How come?

Because I think by the time we have the rest of the team built and competitive he's 36-37 years old, and he ain't gonna be Tom Brady. If we had the roster built and "just" needed a QB I'd be all for it. Watson at his age, while more risky short-term, is the better fit if going the trade route.

To be fair Aaron Donald makes a lot of O lines look like anybody.

I don't think Bengals get to bowl without chase, he was a difference maker all season.

They won 4 games in 2020, 10 in 2021. Chase made a big difference on the Bengals, he wasn’t the sole reason for the turn around but he still had a huge impact on their offense.  Taylor went in to the season on the hot seat, I’d guess he begged for them to take Chase.
Cheap ass Mike Brown doesn’t help, the Bengals didn’t have a scouting staff until the early 2000’s, and today they still have the smallest staff in the NFL.  Almost makes you think Marvin Lewis did a better job than he’s given credit for.   Get hired as a the HC and the first question you have is who’s going to the  Shrine game, Senior Bowl and Combine and Mike Brown tells you " uh you are, just you, btw, we can only afford to send you to one of those. Who Dey” lol.

Unreal that a franchise in this age would operate that way.

Eagles trade down from 16 to 31 for a 2023 1st rounder.

Eagles can trade two 1sts in 2022 and one in 2023 for Wilson/Watson and still have a 1st this year, and a 1st next year.

If Howie plays this right, it won't decimate their assets.

The player still has a non-trade clause in both cases.  The Eagles were not on the waive list for either player last year.

It doesn't matter if the Eagles offer 5 1st round picks over the next 3 years -- if the player doesn't waive the no-trade clause for Philly, there is no offer.

It's been a while but the last time Seumalo faced Donald, Donald got nothing. Nothing.

Wilsons finger injury alone would be enough to give me pause.

Not sure what his prognosis going forward is?

I'm confused, does Dave really have a side hustle at QVC?  Is there more to this?

Eh, he was dialed in during the Pro Bowl skills challenge.  Not that it's a good measuring stick of his finger but he was throwing dimes during the competition.

I thought it would be mostly embittered Giant and Saints fans but it's every NFL WR roasting him too.

Wow, even NFL WRs are making fun of him?  Is it more in a joking way, like how players talk trash on each other, or is it more deadpan and mean?

He's a local guy from SJ.  Played at Eastern HS in Voorhees.  He's had a fairly rough NFL career.

Doubt that will be a problem and reporters like Mort have reported as such.

Well if rumors of Donald retiring if they won come to fruition then seumalo and any other anybody's will sigh a big sigh of relief.

I get the sense he's a trash talker who also happens to be...trash.

Because I think he's declining.  I don't think his style of play translates as he ages.  I don't like the guy, comes off as phony as F.  And I don't want to trade our draft capital for a 33 year old who is led around by his celebrity wife.

He might be. He looked really good at the end of the year though, makes me think his finger was the issue when he came back and it finally healed. I think he can give you 4 really good years. But I'd obviously prefer Watson significantly.

Gotcha.  So if he's been talking trash to WRs all these years and now they're roasting him as a sort of payback.  That makes sense.

I agree I'd prefer Watson, but there is a scenario where Watson settles, is suspended for all or almost all of 2022 by Goodell, and then if you trade for Watson you don't get him until 2023. I'd still prefer that, but I think Wilson can give you 4 good years, that's an eternity in the NFL. I think Wilson with Smith, Allen Robinson, Goedert, Sanders, this OL, and if you add a pass rusher and a safety at some point can compete with anyone. This will be the best OL Wilson has ever played with in his career. I think it could extend his ability to play at a high level. Also, knock on wood he's been really injury free most of his career, especially in the areas that count like his arm and legs.

If they cut Trae Waynes, the Bengals will have $65 million in cap space in 2022. Not bad for a team in the Super Bowl.  I wonder if Taco Bell does their catering.
Imagine Burrow and Chase coming from LSU with some of the best practice facilities in the world, to the Bengals trainer

No reputable reports that I've ever seen.

The only "reporting" I've seen to that effect on Watson was from Florio and Chris Simms (both turds), who postulated that they'd 'heard things' early on in the process last year where Watson would 'consider' waiving it for Philly.  That has been roundly debunked by HOU media as recently as late October 2021, saying Watson would not waive his no-trade clause for Philly.

John McClain is as tuned in as any Houston media source, and I'll trust him every day over Florio and Simms' spit-balling.

McClain's reporting was because Watson wanted to go to Miami. Miami has taken themselves out of the running. That changes things significantly.

Mort and some others have said they think Wilson and Watson would be fine going to Philly. I think Schefter even said Watson would be on a radio appearance on 97.5.

MIA took themselves out of the running (past tense) at the trade deadline, because Watson couldn't resolve his lawsuits; they're not permanently out.  If they're in, that's where Watson goes.  If they're out, CAR likely becomes the only team on Watson's waive list.

Let me know when Watson is on -- I'll be sure to tune in to the broadcast.  I'll pick him up at the airport and drive him to the radio station.

Everyone getting at Eli Apple

I have no problem spending first round picks on defense. If the player is there then grab him. I’m all for it we could use the talent.

But this theory that is no way possible for the Eagles to fix their defense without using those 3 first round picks on defense is not necessarily true. The Bengals have zero first round picks that they have drafted on the defense and the rams currently have 1 (who I’m not saying doesn’t help a lot). If you have the right coach, you’re smart with your acquisitions and scouting, and you identify/draft well throughout you can build it.

The comment I made was that the Eagles couldn't have drafted any good defensive players, because they weren't drafting in the top 15 much.  Such a cop out.

The bolded is the problem.  We don't have someone that we can trust to identify quality defensive players.
