism? 5 minutes ago, Iggles_Phan said: The two bolded pieces don't align. Yes, FO made more sense in that context than staff. I don't think mobility is key per se, but Ridder has plus arm talent. He's a far better passer than Hurts and not far behind him in athleticism.

January 19, 20223 yr I know we all use the SWAG thing over and over again but I think wayyyyy more people think this than we actually think. I know it's an old article but it goes a long way in why so many love Hurts and hate Wentz. Jalen Hurts Is Simply Way Too Cool To Not Be An Elite Quarterback In The NFL Jordie6/29/2021 12:40 PM 29 When you stop to think about it, there are really just 3 types of quarterbacks in the NFL. You have your dorks who know they are dorks, are comfortable with being dorks, and that ends up making them better quarterbacks. Guys like Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers come to mind here. I'd say the Mannings are a little too self-aware to fully be in this category, but they're definitely borderline dork. Then you have your dorks who think they are cool, and just try so damn hard to be someone who they're not. Guys like Derek Carr and Baker Mayfield come to mind here. Then you've got your dudes who are just cool as crap. They've got it all. The style, the presence, the talent, the everything. Guys like Deshaun Watson come to mind here. And after that 30-second clip above, it is impossible for anybody to say that Jalen Hurts doesn't fit that bill as well. Just look at this dude go. The Oakley Sutro Lites. The Michael Jordan hoop earrings. The G-Baby jersey. It's impossible to have that much drip and not have it directly translate into on-field success. His appearance rating is a 99. That's gotta do wonders for your overall rating. ESPECIALLY when the Eagles run out of the tunnel in some kelly green uniforms. I know that "look good, feel good, play good" is a tired cliche. But it's a cliche for a reason. That wouldn't be a phrase that has been uttered for generations if it weren't true. So with that being the case, anybody who doesn't believe Jalen Hurts is having a breakout year this season is a certified bozo and should teach a masterclass in buffoonery. Looking at you, Chris Simms.

With so many other needs I just don't see them making and dramatic moves at QB unless someone they feel is just as cheap with more upside falls in their lap. I don't see that happening. I think everyone is going to be really disappointed with the starting QB next year. I just don't see how they significantly upgrade at QB and address all of the other needs.

You are stuck in the purgatory of having a mid 1st round pick, and then you have to dedicated multiple picks to move up for the guy. The Eagles acquired all these 1st's hedging their bet if Hurts was not the guy, and he isn't. There is no recipe saying QB has to be last. A huge chunk of the Bills starters were acquired the same year, or after Josh Allen was drafted.
